So, kinda off topic. I went to a Coldplay concert tonight [probably the best concert i've ever been to]. And...well...look what seat I got.

This post is really bad while we wait for the pictures to arrive. Is it like, 7, 343, 1337? Or is it Seat# AR Starts 4-evah?

I still remember when they played at the Cruzan Amphitheatre down by West Palm Beach in 2006. Chris went into the crowd while singing an encore song. He went all over the place; well, all over the first 40 rows or so. They were great.

This is a classic, I just found out this guy is also making that Scribblenauts game :lol He did a lot of custom maps for Halo CE too. Nice to see a halo fan I've been following for a while blow up like this.

Seriously, you guys should go check out www.mothergoat.net to see/hear some of his work. He makes fantastic maps, music, and (now) games.
Whoa! I've played some of this guy's maps for Halo Custom Edition, never had any idea he was involved with Scribblenauts.

Bricks was shat.

Yeah, there is no doubt about how off-topic this post is but I just had to share my love for the Windows File Copy ETA doobery-majig.

Untitled-1.jpg

Not just that it's such a high number, it's the fact that the ETA is 61 years (give or take a few)........ and 1 hour.

Edit: To keep it slightly on topic... uhm... 44401 is divisible by 7... :P

See, now I don't know if that's sarcasm or if you're genuinely one of those folk who aren't homophobic in regards to colours.

I think purple glass looks good anyway. =]

I really dig the map, and how many different ways there are into the base. I've noticed that while there are lots of touches on the flag, it doesn't get out of the base very often. I think if there were a way to get the flag out of the base a touch quicker - leaping out of a nearby nearby window (for example) right after touch, or some other way to make the flag location not be quite so treacherous, it would loosen it up a lot. As is just getting a touch isn't enough, you have to truck it a ways out of the base as well as fight your way in.
Thanks. From what I remember it was tough to get it out of the base, but when it's in front of the base it's pretty to push it the rest of the way on default flag settings. That said I could give attackers a way of getting out the back more easily and push which would push the defenders out of the base and let attacking vehicles help more. I'll see what I can't whip up in forge and review the film.

Play, play, play until you get better. And sorry if it seems like I randomly ducked out. After one of those matches I was checking my friends list and I apparently lagged out of the lobby or something. Since it was so packed I decided to do something else and free up a spot. Next week we should try to set up two lobbies headed up by different veteran GAF'ers for everyone else to join.
I've been thinking that as well. Start a room, once it grows past 12 or so players split the group into two, play separate until the total player count sinks back down and merge.

And sorry, Big Ander, for ignoring your message. I was getting a bunch of messages during that game (have 13 "new" ones still) from people asking about forge and sending me pictures and shit. I stopped paying attention to them and missed yours.

Congrats Voc. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor.

He's a cool, level-headed guy who definitely knows his Halos. Very happy to have him on the team.

Never thought I'd see Ryan Payton in the Halo 3 thread. Awesome.

EazyB I can't really say much about Brouhaha except I agree with Ghaleon about the flag and that from the short time I played it, the spawns felt a little odd.

Also I missed out on it earlier cause I was yelling about avatars and stuff, but hi bentllama I know you'll do Frankie good :), and hi to anyone I missed out on saying hi to!

Yeah but unless you manage to split yourself into two, one the rooms will be missing the awesomeness of random Flight Elite shenanigans.
Walking all relaxed towards the sound of gunfire in the distance and BAM!! Hit in the face with a chopper outta f***in nowhere, in a platform where vehicles aren't supposed to be driven on. Yeah, that was me getting splattered.

I recognized your gamertag on the metatag and sent you a couple of invites, at times when the player count dropped to 14. You probably didn't realize I was one of the guys in there.

Just realized you're the guy from MGS4! Didn't know you were on Frankie's team now. 343 gets awesomer by the minute!

I think with the influx of new players, we should definitely try splitting up into two groups per Eazy's suggestion. The room was usually full, which means there were probably several people who couldn't get in. And while 8 or 12 can stretch to play on a BTB map, keeping a room of 16 limits the good games to just BTB, and most maps are made for mid-size teams.

I should have a tweaked version of one of my older maps ready for next week.

I found a couple of clips that I rendered using Gamevee and downloaded before they went under, so I re-hosted a few on youtube. Nothing spectacular - I was rendering a small collection of moments to try and capture the flavor of BTB, and why I like it so much.

This remains the single most painful looking splatter I've seen (or been involved in); the moment of impact makes me wince every time. That it was self-inflicted is just gravy.

And this is still one of my favorite "sucks to be him" moments. The dude went from glory to utter destruction in one second flat.

Hm, were you Acronos Seven? I got an invite from that GT and thought it was a random I-love-Recon-and-have-to-play-with-it person so I just ignored it.

I heard baldness is contagious. With both Frankie and Voc there...

Naw, one group'll just get a more concentrated dose of Flight :P
While the other group gets their hitbox excuse taken away. For real though, Ghaleon 4 shot me off a mongoose from behind tonight... Ghaleon

Haha, I remembered that splatter and when I was reviewing the saved film of the game I made sure to rewatch it. Might even make my choptage :D

Speaking of chopper splatters, I had some decent ones tonight but one man's chopperin had me pretty proud:
Mr. Saist pretty much made this flag cap happen on the otherwise difficult to cap map.

His efforts led to the first of the two caps on that map. Here's a clip of how the second one went down.

Sounds good, and I doubt he cares, but Blur brought it up first. Which map are you bringing back? Is it that slingshot one or whatever? I ask because on the page I edit the map list on, it has all the pics from when you showed that map. Nice vids :lol

Yup, that's him. Ya shoulda given me a heads up if you'd wanted to play, fool.

Just had a fun moment in 2 Flag heavies on Standoff. :D

We're down 2-0 and they're running our flag back. They've got both Banshees flying cover for their flag carrier. We've essentially lost at this point, so I respawn, hop in the chopper, and drive down to our silo, immediately set upon by both Banshees. I knock the shields off one, he flies past me in an attempt to flee. I bring the chopper around and shoot him out of the sky. The second Banshee is behind me still, so I swing the chopper around and SPLATTER the other Banshee :lol

Got a film clip, but I can't render it as I'm not Pro enough :(

Adjusted some spawns so defense wouldn't spawn on top of the flag so often. As well as bumping the grav lift spawns down a bit again.

Can you be a little more specific? Spawning near enemies? Out in the open? Facing a wall/fall?

I had fun last night for the short while I was on - my internet ended up dying on me - on the first Chopper level too! :( I love me some Choppers.

I also realised last night how bad I was at Halo. I always thought I was OK up until getting bitchslapped by you lot (it probably didn't help that I'd been drinking either). Oh well, fun times anyway

PS. Sorry to Numbers for the ridiculous amount of beat downs :P I don't think I ever killed you with anything other than the butt of my gun.

You do know you've just set the bar for plot consistency even higher with that, right.

Also, if you need a web development manager / analyst... ;)

Talent and great community people.
I hope we'll get some weekly updates and/or podcasts when they start going more public with their projects.

By the way, there's some interesting stuff playing in the background during the Inside Xbox interview with Frankie.
I don't remember seeing those in the trailer:

Cortana watches you sleep.

That looks like it could fit this bit from the Halo panel: "4:57 - There are a few nuggets in Legends about the future of Master Chief. Don't go much further than end of hAlo 3, but there will be something. "

And this brute is just too funny (from the silly Toei short):

Damn. Lucky you, Voc! You must be very excited. :)

Not sure I really liked Brouhaha. The base where the flag was being kept - I didn't like the layout of it, it's a tad confusing, and I didn't like where the flag spawn was (it should be at the top level of the base).

Is it just me or is every Sandbox variant on Team Doubles a shitfest?

Almost all of them (besides the one underground) is terrible for one reason - there is a high ground with an overview of the rest of the map.

If you're team gains control and momentum, and happens to roll to the top most area, you can just pick off the spawns.

Maybe it's not a problem at lower ranks but I find myself getting frustrated at 42.

Yeah, Slingshot. I kind of like the map, but the the (confusing) man cannons are going away, going to add some other geometry instead.

Edit: thanks for the gif, Self Induced. :)

Fun games. Mage was a freaking sweet map, and those few who remained on to play that halo-2ish game of assault on EazyB's creek.. oh man, that was awesome!

Edit: vhfive's remake of Sanctuary is awesome too.
I had a great time, thanks for inviting me guys. The Halo 2-style Assault on Ber Ber Creek was definitely my favorite game of the night. Congrats again for getting in MM, EazyB.

Out of curiosity, how do you make you .gifs from videos? I've been using MediaCoder and GIMP+Gimp Animation Package, and it takes forever, freezes my computer, and creates huge files that take forever to scale down. I tried to make some .gifs out of the ODST trailer, and they came out to about 20 MB.

Woah, 343 Industries sounds like it's getting better. Congrats Voc! How long until we have a 1000+ page Halo book written by him? :D

Voc has joined the empire?!? {Congratulations, completely deserved}
What does this mean for Ascendant Justice? Shall Coco (& ze others) be carrying on the flag of awesomeness?

I converted the .flv file to .mov for use in Photoshop CS3. The rest was taken care of by online tutorials and lots of messing around. Took me a while to realize 17 frames is better than 68 frames :P

i still find the base and hill area a little confusing :/
Could ya be a little more specific? Is it a matter of not knowing how to get from point A to B? Cause I thought I'd made the main routes pretty clear in both the base (flag ramp) and the numerous hill ascents. Or is it a matter of those areas being to busy? I could understand this in respect to the base but the hill area is pretty wide open.

Any way you think I could make it less confusing?

no matter what happens with halo in the future, things like hiring voc. makes me feel great about where their heart is. congrats and good luck.
