Anyway, let's not derail this thread any longer, I'm sorry for bringing it up, I was just saying people can enjoy Halo 3 regardless of what tv they have, portable, SDTV or HDTV.
Of course they can, but you have to admit it's pretty baffling how. Halo 3 fans seem to be a very tough breed.

This thread moves quicker than an early game shipment at a European games store. The official Bioshock thread will be dust be mid week.

I can't wait to play Halo 3 on my 23" samsung HDTV. I prefer smaller TV's beacuse you can sit up close, and I always do better in multiplayer if I am up close and into the action than if I am like 10 feet away, reclining, looking at my huge home theater system. Anything over 35" is too big for multiplayer gaming IMO. I'm all about pwning noobs. Halo 3 runs natively in 720p, so its perfect. Anything over 720p is upscaled anyway.

Also...if you're having Halo parties, its nice to have a small HDTV you can easily pack in your car and take to a friends house.

You are not the only one, dispite being a student and having lack of money anyway I prefer to sit a pc-monitor distance away, and using a 17" samsung lcd for my pc as well as my consoles sitting 4 foot back is abour right.

Last week I tried playing gears of war on a 26inch tube tv sat about 12 foot away from it, lulz that was.

Hey, I'm pretty new to these boards.

I know Stinkles =Frank O'Conner
does the LukeSmith featured above, =Luke Smith from Bungie?

Im a huge fan...:D

No hes the Luke Smith /ex 1upyours Internet star. Luke Smith is the Luke from Bungie.

Ok..sweet. Yeah...I know he used to be with 1up. I'm looking through at his comments...he's not very helpful at answering people's questions. LOL. Even Frankie is more helpful. LOL, anyway....who else from Bungie posts on the neogaf forums? Any Marty O' Donnell or Jason Jones?

I have my lovely 26" Samsung LCD, Purchased mainly for Halo 3. Still looking for the right audio solution. Surround systems with Optical Input aren't easy to find (the inputs are usually not listed on the interwebs) and surround headphones aren't practical for multiplayer. Unless the wireless headsets fit nicely under the cans, in which case ill go with that! Decisions decisions :S

Button Basher is Jason, and ferrex is Tyson Green. There's allegedly another, somewhere.

Thanx for the advice :D

EDIT: For the price i may as well go for this

Has the bit about Discovery Channel's special on Halo 3's weapons (well, their counterpart in real life) been posted?

So, what I'm after is a reasonably cheap 2.1 system. Firstly because I am curently temping and the money fucking sucks balls (barely covering rent and food here :( ) and secondly because the room setup isn't condusive to 5.1.

Any reccomendations? Also please be aware I am in the UK so no Best Buys or Circuit City's please :3

The Logitech range is pretty good for the money; I have the Z3 set which is great for my PC and gaming needs. The sub is fairly hefty and for £54.99 you can’t go wrong.

If this is too pricey, they offer cheaper versions which I'm sure would be fine on a budget set-up.

Hope this helps.

Not sure if its old news but the museum ad is on the marketplace (PAL at least) along with ninja gaiden2 and the TGS pre-conference.

And regarding Tvs, i´m gonna play on a samsung 26" (replaying halo on that one and still looks nice).

Onkyo. Onkyo. Onkyo.

Seconded. My Onkyo 6.1 setup ran me around $500 for the whole caboodle and it smokes anything else I've had in my house.

Although, a work bonus may go towards those nifty Pioneers that Stinkles was pimping earlier...now that I'm engaged, they may be useful.

I've decided to buy a Samsung Plasma for Sept 25th. My dad thinks I am crazy for buying an HDTV for games. It's a good thing hes paying for it (graduation gift), and he thinks I'm even more crazy for going to stand in line at midnight to get the game. Do any of your parents think your crazy for being out of college and still playing videogames?

Originally, yes. Then video games started paying my bills and they've backed off. :D

One only needs to look at the top of this page to see a Bungie employee conversation lived out through GAF. Settle into the brush and witness these creatures in an environment, similar to their own, teasing one another about their sleeping habits and gaming choice.....let's listen.

looks like someone has already finished the game:

The Game is around 8 hours on Normal Mode for someone who has played ALOT of Halo and Halo 2 and is quite proefficient at First person shooters

Qoutes

there is never a moment that you wish you can simply skip. Every second you will be on the edge of your seat, wondering what the next room will bring, or how will the story pan out. I can only speak for myself in this regard, and no one else. I was more then happy when I finished the single player campaign, both gameplay and story wise. Without a doubt in my mind, this game is a day one purchase for anyone that enjoys video gaming, and with its robust multiplayer that I have yet to touch, will be one of the games in the upper echelon of Xbox 360 titles.

The soundtrack also never stops to amaze. What almost seems like a compilation of the previous two games, the music does an incredible job setting the mood. Whether it is the classic Halo theme while messing around in a Warthog, or something slow and creepy for when traversing dark corridors, the music always fits with what is going on in the screen. Easily, one of the best original soundtracks of any game.

Graphically, the game looks amazing, but it is not in the upper echelon of games like Gears of War and Bioshock. Each area is beautifully detailed, and the lighting effects are stunning, but there is still that lack of interaction with your surroundings. Fired shots do not leave marks and very few things are destructible, but it does not detract from the game much, if any really. One awe inspiring feature was the draw distance, you can see for what may seem like miles in some cases, scouting ahead to see what may be your next fight is almost commonplace in the open environments. There is also a lot going on in the background during your travels. Ships flying around, storms raging in the distance, unknown explosions, among others will add to the overall immersion of the levels. There is no surprise pop in, something Halo 2 had issues with, nor is there any major loading issues while in the game. In fact, the loading screen is one of the coolest loading screens I have ever seen in a game. Outside the game is a little different. Levels can take up to 20 seconds to load for the first time, my first game took about 15 seconds to load before the opening cinematic to start.

Overall, the gameplay has seen an incredible overhaul and features some nice shine to it. This game combines incredible open environments with heated battles, and some intense firefights in close quarters. Never once does the game slow down due to monotonous level design or monotonous battles.

The difference is in scale. While in the previous Halo titles you faced off against, at most, a dozen enemies in a single sequence, Halo 3 throws over 20 at you while pumping in reinforcements. Many a time you will turn a corner and see a couple dozen guns pointed at you, with gun emplacements and ships ferrying in more troops. The real awe striking feature is that you are not always the only center of attention. All around you there are several firefights going on at different fronts, with Covenant and Earth forces spread out over large areas. While you may be facing a dozen troops, there may be another dozen engaged with a Marine unit hunkered down in a house, and at any time you can interact with to centralize your offensive. Add to that, the potential of an air battle that could start above you, with Banshee's and Hornet's buzzing around, firing at each other and down at the ground. With all of this action going on, you might miss Covenant drop ships from landing reinforcements as you try to cut through their ranks.

I've always wished that if there were an epidemic of some stores releasing a game early that the game company would just say "fuck it" and let all stores sell it early.

Taken from MLG forums.
How many maps in the game, could be fake..
someone ask that guy on IGN.
Valhalla
High Ground
Snowbound
The Pit - Midship remake
Guardian
Narrows
Retaliation
Island
Fallout
Sand Trap
Last Stand
Competitor
The Pilliar - (of Autumn)

It sorta seems fake since Frank and Luke said there was only 1 remake and on here, ther'es two.

Thank you, Europe, for ruining a special day and keeping me internet free for a week.

What is it with Europe and leaks?

(There's a Dutch joke in there somewhere)

... Wait what? I hope I read that wrong. Not even a small cosmetic black mark? Or does he mean no marks on enemies?

Thank you very much, I think I'll plump for the cheaper set for now and, when I can afford it, upgrade and relegate them to my PC :)

You got to be fucking me...
This game is gonna be amazing no matter what, but seriously 9 maps.
Come on, even Gears had 10...
And (for the most part) free new maps.

Also, What is the deal with the remakes? I HATED midship.

rule of life:

don't listen to a random person on gamefaqs or IGN

especially when you already know they're stupid (no beam rifle?!) or blind (no weapon decals?!)
