The Official Halo 3 Thread

Please look at my post history, I have never said one bad word about halo 3, I was in the beta and I loved it, and have been counting down the days till halo 3.

Just because I have my own views of the SP/CO OP part of the game I get hate.

Come next week when other neogafs have played it, im sure there will be users who feel the same about the game.

Gee, I guess my post got lost in all the negative comments towards meddow. :lol

I'll start out with a few general things. I was very pleased with the campaign, and as I said, I don't want to spoil the story, but there are a lot of both large and memorable encounters. Some of these occur on the later levels of the game, and some of these levels bear a resemblance to levels from Halo 1. I'm not going to say which ones, but in my opinion this is a really good thing. I actually got a little nostalgic.

I didn't encounter any problems with the AI as I read somewhere else here, but the AI didn't impress me that often either. The most fun I had with the AI was probably when it deployed just the right kind of equipment at the right time, and when it dodged either my chopper or warthog. Oh, and when two grunts came running after me with two armed plasma grenades in their hands, at the same time. Maybe if I play even more, AI "gems" like these will be more apparent?

The graphics? They're nice, really nice. The game as a whole is really atmospheric, and I'm sure most of you have read about the foliage, especially in Sierra 117, so I won't write too much about that, but that level in particular is gorgeous. Now that I think about it, there was a slight pop-in of foliage on Tsawo Highway. Since that level is mostly vehicle based it's understandable, and there's not that much foliage to notice in the first place, but from time to time some would pop in. That's just a minor complaint, thought, maybe you won't even notice. If I were to come up with a somewhat legitimate complaint regarding the graphics, I'd say that ... in a perfect world, it would have a bit more AA. I don't know if it's even technically possible with the stuff happening on screen with a consistent frame rate, but I said in a perfect world, right? Heh.

Difficulty? Four experienced Halo players on normal isn't such a good idea. It was enjoyable, it's not that, it just went by a bit too quick. We wanted more. So when another friend of mine got the game we played through it on legendary. I guess we died a couple of times too many, but it never got frustrating, and I think I'd actually enjoy the added challenge of at least a couple of skulls (of which I have found a meager four :/) on legendary.

In general I'm really happy with the campaign, and unlike Halo 1 and 2, I am 100% sure I'm going to complete it time and time again. I usually don't do that with games, but I guess it's a combination of the fact that I NEED TEH ACHIEVEMENTS!!1 (to get the armor permutations) and campaign scoring, which is really awesome. I've only played it once, but I beat my friends. Bahaha.

Multiplayer? I haven't played any matchmaking, because the last time I checked the playlist server wasn't up and running. Forge is sweet, though. I've made a map variant of
The Pit
for Infection use, and I can't wait to try it out with more friends.

I hope you guys at least got something out of this brief write-up and I'm sorry if my English isn't quite up to par. You see, I'm from Norway (no, I'm not the guy on that picture floating around :lol ). If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Meddow this is what we want you to do. It doesn't have to be that long but would you kindly give us a nice run down of your likes, dislikes?

Wonderful.

Thank you soooo much. Makes me happy in pants.

I have a serious problem. My 360 keeps freezing when playing bioshock. A total of 3 times today. Though that game is notoriously bug ridden I am very worried. I didn't get the red lights (yet, its bound to happen someday) Should i use my BestBuy replacement plan or keep the system? Thanks~

It could be cache issue (with BioShock that is). Does it freeze or does it just hang up now and then.

I talked to a Newegg rep. I was about to cancel my order when he gave me a tracking number. Nothing shows up for it yet, but I wouldn't expect it to until later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

I'll cancel tomorrow morning if it doesn't ship.

Does it happen on other games?

Clear the Cache. It happens to everyone. Freaked me out too.

Hold both Bumpers as you start the game until you see the press start screen.

Keep the system. I had issues with games like that before. Sometimes a certain batch of games will just be shittier than others. I've had to replace games at the store and see the serial number first to make sure I didn't get another bad one. You should do this with Bioshock. The serial number can be found on the disc near the hole.

Me too, if it comes down to it I'll just refuse the shipment. Did you get Regular or CE? UPS or FEDEX?

FUCK. Halo 3's on torrent sites now.

Hurry, deploy ninjas before it spreads even more!

better than halo 2. was leaked a whole month before i recall.

and you can't stop piracy. you can only support the companies that make these games by rightfully spending money on their products.

It may ship but UPS or Fedex will just hold it until the 25th. If there is a warehouse close to you could hopefully schedule a pickup.

No, I completely agree, and I even knew going into it. It was just that I had promised one of my friends that we would play Legendary together, so he made me play through Normal with some other friends while we waited. Why normal and not Heroic? I'd read that the encounters would be bigger on Heroic, and I didn't want to ruin those before I played on Legendary.
