the easiest way is to download an irc cleint. i use colloquy but thats for macs. i know a lot of people use chatzilla which works with firefox.
after that you choose a sever from efnet.org that is close to you (i use irc.choopa.net).
then the room/channel is #bungie

Thanks for the help. I'll suppose I'll have to try that out if no one else has other options.

How do you choose a server from efnet? Do I just like sign in on efnet?
 
So I take back what I said about not making an ODST thread. We definately need one, a couple weeks before it comes out. My thought is, Halo 3 MP discussion can stay in here, and the ODST campaign and Firefight discussion head over there.

I can't remember if someone else wanted to make that thread. I'm game if no one else wants it.

Sweet. For anyone who is making the thread, all the HaloGAF regulars should have the opportunity to participate in help making the OP look nice (art, content, etc). Though I can understand if this isn't feasible.

I nominate Ghaleon to start the new thread. But I hate new threads. So much to keep up with. The only thread I ever read/post in on NeoGAF is this thread. I don't think I've ever posted in another thread. Now I'm gonna have to have 2 tabs open in my browser... poop.

But changing between the 2 threads is going to be like changing discs between Halo 3 Multiplayer and ODST Campaign/FireFight.

Same here. Now I have 2 tabs open at work. The H3 thread and the ODST/Reach E3 thread.

But seeing the discussions and the new blood in the ODST thread does validate to me that ODST does deserve it's own thread.

It's probably worth it to have the newcomers for the little while they'll stay. I give it a month before it just reduces into the same people posting in there as the Halo 3 thread. At that point we may as well see that thread off.

I gotta say, I actually really like Action Sack so far. There's some stuff that needs to be tweaked, but all-in-all I enjoyed the change of pace in the games.

Would love to see dodgeball in it eventually.

Speaking of which. The three new maps are the one part of ODST they haven't shown any of this week, aside from Staten very deliberately mentioning Heretic as Midship (though we all knew that by now). I wonder if a map reveal is Friday's treat. Or a vidoc. One or the other.

Just trying to set expectations low.

Apparently the stream this weekend is going to be through ESPN360.com and they are like against net neutrality or for it? (I always forget which is the evil one)

Anyways certain ISP's cant view it, TWC included.

If you want to see if you can view it goto ESPN360.com and click view replay and itll tell you if you're outside the terms. Apparently the ISP has to have Espn360 available to their viewers or something.

That sucks dude.
 
While we are in talks about a future ODST thread, I whipped this concept up quickly for fun. All the stuff in the ODST Guide on Bnet is perfect for an official thread hub too.

yup fuck playing 50 games. played 8/9 with tashi and went from a 46 to 46 figured fuck that I don't have the time. gave a booster a one month and we played 17/18 to get a 50.

Still played, competition wasn't any tougher at the higher ranks.

I feel good.

yea that was gay, we only dropped 1 game too. But, Welcome to the Club!!

Also, about the whole MLG Espn360.com shit. There's an MLG show at like 7PM on Friday that's exclusive to Espn360.com. The rest of the tournament will be available on MLGPro.com.

O is that what it is...I misread it as all of the broadcast is going to be on ESPN360. Regardless hopefully its all on Justin.tv by someone.


On another note I was just at H3F for the first time in forever and I saw this montage Kampy's Apex: http://files.filefront.com/Kampy+Final+H3+Montage+xwmv/;13825223;/fileinfo.html

Its 340 MB but its 10 mins long and its not just all MLG I found it amazing! Incredible DPM.

Also, what does Non Cold Storage DLC mean? Does that mean everything but Cold Storage, or just the Legendary pack? Doesn't make sense to me really...

Since I went through the whole weekend plus the Memorial Day, I say a week and a half, total. Kind of surprising, since the way their Custom Support agents speak, you would get it in two-three weeks, not a day later.

I know there's a Ninja variant in there, but is there Ninja CTF?? Ninja Flag on Sanctuary, Colossus, and Beaver Creek was damn fun. They were tremendous symmetrical maps though that fit perfect for 4v4 styles. Halo 3 has Standoff that would work great in that setup, but nothing else non-Sandbox. Perhaps add a couple variants from Sandbox for Ninja CTF and that would be great, too.

Keep calling them and if you have to, make up a "friend" who got his back soon when you both sent in your consoles at the same time. I'm not exactly sure if you got red ringed or not, but my past two send-ins were red ring, and they didn't take any longer than two weeks.

So, to clog up the page a bit since I haven't done that in an entire day or so, here's the first completed version of, um, a map. Either Whiplash or Crooked, not sure just what yet.

Base, Rear:

Usual assortment of Warthog and two Mongoose, plus plasma grenades, SMGs, a power drain and an extra BR. Top center has a turret overlooking the approach to the base. Twin ramps reach the top, where the flag sits extended into the center a bit. (In Assault, the arming zone is below that on the ground.) Access to the base from the two tunnels in front, from the rear, and from the elevated walkway to the left.

Long sight line, right to the other side of the map. Reminiscent of the spines on Sandtrap, an extra BR and the Needler is up there. I have a feeling the Needler could be pretty powerful on this map. I neglected to get it in the shot, but if I pulled the camera back a bit, there's the missile pod and Chopper, on either side of an angled block. You can see it in the overview here.


Center, between the elevated walkways:

One way leads to rockets, the other a man cannon. Go straight, it's an overshield and one jump away from getting to the opposing walkway.

Hitting the enemy man cannon launches you to the far corner of their base, with a bit of cover and the regen on landing. The idea was to allow players to move to a side of the map quickly that would otherwise not get used. Given that the action is tilted along an angle, my hope is that approaching the base from this side will prove advantageous.

There's an alley between the base and walkway. The ramps in the center prevent just driving straight to the other side - if you want to do that, thread the octagon room.

Not in file share yet, as I'd like to test it to make sure it doesn't play like crap. I think it's pretty, but I honestly have no idea how it will play. But hey, another map out of the system. *wipes brow*

Meh Halo 3's shotgun is just as bad.

Its like AR all over the dudes face and a beatdown but oh he shoots after the beatdown which you heard hit but oh that grace period for beatdowns (simultaneous gay shit) he then shoots and you are dead but somehow hes alive. So dumb.

I saw that, is there a schedule on their website for times? That site is terrible I spent 10 minutes looking around and could not see it. Are they still going to even show the first rounds and such that are earlier?

Looks like things start at 5:30PM EST.

This whole ESPN360 shit is ridiculous. The system they had working for the Meadowlands was working well enough -- why fix what isn't (terribly) broken?

They're still doing that from what I know. It's just that Friday Night Kickoff show that's going to be exclusive to ESPN360.com for us in America. We are going to miss 2 championship bracket matches though. Str8 Ripping vs Darkest Hour and Carbon vs Heaven and Earth. I don't care about that first match but the 2nd one has me interested. Carbon's got a new lineup with Defy in there and those Heaven and Earth guys are pretty good. This should be an awesome event though. Yea unless that page has wrong info. It does seem weird that they would stream those 2 matches before the official tournament show starts. I hope so though.
