Moderate NAT should get you into a decent about of games, just expect drop out in partys

I tried a few games last night, the COD4 Beta would say connection interrupted all the way through, and I couldn't join anyone in Halo 3, and I couldn't get into matchmaking. It tops off a weekend of absolute suckage, first my freeview box breaks, the previous person in the room forgot to unregister their MAC address (probably half the problem with my Live access), and I'm dubious about all the people here. Moreover, the internet is at a measly 400kbs download speed. So overall, this is sucking.

So I got to uni yesterday, and my internet connection is less than useful, and gives me a moderate NAT on Live, which stops me from playing Halo 3 online . I'm going to try to sort the problem out on Monday, attacking the IT department's weakpoints for massive damage, but for me, this is terrible news as I hardly turn my 360 on when I don't have Live. It's probably equal in the pain factor as having a RROD.

If moderate nat fucks up halo 3 its rather fucking stupid, halo 2 ran fine for me on the uni network last year and I was stuck on moderate too, only game to be rather stupid on it was lost planet after the first patch.

Game makers should realise some of us cannot change the router settings, theres more then just students who have to face these problems. Xbox1 never had this problem for me.

I've been using forge a bit today and this seems to be a bit of a problem.

a) you can't select Carbine as a starting weapon
b) you can't put Carbines on 6 out of 11 of the games maps through Forge
c) you can't have carbines on the games maps using any of the preset weapon sets.

Anyone able to find a way around this

When I was at the University of Washington, the network connection in my dorm would not allow my Xbox to connect to Live. I just bought an internet switch, ran the switch out of the wall, then connected my Xbox and PC through the switch, and it worked great the rest of the time I was there. Also, my other friend said he had a chum here who had to give them his 360 for 7 days to get access to Live. I have left half my stuff unpacked at the moment, as I don't want to live in a place that can't even give me the stuff I had a home, that is the grand suckage.

Hmmm... you could always try Internet Connection Sharing and hook up via your laptop?

I use to run my 360 thru my pc first because of the way I had to sign into the university network to gain internet access, most of the time the NAT thing is their end not yours and how you connect the console up. It blows I know.

Those of you who don't have the game and want to experiment with the different armor permutations, here's a nifty little program that lets you do just that. It's basically what you can do in Halo 3 in terms of customizing your Spartan. So you can keep yourself busy with that in wait of Halo 3.

Oh wow... I just caught up the 6 or so pages that I missed from while I slept, and I saw the permutation program that Tieno linked to, plus the tons of awesome Spartans and Elites that people made already - good stuff guys! A few of them really looked like something I would rock online for sure!

Reminds me of right before Halo 2 launched 3 years ago, Bungie.net had just gone up, and people made a website where you could do the same thing to create your own emblem in advance before you got the game - which is how I made my custom emblem that I used to this day, and will continue to use for Halo 3...

I dunno if the PC I'm currently on has Framework 2.0 already or not, but I0ll definitely try it out when I get back this afternoon - based on what I saw from the perms, basically know what I want to be using, before I finally get to unlock the complete Hayabusa set, and I already knew that I was going to be using an Elite alot, but looking at the possibilities, I think I'll be using an Elite even longer than I thought!

Regarding the registration of internet at my dorm, it was supposed to load up the sign-up page when I went on any website, where they would detect my MAC, store it, and register my details with them. However, all it did was just load me to the original URL address, which means I am not registered with them yet, and there is no way to do so until the previously registered person is taken off this network point, thus their MAC is still on it instead of mine.

Goto the System blade in the 360 dashboard> Then press A on the network settings option> Once there, choose the Edit Settings option > There will now should be 2 tabs at the top press right on the d-pad which will bring up the Additional Settings tab> Now press down on the d-pad and choose the Advanced Settings, Host Name, Alternative MAC Address setting > This will bring up a page that will have your MAC address. Now write down the numbers and letters that are under "Wired MAC Address" in the bottom left of the screen

Those numbers and letters are you MAC address take that hexidecimal number and explain your situation to the IT Department and they should be able to fix you up
