Anyway, guys I am FINALLY going to jump on the next gen/current gen bandwagon later today. I need some questions answered so please take a look if you can. I have two options in my head as to which SKU I will go for. I'm a HALO nut in the sense that it's the only game I have regularly played since the release of HALO 2, but I don't own any of the merchandise. I know the HALO 3 360 is meant for HALO fanatics, but I actually dig the color and design of the thing. I just don't know if it's worth $50 to own it for that reason alone. It baffles me that I'm even indecisive about such a dumb thing, but I really do love the look of it. I feel like smacking myself for even considering it.

01. Elite or Halo 3 360?

02. Are both machines covered under MS' three year warranty?

03. How do I check if an Elite has both the extra fan and quieter drive? Do the Halo 3 models come with those upgrades?

I'm quite glad it took until a week before release for this to happen; with Halo 2 we had nearly a month of full-on spoilers everywhere. A week to go is not so bad.
 
Stinkles/Luke, are you guys ever going to release a high resolution of this screenshot? It's filled with infinite win and I totally want it as my desktop background. :P

the elites are by no means breakproof. read the broken 360 thread. just plan that no matter which console version you get , it will most likely break at some point. or you could wait for the mythical 65nms due this fall.

I have the Halo 3 360, but you dont really sound like a Halo nut, so for $50 more you will be getting a greater value, go ELITE.

1) Do you plan to buy lots of content from the video marketplace? (TV shows, rent movies)? If not, go with the standard.

2) Yes. That's for general hardware failures (RROD), all other issues are one year.

3) Look to make sure there is an HDMI port listed as a feature on the side of the box. Those units have the new board and second heat sink, and are apparently quieter.

While you're at it, could we make sure it's at least 1920x1200px? I'm tired of small wallpapers :(
 
I don't care for tv shows or movies. Anyway, thanks for the advice (and unit info) guys. I'll see how this all goes later today. Thanks again. :D I'll likely go for the Elite unless there are only older models available.

It feels weird, in a way, that we're so close to playing Halo 3 in our Xbox 360s. It seems like it was just yesterday we were all gawking and furiously fapping over tidbits in the Weekly Updates, website articles, videos, screenshots, etc. Time has really flown by fast..

:lol Damn, I like the grunts. If I was going to have a kegger with any Halo character/s, it would be them. They seem they would be the party people, and if not, you could sticky nade them to watch them dance. Although the Arnold yell the Elites make is kind of humorous too.

Yeah. Weekly updates were always there for fans.



By the way subscribers might get latest OXM with Halo 3 review this week since it is supposed to go on newsstands on 25th.

I remember it like it was yesterday when the multiplayer beta was announced and we were all "Ah man, Spring 07?? That's too far!!" and BAM it came out of nowhere, and ended so quick. Then we were like "Man we have to wait for 3 months until we get to play again" and now... 1 week left.

Quick question: since when did MP stuff become spoilers? As far as I know, the plan is to reveal them all before launch (didn't frankie say that?)
