Ah, glad to hear that it's working again. My connection has been kind of shitty lately. I don't know what it is, but a lot of the games that I play are really laggy. I'm not even sure that it's me.Striker said:Was having a NAT issue, but it's cleared up, I believe.
Tried out on game of Actionsack and got Punchout on Assembly.

Nice work, Ghaleon. Well-thought out. Sadly, nothing will come of it.GhaleonEB said:So, the spawns on Standoff.
My favorite of the Halo novels. Hope you enjoy. It takes a little while to gather some steam, but once you get to the Covenant-heavy parts, it's pure gravy.Arnie said:Just bought Contact Harvest, going to dig into it tonight.

Give me a couple films to show that the situation improves and I'd be more than happy to replace the Snipers and Heavies variants in Matchmaking, and give you proper credit for the fixes.

I wouldn't mind plotting out defensive barriers, blockades, or something that I feel would better work in Snipers, and spawns, of course...

lolwut? This is exactly what they did between H2 and H3. The Sniper in Halo 3 shoots slower, has recoil, and lacks the rediculous amount of auto aim it had in H2.Soldat said:The only thing cheap about the sniper rifle, in my esteemed yet humble opinion, is the amount of ammo it can hold. There is no reason why that thing should be able to hold more than 10 shots. Another balancing option would be to make the recoil a bit worse and/or lengthen the time between subsequent shots.
Tashi0106 said:oh word? Ghaleon, upload that ish into your file share so HaloGAF can test it out. Thanks Shishka.
I just played Snipers on Standoff again and it was just awful. At one point we had enemies on either sides of the map and we just kept spawning in between them and getting wrecked. Cover on one side is an open shot on another.
Now players have a better chance but there is still an outrageous advantage when a team controls the back of both bases.
If both teams are in the back of each base, the team spawning in the middle can take cover and hope the other team scoots forward and reveals themselves. If they're smart though they stay back and force the spawning team to advance towards them, there's no way they'll make it to the back of one of the bases without the people on the other side taking them out.Tashi0106 said:^^^ lol yea but now If I spawn in cover of one side I can turn my back to the cover and try to pick off the guy who got to our side safely.

Inconsistency in his engagement with the community, coupled with some very difficult to understand decisions about how the playlists are run. Lots of people here play a lot of Halo and feel like they have an investment in the community, and to see bad decisions being made with no explanation giving is annoying. For some people that turns into hate.Stormtrooper30 said:One thing that I have never understood in this thread is the Shisihka hate.
One teleporter inside each base, with two exits (so you go out of a random one) at the back of the map. Maybe with gravlifts to push people away from the back of the teleporter exit.EazyB said:I really don't see how Snipers on the map would work with the back areas accessible.

Okay, but it can still be a cheap weapon, just like the rockets or the sword. The main problem I have with the sniper, though, is that it doesn't require the user to expose himself to a certain degree of danger.Sai-kun said:What the fuck? :lol Of course it's intended to dominate. That's why it's a power weapon. A good player with a sniper deserves every kill he gets with it. You either use it as a power move to defend or a power move to attack and push forward.
Well, yeah, a good sniper won't stand out in the middle of the battlefield and let other people take shots at him just in the way that someone who is good with rockets or sword won't run out into the middle to try and rocket/sword somebody. Camping with a sword or rockets is waaaaaaaay more unfair than someone who camps with sniper.Dax01 said:Okay, but it can still be a cheap weapon, just like the rockets or the sword. I don't see how one is more unfair than the other. I'd say they're both about equal..backflip10019 said:Well, yeah, a good sniper won't stand out in the middle of the battlefield and let other people take shots at him just in the way that someone who is good with rockets or sword won't run out into the middle to try and rocket/sword somebody. For instance, on the Pit, it is much easier to camp with rockets or sword at sword than it is to camp with a sniper and pick people off. With a sniper, you're zoomed in for a good amount of the time when you're taking aim, which allows you to be snuck up on from behind or the sides. With a sword or rockets, you can just crouch behind a corner and wait for some unsuspecting soul to peek around and destroy him easily. That's not exactly the case with a sniper unless you're particularly efficient with it.Dax01 said:I don't see how one is more unfair than the other. I'd say they're both about equal..
Different maps lend themselves well to different styles of play, though. A sniper on Isolation is much harder to take down because they have a view of pretty much the whole map from the top perch and they have an easy escape route available, for example.backflip10019 said:For instance, on the Pit, it is much easier to camp with rockets or sword at sword than it is to camp with a sniper and pick people off. While that's true, I still think that the average Halo player holding the sniper is even more vulnerable than the average player holding a BR. When you're shot when you're sniping, you get zoomed out and are forced to either A) try to no scope/quick scope the attacking player, B) turn, drop your head and run for cover or C) die. And A is particularly difficult to pull off when 4 shots of the BR can take you down. The point of the matter is that unless you're playing Avalanche or Sandtrap and the sniper is hiding in a tiny unnoticeable crevice, a couple of players with BRs can take him down regardless of whether or not he's in cover.Willeth said:Different maps lend themselves well to different styles of play, though. Way to totally not read the next two sentences of my post:Dax01 said:Who said that was the what the sniper is for? You? It's suppose to dominate? Yeah, uh huh.
Let's not try to change the meaning of what people are saying, Mkay?Me said:On larger maps, sure, a sniper may dominate sometimes. But thats what your sniper is for. The sniper on one team should always try to counter-snipe the other sniper. Makes for some intense standoffs on Valhalla.
On larger maps, no, he's not. Otherwise I wouldn't be complaining about it. Even if you have the sniper, going around and looking for the other sniper isn't very practical. You said "should" but that almost never happens.Stormtrooper30 said:A sniper is constantly in danger of enemies with BRs and other snipers.
You act like they pick a spot and stayed zoomed-in until they find someone or they die. That's not the case.Plus, while they are scoped in they have no radar and have a smaller perspective on the whole battlefield because of the scope.
And unless you are a really good player and can consistantly pull off close range no scopes, then camping with the sniper on small maps is just useless.
Yeah, he can move to another place where nobody can easily get him.As for large maps, a good sniper will not camp anyway, he will move around the map.
I didn't say they were cheap, I said they can be cheap. I'm not wrong.backflip10019 said:Dax, you're wrong. Snipers aren't cheap; ARs are.
Christ, make up your mind. Everything is cheap at some point. Oh, I just shot that guy in the face 6 times with a BR and he didn't die? Cheap. Oh, I got rocketed by some guy camping around a corner. Cheap. I got lasered off my spawn? Cheap.Dax01 said:I didn't say they were cheap, I said they can be cheap. I'm not wrong.
That has more to deal with online/lag/netcode/whatever than the actual game.backflip10019 said:just shot that guy in the face 6 times with a BR and he didn't die?
Agreed. The rockets, laser, sword, gravity hammer, can all be cheap. But as Sai-Kun pointed out, the sniper is a power weapon and it, too, can be cheap.Oh, I got rocketed by some guy camping around a corner. Cheap. I got lasered off my spawn? Cheap.
