I think gummi candy is the best candy there is. But I also enjoy eating other candy.

It makes no sense for the flag respawn time to be the same on Ghost Town as it is on Avalanche and Valhalla. The speed of the respawn should be adjusted to the scale of the map. I really don't understand why it isn't.

Also, we should all bring at least one custom non-Sandbox variant to customs next week, as people are getting burned out on Sandbox variants (understandably). I'm working on a tweaked version of Valhalla.
I'd be up for customs with you guys.

Also, the flag thing is just old news. Countless of posters here and every other Halo forum has expressed the same views. It's tiresome anymore, and questioning why it has not been changed, yet. Playing on these settings for a small map like Heretic will really be bad.

What's up with the sudden death settings on the Team Flag? We just had a very close (ultimately frustrating) game where we were matched up against a clearly coordinated, superior team and fought them to a 2-2 tie. They extract the flag with a sniper/wraith/hornet trio to pin us down (the third or fourth such move), and it hits sudden death. I stop the carrier just outside keyhole, then AR the Hornet to death (yes, you read that right). They do not have the flag. Sudden death runs out....and then, Sudden Death starts up again. This time, for 50 seconds. They rally to the flag, and get it out on a Warthog through keyhole. We lose.

I didn't even know sudden death had such settings. Very frustrating. :\

You should do a picture story. But make sure to put huge focus on the AR killing the Hornet.

Nah. I like to savor victories and forget failures. I neglected to mention an utter failure on my part. Another of those oh-fuck-I-accidentally-zoomed-in moments with the rocket launcher, which resulted in someone getting the flag out. So it's my fault we lost. I just through I redeemed it all by stopping him and toasting the Hornet (AR FTW BTW), when that epic WTF moment happens. We got robbed, I tells ya.

Those were some fun games, thanks for carrying me because I am a certified Burger King. We only got 2nd once out of 11 games, so that's good enough for me.

I think we spent 3 of them talking about Pokemon. :lol

I don't know what it is, but in the last week, I have seen at least 15 different gamertags that can be associated to pokemon, and not just something like "PokemonMaster" but actual pokemon names.
 
With some tweaks Team Flag could be an awesome permanent playlist; change those flag return times, remove Heavy gametypes and increase equipment respawn times. Another gametype idea that struck me yesterday was Team Slayer NE as in "No Equipment". I got the idea from the equipment on Heretic complaints and Sanctuary's "Team Slayer No Sniping." I think it would be worth experimenting with on certain maps where equipment is often abused.

The Sanctuary-No Sniping gametype was pretty fun. Little things like that is why I miss Halo 2's work from the management side. Still, with tons of variants misused in Team Slayer, much less in Team Skirmish battles, it's doubtful we'll see it implemented soon.

Instead of going in and instantly arming it, you're charged with the bomb carried standing in radius arming it, and once the bar gets full, it fuses and there is no disarm. Basically it's what Halo 2 was, and you can disable the sticky-arming in all of it, if that was a down-pass for some people. CTF Classic... just plain odd it isn't in the setup by now.

I loved how Halo 2's Assault was. Would love to see that added in as "Assault/Bomb Classic", with CTF Classic(well, 3/5 second return time which is the closest you can get), and Flag Rally(which is like Territories from Halo 2).

I've seen a few with a lot of "mmmmm" and "33333333" after the name, since it makes Halo 3 just say the gamertag before that. Ran into someone with "Frankiemmmmmmm....." as their gamertag, which is funny since that's not his gamertag anymore. :lol

You can make the setting so that its Halo 2 style right? Arming set on a timer? I hope so because I don't wanna play Heretic Bomb in the new style.

After my 50-75 games of Team Flag I've thought these through real fast:

-Flag time returns should be lowered which has obviously been said a lot in the recent posts but a lot of the games devolve into a dropping in and picking it up just to keep the return time low and is just really a dumb game to play. Things like this http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=1305083127&player=SometimesImEpic happen where obviously a team getting +20 kills and +20 assists its obvious we were a better team but the gametype doesn't make that matter and thats bad. IMO. Sure maybe if we were only like +5 kills or +10 but when we are just that much more skilled and coordinated but still lose to the grab and rush and grab method? Its just wrong.

-Utah Mambo spawns need fixed, just because a few made it to your base to protect the flag doesn't mean they should start spawning there, they should be spawning a bit towards back middle of their base. I think thats the problemm but something is definitely screwy with that map and needs to be addressed.

-As a permanent playlists whether ranked or social I would like to see Avalanche, and Heavies gametypes weighted less. Those seemed to come up frequently and almost always unwanted. IMO its a bit too big for a 5v5 playlist.

-I would like to see 1 flag games have less time on small maps, Ghost Town for instance (which tends to always be a draw against players who know what they are doing) as opposed to Standoff and Valhalla which take more time to traverse.

Also, do any of you guys play Trials? I have Letters on my friend list, but he's the only person on it with the game and I'd really like some more people who play it so I'll have some times to beat. If I add people from the Trials thread, chances are I'd never play an actual game with them so I'd rather add some of you guys. I know Eazy has it.
 
I'd also like it if games wouldn't start 3v3 in flag. While I think Avalanche is too big for 5v5, it's laughably large for 3v3 and Valhalla shouldn't be be played in any games smaller than 5v5.

And I know it's pointless to say this as it's been said a million times before but:
Turn party splitting the fuck off. No one, 0%, not a single living nor nonliving being on this planet prefers to have it. I've yet to hear even a single Bungie employee argue for its existence. I'd rather wait (although it shouldn't be hard to find a flag game with 12k in the playlist) then get split up. It's a fucking chore to hover over the controller praying to god that MM continues to look for players instead of starting the game with split teams. Backing in and out of the search to help ensure it doesn't happen.

Ya, it's kinda of pointless to search with a party of 5 to be split of 3v2. STUPID.

Some assholes were talking shit the game before and beat us 5v4 (big deal) and so next game I get split off into their party.

It felt quite karmic to shoot them up, almost like I was doing a good deed. Fucking burger kings.:D
 
Ok, I said I'd post these maps later today, so here they are. You guys were talking about revising maps like Valhalla and Standoff, and I've been building a collection of them. :lol

Engorged(Blood Gulch/Coagulation remake on Valhalla, don't expect it to be 100% like them, though.)
Even after evacuation, this coagulated gorge is still home to bloody battles. 6-16 players

Warthog Inc.(a few changes to The Pit, like boxes to get in and out of the bases like on the MLG version, and making it harder to camp in the Ops Center/Sword Room)
Used as a boot camp for new trainees, these pits have seen many battles. 4-10 players

Boundlessness(Boundless, but made to be more symmetrical in weapon layout, and with added cover)
Even in fridged boundries, the Covenant had troubles with their shielding technologies. 2-12 players

Moonbase Alpha(added more BRs, dual wieldables, and I believe I moved the flag spawn for 1 Flag to be in the base)
The halls of the Quito Orbital Elevator used to bussle with vistors, now it is filled with carnage. 4-12 players

Recourse(More Zanzibar than Last Resort, but with more weapons from Last Resort so it isn't a perfect remake)
Even after remodeling, Wind Power Station 7 is still a last resort, even during hell on Earth. 4-12 players

Confinement(Isolation is still going to probably suck though, doesn't hurt to try to make it better)
Even after harsh damage to The Ark, Sentinels isolated Flood specimens in this area. How wrong they were to do so. 2-10 players

Chill(added teleporters to narrows, and some other changes)
Using chilled ice, these narrow bridges keep new constructs habbitable. 2-8 players

Sandpile(added cover to the ground portion of Sandbox, added cover/pillars to the top of the bases, and enclosed the bunkers to the sides to make them platforms for Active Camos)
Excavations have shown newer parts of this once empty sandbox, which seems to still have secrets hidden below. 4-14 players.

They might still need some work, and I have been trying to edit Epitaph and Construct(and make Sandtrap somewhat like Relic), but it's been hard to make them better.

In the one customs session I was able to play with the other GAFfers, we played the H2 Assault on BerBer Creek and it was awesome. I much prefer arming the bomb for an extended time compared to just planting it and standing around. It seems more frantic and exciting than the H3 way.

The tags ending in WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW or MMMMMMMMMMM look cool for about 10 seconds while you're in the pre-game lobby... Then once the match starts you look like a complete tool.

The majority of the Halo community has and always will be idiotic, especially as long as they continue to choose spawning with ARs over BRs.
 
Jeez dude, I don't think a differing opinion makes anyone idiotic, especially when it comes to a weapon in Halo. Some people just want, and are happy with, a different experience in Halo than you, it doesn't make them stupid.

It's gone to shit? More players than Halo 2 = More shitty players playing Halo than ever = Bungie trying to appeal to the sucky masses with boring playlists.

Seriously, Bungie has the power to dictate what we play and the community's tastes. They could set up the playlists in favor of BR starts, map specific flag return times, and other specific tweaks; it wouldn't cause a great cataclysm or anything. The less skilled players of the community would become adjusted to them and become better players. But just like the old Halo 2 SMG "Spray and pray" argument, they're satisfied with simply appealing to the lowest common denominator for the most part.

Might as well go all out in that direction and let Dax program all the maps and gametypes for matchmaking. AR start on an all AR Valhalla and Sandbox!
