Team Slayer, 3v3. I look at my two teammates - TS ranks are 9 and 26, overall ranks are 40 and 50. Two of our opponents are on alt accounts, the third is a legit 27, I figure we have a shot.

Until I realize that neither of my teammates are playing.

The 27 isn't a huge problem; he's spending most of his time killing the AFC guys (he ended up going 12-5, and killed me once). The other two, though... they're working together, pretty well. One's almost always got a rocket launcher, the other cleans up with a BR. I keep spawning out in the open, they keep taking me down. In the meantime, they're building their overall score by killing AFCers, too.

I decided that my only real goal was to keep both of them from getting Perfections.

I succeeded. It was a good game. :D
I can see it now: AR start on Standoff, am I right?

Personally, since I'm not a good player, it only takes a single cool kill for me to be satisfied with my performance.

Link please? Then it can be on one thousand and one file shares.

Played Halo 3 online a lot when it first came out, however last year my 360 broke and I turned to TF2 to sooth my addiction :lol

Despite buying a new 360 last Christmas, I've only recently gotten a gold subscription and am looking to get back into Halo 3, any chance I could have a few games with you fine fellows? was quite good back in the day, can't remember the name for it but my rank was when you got 45 in a ranked game and however number of matches?

The tag is Fyrh, might be on tonight if anyone wants to play :D

EDIT: Forgot to mention, ain't played halo since January so might be a tad rusty :p

I was wondering, what do you Halo Studs consider a good game personally? Good K/D, quantity of kills, flags taken/bombs planted or just winning in general?

Also, anyone that wants to play some Matchmaking/Customs at around 9pm GMT give me a message.

A good game = winning (and contributing in some method)

A fun game = competitive (can be fun even if the game is a loss)

Good clean, competitive fun is all I want. It's much more thrilling to win a close game than to blow out another team.

A good game is one with AR starts. Duh.

How many playlists? :(

He's a hardcore Halo fan, man... even if it means developing unthinkable infections in unthinkable places. That's what being hardcore is all about.

Holy crap! It's like a disease.

(It's been a bad day, and this made me smile. Thanks.)

I remember when all this was first shown. Immediately knew that I had to have that Cortana Statute (I assume it's not full-sized).
I continue to know this and wait... (for money to appear)

Also, perhaps Backflip was overzealous in his rage, but it is extremely frustrating, and makes one feel powerless in ensuring this losers get punished. My recent foray back into TS has dug up my strong feelings about alt accounts, afk/griefers and quitters.

so...why isn't it in any playlists....?

A better question would be, why isn't the 7/7 list a permanent social list? Take out Collonade and that list was better than half of the playlists currently out.

I'd take that, plus more situated flag and bomb variants from other maps like The Pit, Standoff, and Boundless.

Seriously, this should happen.

It's coming back for the 7 on the 7th next month, but I'm also anxious to see what the plans are (if any) for a community playlist. I had a blast in this one.

What was it like? I only know about the opportunity to play Bungie employees for a chance at Recon but I don't know what the playlists were like for it.

Basically a collection of popular community maps.

I think a good way to go about implementing such a playlist will be to make it experience-less and have about 5 new maps for a week.

Wow, that 10 years ago video was awesome. Here's to the next 10 years of our gaming lives with Bungie and whatever they have in store. :)

Oh right, I remember reading that now.

4 v 4 playlist, mixed Slayer and CTF. The variety was the real draw: I only played on a dozen or so variants, but they were all very different styles of map. I thought only a few of them were truly excellent at first blush, but I had a good time across the board. (Even though a couple maps had minor issues.) How they would hold up over a longer period in a permentant playlist, I'm not sure.

A well maintained (no limiting changes to once per month) community playlist should've been up by now.

I don't really understand the appeal of experience-less playlists, epecially when they're counted as social games. Just makes people quit more often cause there's no exp penalty.

It messes with the numbers which is kind of annoying.

Maybe there should be a penalty just for quitting... but I think it's better for people to just have fun rather than to play seriously all the time.

Ahh, slayer and CTF sounds excellent. I love a good CTF match, my favorite objective gametype. It would be neat to see what kind of maps the community comes up with in Sandbox. As soon as a buddy gets back from his trip on Sunday, I'll finally get to try the Mythic Map Pack for myself. Promised I'd wait... damn.

It'd be nice if there was a search feature for Custom games. Perhaps that would keep a lot of those kind of people out of the competative MM. What was the reason again against Bungie doing it? I remember Perfect Dark 0 had that feature.

I think that's what social is for. It's hard enough to get most randoms to try even with the "threat" of exp penalties. And what's the harm in giving people exp points?

I think they argued that people would just use it and hurt the MM population. Kind of agree,MM makes it a lot easier to find nice varided matches. Custom lists in most games come down to a list of everyone playing the most popular map over and over again with the same gametype, bleh. But Bungie needs to be delivering the good majority of what the community wants to argue that MM can substitute for easier custom games. And right now there's a lack of custom variants, BR starts, and competitive flag respawns.

It's a double edged sword. The idea of Social is you can play without an extreme pressure of winning and people will take it less seriously since they don't run a risk of de-leveling for losing. It's carefree and meant to just have fun. That it's carefree is also the problem, people could care a less about quitting because it doesn't affect their ranked games. You just can't win. It's also true that many people don't care about quitting in ranked matches because they are probably just playing one of their many accounts and only have one they genuinely care about. Sigh.

So the most viable solution would be for the user created maps to have it's own gametype. Sounds like you guys had a blast with the trial, time for Bungie to make it a permanent playlist!

Hopefully if there's a continued community playlist with Sandbox, Foundry, and certain other variants, there's some various tweaks in gameplay. For example, in smaller maps like Ber Ber Creek and my own, Access, that a change for flag timers become shorten. A CTF Classic variant, as well. I noticed this today because I was playing Multi-CTF in Access with a Bungie Group and it took so long for me to return our flag back to base., when in a great reality, it shouldn't take any more than 5,8, or 10 seconds.

Aye, had my first few games in months last night and in the second game my other 4 teammates dropped out for no apparent reason, just after the other team got the first flag capture. Was having a good game before that, needless to say the game turned a tad 1-sided but I stayed on regardless. I remember it happening a fair few times when I was playing regularly as well, I always try stay on till the end and kudos to some players they commend me for staying on till the end.

Anyway, was difficult adjusting back to the 360 controller after using my mouse exclusively for so long, had to switch the sensitivity down from 7 to 4 :lol

That's a good way to put it.

I think I've played Orbital about 4,000 times today. I like the map, but at such a volume it can become tiresome. I've been playing Social Team DLC. Sandbox is perfect for neutral assault, probably the most fun I've had on that map. Ever.

You deserve to play it another 4,000

You're a disgusting excuse for a Halo player.

On a community playlist:

I might be alone in this here, but I think the best part about the Bungie vs. World playlist was the novelty of it. If you have a permanent playlist of just community made Foundry and Sandbox maps, I feel that the novelty would wear off quick and the maps would get stale.

I do like what they did with the maps on the BvW playlist. Shishka did a quick look through to see if the map wasn't modded or if it wasn't completely broken, and just threw them in a playlist for 24 hours, where not much harm could be done.

I think that making one weekend a month a community map DEXP weekend would probably be the best way to go about it. That way, you'd get a new rotation of maps without the fear of having to be stuck with a completely horrid one for an entire month and the map makers get a lot of feedback to improve their own maps.

If the map is determined to be good enough, then it would eventually be placed into the normal playlist rotations.

I'm sure that its much more complicated than just that, but so far it seemed to work well with BvW, and hopefully we'll get some of the better maps from that into the playlists.

Wait, what? He said he likes Orbital and Sandbox is the one that is perfect (for neutral assault.)

I like Orbital too, but any map will become tiring if you play too much of it in one sitting.

:lol I know it's just that you bolded perfect making it seem like he was saying Orbital is perfect.
Edit: Sorry he already had bolded perfect, nvm.
