Man, I forgot how much I just love doing Annual. I must have helped at least ten people get it, and it's a blast every time. I hope one of the Vidmasters in ODST is something similar.

So, changes made.

Two suggestions made were two break the center wall and add some cover along it; I've done that. Other changes I thought it needed, after the playtest:

  • A dozen new spawn points out in the center; spawns were too clustered around the bases
  • Added a stone platform in the open corners (with a plasma pistol)
  • Moved the regens onto the bridges in the center (from the wall) so they're not so close together now that the wall is open
  • Swapped one overshield for an active camo. I had done two overshields because with the bases in the corners, each has a slight advantage rushing for one side. But it looked like the power-ups were positioned enough out in the open that it neutralized that issue.
    [*]Swapped Prowlers for Warthogs.
  • Also geomerged a column down that was sitting crooked on the sand.

Yeah, I guess this explains why Amplified has such terrible spawns sometimes. Players die at one end of the map and attain a value of -500, thus forcing both players to respawn on the other side of the map. This seems to happen all the time, almost every time I play on Amplified.

Yea Amplified is both shit and awesome at the same time. I really hope that Heretic will be picked up and knocks Amplified and Lockdown out with Heretic Slayer and Heretic Ball. Also Heretic Bomb, Flag and Hill would be great...and FFA

It's like that for a lot of forged maps. It's why high level MLG play involves quite a bit of spawn killing too I guess

None of those gametypes would even work because everyone will be in awe of the skybox: they won't play.

Got 50 (31+ K/D) kills in a single game for the first time today. Probably not special to you guys, but it was a personal achievement for me. :lol

For some reason, I keep on thinking(and I think I saw) that Citadel has a Sandtrap/Epitaph like outside. I'm probably wrong, but it seems Bungie just loves sand(Marathon: Durandal and Infinity was set around a planet that was practically just a big desert) :lol .

In fact, you can see the outside pretty well when the guy uses a Spiker(:lol) to kill a idle player in this video.
 
I actually might play Lone Wolves on a regular basis if Slayer BR's on Heretic gets put in. I would even play Oddball BR's on Heretic. That's just how awesome Midship is.

Yeah it'll be interesting to see how MLG handles Heretic (and possibly Citadel) as you have to buy a whole new game to play them. We'll see.
 
I can't wait for CTF classic on Heretic. It'll be almost as good as Sancuary, except for the lack of Sniper rifles...

Hoping for more feature reveals similar to the Bonus Round thing. I don't think I need to see any more of the campaign until it's in my 360 though.

It's going to be a lot longer than two days for campaign and Firefight in ODST for me, mainly because of school.

Looking back, it took me four days (due to school and other stuff) to complete Halo 3's campaign.

Speaking of campaign: anybody else save their first time playing Halo 3's campaign? I still have the videos for Sierra 117 and Crow's Nest the first time I played through them (I've forgotten why I deleted the other seven levels). It's pretty interesting to go back and watch them.

It also makes me wonder how ODST's campaign is going to be structured from a main menu video-wise and mission-wise due to its openness.

Midship Heretic is such a small map, having any sort of equipment on there would break the map. Think about it. Flag, Bomb, and King would be fucked if there was equipment on any ranked playlist. Maybe in a social playlist like actionsack that crap might work.

Also, if it worked fine in Halo2 without equipment why use it in Halo3???? If the shit is not BROKEN why BRAKE IT BUNGLE???

Has anyone been encountering a ton of lag lately? It seems like every other game that I play, my shots don't hit half the time and the enemies just don't seem to die. It sucks, kids need to get better connections.

My connection has been terrible, but thats not unusual.

Especially those custom games and those BTB games, those Flag games weren't great either, it was a good host on the pit then it SWITCHED to a bad host, no idea what the fuck that was.

You'll most likely get Slayer (AR), Multi-CTF (long flag respawn time), KotH with grenade starts, and everyone's favorite, 1-Side VIP.

As usual for most Halo 3 action for me anymore, I'll just deal with customs and play games without the hilarity.

I wonder where the Bubble Shield and Power Drainer are located on the map. Wouldn't be surprised if they replaced the Needlers with them. At least then, they'd be somewhat like Power Weapons on it, and not just in the base where people could be able to spam them constantly.

Then again, if you'd have a Bubble Shield and a Energy Sword up top, getting that achievement would be pretty easy. Or Shotgun and Bubble Shield.

All the Battle Rifles have been replaced by Bubble Shields and the entire center structure is now a Power Drainer that deploys ad infinitum.

I only play Halo on Saturdays now because I can't stand MM without a party. Plus, Customs is the only time where I can actually play good gametypes on good maps. I can't play standard Halo 3 MM. Team Flag was freaking awesome though.

Framerate would be through the basement.
 
Here's a preview of that Sandbox map that I've been working on. You'll get why I'm concerned with how close the bases are to the middle, and why the outposts are probably too far out.

Oh, and thanks to Voc for actually moving the respawn areas and Flag points over to the side, so that you don't have to delete your map just to move it somewhere, only to have it spawn back like most canvas maps I've seen.

You know. It's been said a zillion times, but since I only dabble in smallish maps on occasion - such as, say, Team Flag double XP weekends - I'll mention it once more.

It makes no sense for the flag respawn time to be the same on Ghost Town as it is on Avalanche and Valhalla. The speed of the respawn should be adjusted to the scale of the map. I really don't understand why it isn't.

Also, we should all bring at least one custom non-Sandbox variant to customs next week, as people are getting burned out on Sandbox variants (understandably). I'm working on a tweaked version of Valhalla.

funny you should mention that. im working on tweaking valhalla, standoff, the pit, last resort, and avalanche. :P

The Best Map, as it's name suggests, cannot be improved. It's Halo, BTB, and Valhalla at its finest.
