Voc, two questions
1)How did you get the copy?
2)Are you doing a review? Depending on (1) you aren't bound by embargo, right? When can I read it?
1) I may have miscommunicated with you a bit, Tieno. I received it in the mail from an undisclosed location, there was no return address on it, only mine in print. I asked around to a few likely candidates and only one has not answered me with a "nope, not me." That individual lives in California and he owns a small gaming retail store. We had talked briefly a few months ago about H3DA and Halo 3 and that was the last I heard from him. He had my address because he had sent me a Play and Charge kit a while back.

2) I'm going to work up a review by Sunday for both my brothers in the Ascendant clan and anyone here who cares to read it. There won't be any story spoilers in the review, but I will be talking about the story, the ending, its scope, it's closure and so on/so forth. I'll also be talking about Multiplayer, the Forge and Saved Films but probably not to the same degree since Matchmaking is sparsely populated and I don't have enough people to really enjoy it.

If anyone does have the game and wants to play some multiplayer, shoot me a PM and we'll make it happen.

FYI, I played through "Sierra 117" on Legendary by myself and I was greatly pleased. The enemy AI and damage offerings are more intense, there are more snipers (which are easily managed and not nearly as frustrating as Halo 2's). It took me about an hour and there was a helluva lot of ammo conservation and weapon options. Once you 'get' how you should take your time and once you learn the finesse of taking out carbine/beam rifle Jackal out, its not bad at all. I think Frank mentioned where you have to position the center of your reticule before...right above their face-mounted site. I was knabbing carbine/beam rifle Jackals from a VERY long distance and with a BR easy.

I haven't had a chance to go through all 14,000+ posts, but is it possible to play online with multiple players on a single console ? And if so, is it possible with a single Gold account (like in GRAW, or Gears)?

Just got a notice that my FamilyVideo.com $45.98 order shipped yesterday. :D

It's coming via USPS Media Mail, so there's little chance it will arrive early - but this does mean it will get here sooner than I thought (I was expecting about 7 days after the release date). Yay FamilyVideo!!!

Halo 3 causing delays confirmed

http://www.ps3center.net/story-956-Bluray-Could-Have-HDDVD-Defeated-in-18-Months.html

It seems that according to rumors Capcom and SEGA are going to hold off on releasing and developing certain PS3 games as they want to wait and see how the market is after Halo 3 releases on the Xbox 360.

This could be a possible sign that Capcom and SEGA want to see what kind of impact Halo 3 has on the video game market and how many sales of Xbox 360 units it garners.

The news came at TGS when both companies stated that many PS3 games they had in development are now on hold.

The gaming market over the holiday season is definitely going to change and it seems that Halo 3 is going to lead the way. How many Xbox 360 units it sells is up for debate.

It is not a good sign though that major developers such as SEGA and Capcom are basing releases on how well Halo 3 does...at least not good for PS3 fans.

:lol

Man, I think the poster was just joking. As for the rest...Good news!
If you think I have sand in my vagina publicly, you should read some of the PMs I can fire. They'll melt your face right off.

(Voc: We're good.)

Yes, works the same as Gears.

It's blasphemy and heresy that this thread isn't stickied yet.
The game isn't out yet.

And we seem to be doing just fine without it. In fact, traffic would drop upon being stickied becauase no one would be able to find the thread. :lol

its all coming back to me now, why i like halo...

Mplayer baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, let me show you my shotgun

Remember when the PS3 launched and Microsoft crashed the party by having pretty much just signs for the Xbox 360? Now, this time the ‘Sony Defense Force’ will be attending over 1000 midnight launches of Halo 3 in the U.S. with megaphones shouting out the ending!

Just a word of warning to all of you out there if you plan to wait in line. This is truly sad, Sony + PS3 fan boys cannot admit defeat to the superior console + games.

*As always I would not view comments on other websites.*

Yah, I bookmarked it using thread tools, I don't even know why I bothered.

As I sit here dreaming of Halo 3, a wish fluttered into my mind. How wonderful would it be if Halo and Halo 2 were remade using the new engine and sold over XBL and/or in stores with new maps? I would buy that. Would you?

I don't really care about that happening to Halo 2, but having Halo 1 multiplayer maps and online co-op would be awesome. I wouldn't even care if they redid the graphics. A physics update would be sweet though.

Hey guys, a long time ago somebody posted something about a place in NYC selling halo early. This thread moves at the speed of light so I can't find the post, but does anyone have ANY information about places I could pick up the game in the NY area???

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Absolutely sad. The spoiler bombing in here and on the spoiler friend requests were pathetic, but that's something else. I imagine these are the same guys who go around the net trying to goatse people. I imagine them living sad little lives, entertained by trying to find recognizable objects in their own fecal matter.

Forge/multiplayer easter egg I just found:

If you flip an elephant on sandtrap (use fusion coils, you can keep it permanantely in the air if you make them respawn instantly, with you on it too :D)

When in the right place (I only managed to get this whilst onboard in mid-air) you can get this message:

'Hold RB to flip... wait, what? How did you do that?'
Haha, cute.

I'm stunned we're nearly at 15000 posts, and we haven't even gotten to review discussion yet. Can't even imagine how fast this thread is going to move come Sunday/Monday once the embargo goes up....

Man, this thread moves just so fast, it's nearly impossible to keep up with it. The latest vidoc is amazing. I can't wait for the crazy reinventions of game modes that will undoubtedly be created with it.

There's no source for that claim though. If SDF is this organized they can crash 1000 Halo launch locations (fuck, I'm talking like it's some god damn army, fucking sad) and ruin it for fans we've reached a new low.

I doubt a group of degenerates could be so organized. Actually I know it. I'm sure out national Haloday will go unspoiled and stress free. :D

I've seen one for baseball. Who fancies a game of Cricket?

Random Restrictions I don't like:

Saved Films Issues:
-Screenshots cannot be taken when you are within a party

-You cannot rewind Campaign films (This in particular is a bitch seeing as you must fast forward through 15 minutes of gameplay looking for that perfect moment but you just happen to miss it there's absolutely no way to go back and take the screenshot)

-You cannot record an edited clip from Campaign films.

-Myself and some of my friends could not play back a 6 man battle without massive lag (Using Comcast with 50kB/s upload)

-First person view is only available for the person's character who recorded the film
(Player 1 saves his film, We load up theater and the only character we can access first person view with is Player 1's model. Every other player is limited to a third person view)

Co-op Campaign Issues (No Story Spoilers):
-Only the leader of the party will have access to checkpoints within a completed mission (If leader is given to another user, he will not have the same checkpoints as the leader)

-Halo 3 automatically checks who has the best connection to the internet and he becomes host (And Master Chief usually) But Comcast has added "Power Boost" to my connection meaning my upload will jump to 150kB/s only to drop back down to 40kB/s, but giving Halo 3 enough time to decide that I am the 'best' host. Problem was solved by uploading a file while starting a game of Campaign and then praying it would work.

-If you begin to lag at all in Campaign it plays at half speed (Usually only happened when I was host)

-If one person disconnects somehow, the co-op game will exit back to the Campaign menu

Other than those issues I am so in love with this game. I'm at work right now and I already cannot wait to get home.

On a sidenote:

Co-op is a godsend. It is so damn amazing how well the game runs. The part I loved the most was probably that physics/enemies/deadbodies/everything is exactly the same for all players. (In GoW the dead bodies were independant, on Phantasy Star Universe Enemies were in different parts of the map for different people) Bungie has set the bar for Online Co-op.

Forge Fun (Deleting stuff):
As a monitor you can delete items with the Y button. If you have a friend who is annoying you in any kind of vehicle, delete his vehicle to force him to immediately respawn.

I'm greatly looking forward to Voc's review. He always has interesting and insightful comments about Halo and its story.

He's one of the few people I don't mind having an early copy. :P

They're not organized, it's just that fanboys generally think alike.

For the sake of God, they better not. The outcome would be worse than you see with soccer fan fights.

If someone came to spoil the game while i was in line...they better be in a fast car because I would get a decent amount of enjoyment beating the stupid out of them.

I thought Bungie said in the recent podcast that you can see it from anyones perspective? Bungie am lying?

Also I thought that the film you are watching is the one from the hosts box, thus it's the ultimate version, why should the perspective be limited only to the person who recorded it?

The other people watching can go to any character but only in 3rd person I thnk it what he is saying.

Fileshare was up about 12 hours ago. I've been exchanging skull location pictures with people I find in matchmaking.

So far I have 3 Main skulls (Iron/Blackeye/ToughLuck), and one secondary skull (the one of Seirra 117, I forgot its name)

Click the right thumbstick when in 3rd person to go to 1st person.

Edit: Maybe not. Only works on your character.

That's what I've been wondering too. It's really disappointing seeing how I was murdered last night in Matchmaking by a bunch of snipers, I would have LOVE to have seen first person view of their shots. Right Stick Click shoves you into first person (If you're on the original person who recorded the file) but when on another player it only zooms in while in third person.

*Edit*
Unless I'm doing something wrong. But I mashed controlls for about 15 minutes trying to get into first person :(
