I think I'm going to reject my order from Newegg and grab Halo 3 from Gamestop...Few questions:

1) Can I pre-order a copy of the regular edition right now?
2) When should I go?

Please help me out guys. :(
 
wow that last live action short turned out a lot better than I thought it would. Only thing is that I think the brutes still need more work to be believable. The chieftain looked good, though.
 
I've changed my opinion on the series and Halo 3's visuals. I never really liked the series as much as most gamers. I thought it was good but not the second coming it's been hyped to. But after getting really deep into the 3rd game I must say I'm a fool. This game is so fucking awesome! And the visuals, while not the best the system has to offer, are pretty damn good! l really love the open level design. It feels like the game was built from the ground up for 4ppl co-op. I'm going to have to go back and finish 2nd game now. I can't believe I passed it up(I played the heck out of MP though)!
 
Alright, I've got to head out and run some errands but then it's straight into the line at EB. Hopefully, by the time I get there things aren't too crazy. A lot of stores seem to be handing out numbers at 9, but mine didn't say anything about that when I called this morning; they're just letting people pay off their pre-orders at 9 and then wait until midnight. Hopefully I heard wrong and they are going to give out numbers so I can come back later. If not, it's no big deal. I've waited 3 years for this, a couple of hours is nothing at this point.

By the time I come back here, I'll have finished the fight and perused the bonus materials. Then it will be time for co-op and multiplayer shenanigans. Less than 6 hours to go now, let's do this.

You would think that these shorts, coupled with Halo's immense popularity, might be enough for someone to gamble on a feature film.

The deal that MS offered the studios was pretty unprecedented, so it would be a big gamble for them to go for it.

I have no doubt it will be made eventually, maybe when Bungie's swimming in money in a few days some corporate higher-ups will realize that it is in fact would be a huge movie. What pisses me off is that these studios shell out horrible movies constantly but come around and deny this movie it's funding. Baffling really.
 
The Halo 3 madness is so overwhelming, I don't even know if this is where to post this. Someone redirect me if not.

Anyway I wrote up a couple pages on Forge and the gametype editor--not just the straight facts, but plenty of actual examples of wacky games and modifications you can make to get you started. There's some cool stuff you can do!

By combining Forge and the gametype editor, you can craft new types of games unlike anything offered in the default lineup. One player came up with a mode that, in some ways, shares more in common with land-and-air games like Battlefield than with the Halo series.

In this mode, customized in Forge for a large outdoor map, each team has a randomly-assigned VIP player and an indestructible flying vehicle with room for two passengers. The two VIPs, who cannot pilot the vehicles themselves, must reach airborne checkpoints before the other team does, chaufferred by another teammate. Meanwhile, other teammates on the ground attempt to disrupt their enemies' checkpoint-grabbing progress by sniping the VIPs out of their passenger seats and protect their own VIPs by assaulting enemy ground troops.

its all about control and budget, im sure most studios want creative freedom and bungie wants to ensure it doesnt suck...a conflict of interest

Same, I don't feel like waiting around if I don't need to. Already pre-ordered and paid it off in full...

I just wanna go there, pick up my game, and rush back home.

I dunno man, why aren't you waiting for Newegg? They're supposed to deliver tomorrow. I think you'll be able to walk right in on the 25th and pick up a regular though.

I understand, I'd just really like to see a movie, and with those shorts I know it would be great. Couldn't Microsoft fund this? I know it's not their section of business but I'm sure they have the extra cash laying around.

i haven't been following this project at all, but if Bungie wants to ensure that it won't suck by their standards, why don't they write the script themselves and make it mandatory that whatever studio picks it up uses their script?

I'm not really sure on what I'll do, I kind of just want to show up late instead of waiting in line for an hour, but EB doesn't have any set time they are closing.
 
For those of you who ordered from Newegg...

I ordered my copy from Newegg on Thursday with UPS 2ND Day shipping. They didn't ship it until 12:00 pm today, and I just got it in the mail already. I live in NYC.

Now, I have to sit through Heroes before I can play...

Just over two and half hours here. Line isn't as big as I had expected but it's alright sized. I'm sure it will grow over the next couple hours.

They more or less did. MS and Bungie are just asking for a fair bit more than people typically do, so the studios balked initially.
 
I', getting the Halo bundle, I hope I can get the game in it. If not, well then, I'm going to buy the elite and the game (probably limited or regular), sorry guys but legendary edition is a complete ripoff.

I ordered from newegg. but i cant wait so ima go get it at walmart since i didnt pre-order anywhere. Ill just buy the same version, then take the un-opened newegg copy back to walmart. should work flawlessly.
