Are you talking about the Reach trailer or is there another one I haven't seen yet? I didn't think it was the "best" by any means.

I'm guessing he means the drop pod decent to New Mombasa from orbit.

It's funny. I remember speculating/hoping that we would see that kind of a landing at the start of Halo 3, with the key ship descending to Earth. The Banshee escape video from Valhalla in the beta seemed to indicate that kind of transition was possible, but it wasn't there. And now it's there in ODST. Nice to see Bungie leveraging their tech to greater cinematic effect. Looked fuckin' awesome.

Voc, Coco: will there be an article about the Reach trailer?

If Reach has a class-based MM, I'm hoping it isn't like TF2 (don't really like TF2) and more along the lines of BF: Bad Company. I don't really like class-based MM, but something about Bad Company and the way it handled its multiplayer was superb.

They should've shown the 3 new maps, I'd like to see them in action.

I'm loving the open city and the interactions with the SI. Halo 3: ODST is HOT. Skybox is amazing too.

:D :lol That was a fun demo- It says overkill in firefight mode, I'll pay 60 dollaz to hear that over and over again.

I keep getting all these shitty mythic maps in my Doubles and Slayer? Whatd u do Bungie up the mythic percentage by a shitload?

Tundra, Purplexity, Cubed, Default Sandbox = Awful

Watching that IGN demo has totally redeemed ODST's E3 presence for me. They definitely should have have shown the hub map and waypoint setup, however quickly, during the conference.

I also love how Firefight's waves are more random a Halo's variety in enemy types/behaviors and vehicles will make it far more worthwhile than Horde mode. That fact that you can get overkills and such is also pretty awesome.

I think I may've mentioned it already but I hope they have some kinds of customization to go along with Firefight. Some kind of experience or unlock system to get more player skins and stuff. How awesome would it be to be able to play as Captian Keys or maybe some even goofier skins.

The problem is there'll be a leaderboard so I can't see them letting players alter much of the gameplay.

Unless... they have a unranked or "custom game" mode where you could change the Firefight gametype. Maybe even use characters that are vastly superior to ODST like the flight for example.

So the Sarge is back, we know that for sure. But I wouldn't be surprised if your prediction is true. Just as long as the player is in the same class as an ODST I wouldn't be surprised if they made it into the game.

My awesome fucking stats says yes its fair :) Seriously though I love destroying groups of 50s or 3 50s and us having NO 50s...makes no goddamn sense.

Hey sometimes people do nice things for each other. You could be helping. (I know about 50% of its getting shitty teammates, I literally had a kid today on my team say "Yea they have highest skills but they suck at Exp Battles")

Forgot to mention that you were partied with an alt account 10 levels lower than yourself.

Did you really expect to level up that way. Now that juices is a higher level you should get better competition. Will you level up as fast as him? No, trueskill has slowed your level progress. Does that suck? Sure, it's not fair, I guess if getting a 50 means that much to you. Should you get competitive games in TS? Yes, and that's all you should worry about.

While the trueskill system is wacky and not very rewarding, it gets the job done in giving you a competitive game as long as you don't cheat the system and make a new account or if you're fresh to a playlist. Save for any additional alt accounts you had close games, and if Juices was where he should be (at least high 40's) you'd get even better matches.

I think a lot of the trueskill bitching would be remidied if they unattached the highest skill to your service record or to the officer grade.

As many games as you win against level 50's I think you lost(to level 50's and lower) that many more, which is why Trueskill wont move you up.

The more games played(in said playlist) + The less chance of you moving in rank.

Does TrueSkill suck because of its lame ass system, absolutely.
Whatever the Rank/Exp system is for Reach, I hope its like Halo 2, each individual playlist having its own seperate ranking. (not talking about the ranks you get based on exp)
 
Its like the way Trueskill is now I don't wanna go IN on my 46 in SWAT til I get Tashi and Backflip with me because I know each time I mess up and lose it makes it that much harder to get to 50. And in turn I play less Halo per day.

When in H2 when you start winning more at the rank you are you start going up and if you stop playing and lose some skill, its ok, because you can eventually climb back up.

Sure theres not 0 mobility on the H3 system, but it sucks real hard.

I find there is an incredible disparity between low 40's and 48-50. But you have a new account with very few TS games. If you can beat those guys consistently, you'll get your 50. Backflip on the other hand will have to fight tooth and nail to get up there and will get competitive games all the way as long as he's not playing with alts.

Does my brother's alt really sap that much rank from me? I don't really understand why it would considering that we're playing people around the same rank as us. A large majority of the teams that we played against had multiple people at around 45 +/- 2 ranks. Why does it make a difference that I'm playing with a lower level on my team?

And for the record, I honestly don't give a flying fuck about my rank. It's just disheartening to win that many games in a row and not move up once.

No, dude. I dug the Reach trailer, but I was actually talking about the ODST drop at the beginning of the single player demonstration, which is inarguably the best cinematic in any Halo game. Period. So don't argue about it. ;-)
 
If you keep winning games and shitting all over 40-45 then you will rank up just keep playing its prety simple hope this helps all of you peace.

This is true, however it will take you a long ass time(as in many many wins) to do so.
 
ODST demo was great BTW. Super hyped for Firefight. So awesome! Also maybe there'll be more skins? Since you get Sgt. Johnson if you preorder...so maybe there's more :D

Halo 2 rank system, combination of Halo Trilogy map favorites, and Halo 3's weapon style of balance would be great.

If it's a FPS, I hope they put in a Far-Cry 2 like map editor.

I know I said something to the effect of me not thinking that their new multiplayer mode would be a cooperative experience like this, but I'm completely stoked about what we've been shown so far of Firefight - especially after hearing the podcast last night. The divergent and unpredictable nature of the waves coupled with being able to use Halo's sandbox of weapons and vehicles will make this a big deal for me. Personally speaking, I'll be playing this disc more than the multiplayer one - no question about it.

And yeah, the Staten demonstration on IGN was quite a bit better than the smaller one they presented at the conference. Either way, this game is going to be amazing. A vast open world environment, player dictated encounters in non-linear scenarios and a new weapon set which includes this beast they're calling the Auto-Mag, which to me, when zoomed in, reminds me more of the BR from the E3 demo of old than anything else (which is a really good thing). Can't wait to use it. If it works as good as they're showing, I don't even need a BR.
