If I see a spot open or something, I'll join your guys' customs. I got my stuff worked out so hopefully smooth sailing from here.

I got my NAT open again D: If there's a spot...send me an invite X) I promise I'll play and not be distracted by other games and stuff!

also i wish i could get to general in team actionsack. this is totally my playlist

Sounds like you want to make out with him or something.

Walshy is not very good compared to alot of other pros.
Normally I'd agree with you, but he played damn well tonight. In many of the games against Str8 Rippin, he had the best K/D ratio on his team, which is saying something considering that Neighbor and Roy are both on Instinct.

fun games in customs and mm

my fav moment

No u. That was terrible. I was denied the cap AND betrayed. I mean, wtf? :)

Customs tonight was some of the best fun I've had in a while on Halo. We had 16/14 people for a couple of games and we got to play all of the GAF BTB maps. Ghaleon's and Eazy's maps were a lot of fun to play. I mainly spent my time cruising in the warthog and accidentally killing Ghaleon (like, seriously. I betrayed Ghaleon and Tashi like 4-5 times tonight). Invisible hammer sneaking on Sai was awesome... until Cocop gave away my position.

But yea, I had a lot of fun driving around in the vehicles tonight. I had a few epic jumps and such (one of which costed us a cap).

Vehicles landing on me from out of nowhere was the theme of the night. On Entrenched I see a Warthog getting parked on the ramp leading to thief flag. I step off and to the side, look up, and see the rear axle descending upon me. Crunch.

On Bruhaha, I'm minding my own business, patrolling the flag ramp to make sure no one is coming down from above. I round the corner and a fucking Chopper pastes me coming down from the top floor. Imagine walking upstairs to use the bathroom in your house, and you look up just in time to see a Buick ram you full speed. I was roughly that surprised. :lol

Protip: Lessen the # of vehicles and respawn on the GAF custom maps. They are pretty much supposed to be thought of as power weapons.

Otherwise it would be a heavies gametype.

Can't recall how many times a warthog was destroyed only to have the other team respawn and start up another warthog.

also...Klitosaurus.

What was the name of that 1 map we played which was clearly meant for 1 sided gametypes. Now that was an awesome match. ;)

I got a Tripple Kill with a Sentinal Beam during that match. Someone needs to BungieTube it. :p

Also, here are a some very short clips from tonight. 1 is from customs and the other 2 are from some GAF match making we did after GAF customs. Sorry for no audio, Windows Movie Maker is the fucking worst.

Also at during the last clip I say, "Juices, wanna see some sick spawn killing?" Then it happens, achievement unlocked. I unlocked 3 from Mythic tonight lol.

lol, I still can't believe that happened. I was watching that thing shoot and it just looked so weird to me. :lol

edit: Good games tonight everyone. Glad I finally got to play with the great Cocopjojo. We had a pretty awesome escape with the flag on Entrenched. Which is awesome btw!

Dazzle 90 eh. 1 thing I have noticed is that its capturing at non widescreen format. Is that its limit or just how you have it setup? (on your end)

I've tried to capture in widescreen, I've tried converting the video the widescreen in multiple video editing programs. I can't get the fuckin thing to go widescreen on youtube. I'm convinced that it's the card itself. Also, it only works with XP which is why Juices parted with it. I'm sure there are new ones that support widescreen and all of that crazy new technology lol.

Mine is a Dazzle 100. Its one of the few that will work with our TV settings (PAL 60). Really annoying but at least it does widescreen I guess. Have you tried using Pinnacle Studios to capture? Its a shitty program but its by the people who made the card, so maybe you can get 16:9 with it.

I'm a little worried that ODSTs aren't going to be as down-to-earth as I originally thought. In one of the demos, an ODST in Firefight picks up a turret and walk around with it, faster than the Chief can. This doesn't make much sense to me. These guys don't have the augmented armour and everything. They're military. Elite military, sure, but still just normal dudes.
Quoting this from the last page because I feel like it got missed. Is no-one else concerned about this?

Just want to jump in here to say that suspension of disbelief requires consistency. It's easy to swallow the big fish providing all the little ones stay in line. That a marine possesses the strength to lift a turret the size of himself while presumably being unable to perform similar feats of brute force wreaks havoc on internal consistency.

That said, I'm not bothered about it in this case at all.

Dude, you're majoring on a minor here. No havoc has been wrought. If people are really going to get hung up on lifting a turret, I'm going to get on the phone with Bungie right now and tell them they should pull that feature from the game. In its place, I think a note should pop-up when you try to grab a turret telling everyone who wanted to have fun with it that people on a message board thought this would wreak havoc on the game's internal consistency.

As a game developer you have to weigh what's fun against what's not. There are a thousand different ways to explain why an ODST can lift this turret from a fictional standpoint, and they're a hell of a lot easier for me to come up with then, say why humans are still using projectile-based weaponry 500 years from now, the significant improbability of there being a large number of habitable planets in our galaxy or the fact that all of the aliens are bi-peds and speak in a manner which we can easily communicate. Some things are done because they're cool and fun - not necessarily because they make complete sense. I think Halo does a grand job of trying to patch things together in a way which is believable and enjoyable, but I think getting hung up on small, incremental things like turret carrying is really ridiculous. My apologies to those who think it's reasonable to do so.

LTTP, but this hasn't been answered yet...

I do have a question, tho I don't know if it can be answered...is the new visor setting time-limited, i.e. needs to recharge like Halo's flashlight? I would imagine not, but I can see some logic in not allowing it to be on all the time.

It can be on all the time, if you choose - but as one of the Bungie guys said to me this week, "if you use it in bright daylight, it'll make your eyes bleed."

The ROOKIE's part of the campaign is mostly at night... but the flashbacks (at least some of them) are during daylight hours. (In Firefight, it's pretty much essential in the night map Bungie showed... but death-from-bloom in the day map.)

and also...

Oh man I got killed by camo guy so many times. Whether he had rockets or hammer, I got fucked up lol.

There was too much camo on that map. :P I'm pretty sure Stormtrooper got it every time.

Oh and Eazy and someone else managed to camp out with a Chopper [Eazy :P] and a warthog for like 5 minutes during a round.

Haha, It took me awhile to catch up with you every time because the hammer made me slower. I'm not sure how Cocop saw me (or knew I had a hammer, for that matter) but it was too late for Sai. I checked the time everytime I got the camo, so I picked it up like 6 times that game. It was epic.

Maybe people don't find this to be a problem from a fictional standpoint but rather from a gameplay one. I don't think people want more of the same as an ODST and felt Bungie would make playing like an ODST feel a lot different than playing as a Spartan, and with that significant changes to gameplay other than a different health mechanism and a visor.

I understand using the turret is fun, but so are a lot of other things that could have been implemented to give the gameplay a distinct feel from its predecessor. If the gameplay makes you feel like Chief when the game is about ODSTs, then the only thing Bungie would be delivering on is the fiction, in which case they fail at when you're already lugging a turret around.

Edit: Bungie stripped down the ODSTs by removing features like equipment handling, boarding moving vehicles and dual wielding, amongst other other things. I personally feel that's a very lazy way to go about it. Some new gameplay mechanism should have been introduced to compensate for those that were stripped off to make the gameplay fresh instead of making it feel like Halo CE without a radar.

"Don't run, Sai!"

"Don't turn around, Sai!"

I haven't really felt most of the community maps in Matchmaking so far, but I have to say: Wastelands is really not a very good map.

In Neutral Assault, the bomb plant zone is a bit ridiculous. Yesterday the first five minutes of the game was spent with both teams trying to figure out to how to get to it - we'd get to the base and then wander in circles.

Under the base is very confusing - a lot of the space is wasted, and there's dead end nooks and crannies that don't seem to serve any purpose.

The center is far too open. It seems like the goal is a Standoff-like BR shootout, but with even less cover and zero around the sides. Compounding this are the spawns in front of the base - lots and lots of spawn killing.

And finally, in CTF (just played), the flag reset time is way too long. I't's been beaten to death, but I still cannot fathom why the flag return time is the same on a map this small as it is on Valhalla and Avalanche. Given how open the center is, and the spawn points out in the open, if the flag gets pushed to the bottom of the front ramp, might as well give up. There's clear line of sight from the opposing base to the flag, so there's no way to return it given the flag return setting.

There's also no motivation to take the flag along any other route other than straight across the center. No cover to sneak around on the sides, no alternate escape routes from the base, nada. It's about getting that first touch, and then spawn killing the other team with grenade spam until the flag is nudged to a cap. Not dynamic, and not fun.

I wish I had more constructive criticism on this one. But I think it's just a deeply flawed map design for objective games.

I have to agree. Played it twice yesterday (slayer and multi flag) and it didn't feel right to me. The center layout had a very poor setup for cover and it felt like I was hiding more than playing whenever I tried to push up. There is virtually no incentive to leave your base as map control is virtually impossible. During the end of a less evenly matched game we were able to get our team on top of their base and at that point they may as well have set their controllers down.

It's interesting because everyone I was playing with felt like it was a good map but to me it stuck out as the worse. Guess that shows you how diverse tastes in maps can be.
I like Sandtarp.

Thats the best part the center is a fight for OS (between teams that know what the hell is going on) no cover makes teams either take a left or right route to the bases. In a slayer gametype we dominated because we had people at base and push out on both sides making an exceptional amount of crossfire possible. Another bonus is the limited amount of power weapons, vehicles, and equipment unlike most of the maps during custom games night. You really gotta watch how much shit is put on the map sometimes to keep a balance in the gameplay, something that seems to be way too often overlooked.
