Potentially Dumb Question:

A lot of the multiplayer achievements say they have to be done in a ranked free-for-all playlist, what does this mean?

They have to be done in Lone Wolf. No team games.

It means you have to be in a ranked, non-team game. Basically, you get the achievement on your own merit, not in some custom game setup just to get the merit or on a stacked team in a ranked match.

So this is what we're looking at. Pretty standard. Works for me.

Ranked Playlists
Lone Wolf (Rumble Pit)
Team Slayer
Team Objective
Team Tactical (Hardcore)
Team Doubles

Social Playlist
Rumble Pit
Social Slayer
Social Skirmish
Big Team Battle
Multi Team
Social Doubles
Basic Training

Can you confirm the names Vyse, just so I have them down correctly?

Are matchmaking playlists up?

I just went to preorder two copies of the game at Gamestop, one standard and one limited. They said there were no limiteds left, only standard. So I only put money down for the standard so I can still play it at midnight.

If I look around a little I should be able to find a limited edition somewhere the next day right? Right? I really want that bonus dvd...

If you mean the Limited Edition as in the helmet, you should preorder one somewhere else or find one quickly the day of launch. They are actually limited edition, and the number I heard was 400,000. You can still buy one at amazon, and I think even Wal Mart was advertising them, but I do not know if they have preorders. I think Frankie said that the factory where they were produced was literally torn down, and there will be no more made. If it is just the Collectors Edition you should be fine.

Yes. People are playing now.

Also, the names are completely accurate. I just checked (although, the term "hardcore" next to Team Tactical appears only in its description, not the name itself).

Lone Wolves is indeed the name of Ranked Free-for-all.

Excellent. Thanks.

Awesome that Multi Team made it in the playlists. That was a really fun playlist.

can anyone give a bit more info on the playlists? how many players/teams are in multi team, and how many players in BTB (6v6 or 8v8)?

Luke or anyone who has played Halo 3,

For a group of 4 above average Halo players, playing Campaign the first play through, do you recommend Legendary or Heroic ???

I'm just curious

Legendary and I wish I could just turn skulls on for you for Epic Win.
I has all of thems unlocked

Lone Wolves? Do not like. I preferred Rumble Pit and Rumble Training, personally. And Double Team sounded way cooler that Team Doubles. The gay jokes and Tenacious D jokes that I made with my friends worked so well with DT. And what's with all the unranked playlists? Why so many? Stinkles, get in here! Isn't the matchmaking population going to be really diluted with all these lists?

Yay! the feed update went through and itunes is finally downloading the podcast. I can now put it in my ipod and listen to it anywhere.

dude, there's going to be 2 million copies of halo3 out there in the first week. they need some way to thin the population out...

Does anyone have the Collectors/Legendary? (thats where you get the a/v calibration tools right?)

Could you talk about the quality of these in achieving their purpose?

I'm guessing the Bungie Playlist Reveal will roll out tomorrow or so, but if someone who has the game can give us the details on player sizes/limits and perhaps the descriptions for the playlists, that would be amazing.

what was the reasoning? just a little fyi i have never ever listened to a podcast or read a bungie update ;)

Because it would thin out the Matchmaking population by way too much. It would render Matchmaking useless, in effect.

I would imagine the playlists are conservative to start. remember H2 where they started out with Rumble pit, big team, Team skirmish, 1 vs 1, and big clan and little clan. By comparison this list will make everyone happier :).

I'm still a little disapointed that we arern't seeing more freedom in matchmaking and finding customs though :(.

On my first play through, I have to go on Normal because I'm helping a friend beat it relatively quickly. However, I'm definitely eager to go through on Legendary.

for the players that would use the custom game list extensively, matchmaking already is useless...

make us pay money for our own custom game lobbies, i don't care. i don't want to jump through hoops to play halo the way i like to

That's how I feel. I'm just really used to using XBC to connect to exactly the game I want to play, in Halo 1. Oh well.

I know where you are coming from, I went through some parts of Gears on casual with a friend who sucks at shooters. I had already beaten it on Insane by that time though.

i think alot of people used XBC in Halo 2 as well just to have this option.
