Got it from Argos (UK) this morning. I'm sure most of you hate me, but I've already played through the first hour. I won't give any spoilers.

What I will say is that it is the best looking current-gen game I've played yet. I'm seriously not shitting you. Fuck Gears, fuck Bioshock, fuck Resistance, fuck Heavenly Sword. This splurges all over them with the finest man semen.

None of the same old dark, gritty, grey textures. No. This shit is mega-vibrant. Beautiful to the nth degree. The lighting has to be seen to be believed. Everything is so smooth and crisp. The textures are fucking INSANE. And the screenshots you have seen of the jungle environment? Well, let's just say playing through that area made my jaw drop - Uncharted has some serious competition, SERIOUS competition. I've never looked around so much at the graphics and lighting with my mouth open so much this gen. It looks afuckingmazing.

New segments of Bungie.net are slowly going up. I'm looking at the Bungie Online section at the moment, very slick. There was a glitch on the front page, but that's all fixed now.

I'm so jealous of the UK gaffers who got it early.
 
What amazes me is that overnight shipping was the same for the legendary as the regular from Newegg. I wonder how much the LE weighs?
 
So who all has gotten to step 4 (or 5) on newegg? I ordered at around 12:30 eastern and it jumped to step 3 and hasn't moved since.

edit: beaten....and the upgrade to bungie's site killed my avatar =(

Jesus Christ I am going fucking crazy here. All this newegg talk, all these people dropping in to say "LOL I GOT IT OH SHIT OH SHIT". I'm conflicted.

Half of me is like "OH SHIT BRO AWESOME"
Half of me is like "WHAT THE FUCK?! WHY HASN'T FRY'S IN AUSTIN BROKE THE FUCKING STREET DATE YET JESUS CHRIST"

It's like I can't stop being a psycho until I get it. I'm annoying my room-mates, because I'm constantly refreshing GAF, looking for more screens and all that kind of crazy loopy nutbag shit.

With Halo 2, it felt like my anticipation was immense for months. I even threw this big party the night after it released. Halo 3 I haven't really cared that much about until those videos BlimBlim took showed up. Since then it's been feverish and more intense than my hype for Halo 2 ever was.

Somebody else make me feel less alone in my psychotic behavior.
 
i haven't slept in ages. i just tried game fuel and it's pretty good.

I got a copy from Argos too, took a 80 mile round trip and talking to odd Welsh folk for directions (!), a half days sick leave and a arguement with my bank, but I got it in the end.

No spoilers from me as I would hate it just as much.

Suffice to say so far my time has been split 30 / 70 on campaign / replay mode. How much fun can I get from the chief looking faptastic for pictures? Its stupid awesome.

101% lives up to the hype.

I couldn't disagree more, sorry. The graphics are completely underwhelming to me, and almost bring the whole game down since it doesn't look that great. The textures are barely adequate, and the lack of AA kills the game. I'm not sure how you can say fuck Gear or Bioshock, they both stomp right over Halo 3. I don't know, maybe I need to have my eyes checked? I will supply pictures if people want I took of the game.

Graphics aren't what its all about... When Bioshock beats out Halo 3 for game of the year... then we can agree that graphics > gameplay > features.

Hey found a small bug with the updated Bnet. Under my Halo 2 game stats Big Team Battle games that I've played are showing as H2 Challenge, custom games are showing as Rumble Pit, Team Skirmish as Team Training. The playlist indices might just be off by one or something.

Really? Bioshock is pretty ugly, I was hoping Halo 3 would at least meat that low bar. Also features shouldn't mean spit to anyone. They are nice, but pokemon with online combat is still pokemon.

WHAT? The textures are pin sharp. The foliage is seriously detailed. 'Barely adequate'? My arse. But you think what you want to think.
 
In other news, Gamestop confirmed that H3 is their most pre-ordered game ever.

well defeats the sd/hd argument. I myself never thought it was amazing looking, but i was hoping the AA would be improved since the beta, im guessing not though huh? It's fun as hell though right?
 
Not wanting to dampen the spirits here, but a friend of mine informed me that it's possible that even though Newegg is shipping today, the actual packages may have a sticker on them saying not to deliver until the street date. It happened with his gf's Harry Potter book (not from Newegg of course), and even though she ordered it and they shipped it early, she didn't receive it until the street date. However, I'm not sure if that would be able to stop you from going to the post office and picking it up yourself. FWIW.

As soon as you're moving through that jungle, you'll know what I'm talking about. Textures, foliage, amazing distinct lighting, vibrancy, water, draw distance. All of it. Amazing. And the explosions, did I mention those?
