I've had this happen to me as well. When Gamevee was still up, a film that they captured for me switched perspectives midgame. Would be interested to know why this occurs.

it's very annoying. I'm trying to cut 4 videos from the same match of different perspectives right now so that they match up perfectly and with all of glitches in the film and what I had to do to compensate and do my own cutting, it's going to be a very long process. To make sure it doesn't happen, I had to check the film every 30 seconds to make sure it stood on the right person. I only have 1 clean video with no glitches while the others are a complete mess. At least I have something to keep myself busy :/

Total bummer... I have to work 4-midnight today and tomorrow, so I won't be able to do any customs with you guys. I may or may not already be at work lol. Perhaps you guys can give my maps a go:D I'm done tinkering with Goldmine v1.5. It may need more work, but I wouldn't know what do with it.

Last night I was inspired to make a new map, mainly because I don't like how bland the stone pieces on Sandbox look. I went through all the maps that EazyB has kept updated. There are some really nice maps, but the mood in all of them is depressing. So I went back to Foundry and decided to do something different. Foundry has far fewer options and a tighter budget, but at least the pieces have a better feel in my opinion and I don't have to make my own boundaries (for the most part since the walls are already in place).

I went with a nonsymmetrical look, even though it's basically a horseshoe shaped map. Two bases at each end. It may be best for 1Flag and Assault games, which is what I originally had in mind, but I tried to make it 2Flag viable and it may end up being best for slayer.

I discovered(may not be anything new) that you can use the insides of the fence boxes, too, by having them appear after the start of a game and placing yourself inside the right spot with whatever item you're wanting to place there (teleporters being most obvious). I incorporated that into my map just for fun and want to experiment more with those boxes later.
Here are a few pics of Monkey Cage:

View from opposite end of both bases, with a small view of both sides. (note the open double box in the middle is not meant to be accessible, but it's all i had left to use. The open box below it, turned 90 degrees is accessible and one option for switching sides)

Anyway, I'm thinking this map may play better than Goldmine. I love all the extra levels in Goldmine, but they really don't serve any purpose. And I definitely prefer the look of metal to stone, and the extra random aesthetic pieces like the forklift, truck, signs, cones, and road blocks. I'll have to wait and hear other people's thoughts.

I'm in for customs tonight. In fact, I think I might just host them starting around 8 EST.

Time to go buy some 40s
classy, right?
to drink while playing tonight. Looking forward to it, should be lots of fun.

Nice. Who was it during customs yesterday that was going to drink from 7pm to 2am or something like that? Was that you? Apparently you survived:lol

Hahah yeah that was me. Somehow I managed to stay coherent the whole night.

ROFL. I have no tolerance and wouldn't be able to handle it.

Yesterday, everyone got to see how terrible I am at Halo3. I was getting so frustrated, but didn't want people to hear me whining, so I turned my mic off. I need to keep playing as much as I can to get my form back, if I ever had any. Seeing someone go +42 in one game made me wonder why I ever thought I could play Halo well.

That is one of the things I am kind of disappointed with. It would have been cool if they made a few "texture themes" that you could swap for each piece of geometry.

i like the way you think if i only didn't have work tomorrow morning i would be on my way to a gas station right now

Finally was able to play a bit on that Dikembe Mutombo map the other night. Have any of you guys done a full blown 8v8 on the map?

Edit: Also we got room for 1 more on a ghost run of Halo if anyone needs that achievement or want to have fun.

Yeah. I agree wholeheartedly. I wonder if it isn't something they might be able to implement in the future.

Forging is far more fun than I ever imagined it could be. I never touched it when Foundry came out. And I never dreamed that I would put more time into making a map than jumping into matchmaking. 2-3 of the most problematic things for me while forging:

1. I wish you could select an object and not have it zoom to you. I can't count how many times I just wanted to slightly adjust something already in place, only to have it ruined by the object flying out of place when I select it.

2. I wish you couldn't delete other items while holding a piece. There have been a number of times where I was simply trying to delete the item that I was holding and accidentally deleted something in the background.

3. Last, I wish that you could switch between an interlocking-mode where it knew you wanted a piece to line up perfectly with another piece. So that pieces would come together perfectly, almost like they had a magnetic attraction. That would save countless hours lol of forge time.

But I still love playing in forge. And I don't get motion sickness anymore from it, which is great.

Did you guys start yet? I want in!

I was doing Forge for pretty much the first time yesterday, and I thought the same exact thing about all of those points. I can't remember how many times I was building a second floor and accidentally deleted the floor underneath. Since I had walls, it was damn hard to shove the floor back into place.

One other thing I think would help is more control while manipulating. Being able to rotate 90deg perfectly with a button press would be awesome. Oh well, can't always have what I want.

Hi :D

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! I haven't been able to log on for a week now and am craving some H3 but have to head out to dinner. You guys play too early. Hopefully you guys are still on at 11PM PST.

Lol, it was alright. The guys are still playing right now, but I doubt they'll keep going for another 5hrs straight or something.

Ghaleon, your Entrenched map is good. Good enough for BTB, actually. Never felt over-crowded and was a blast. Sorry I headed out in the middle of our Neutral game, had stuff to do.

Sorry I wasn't able to get together with you guys. I was watching the final season of "The West Wing" and I lost track of time, and now I'm too tired to play.

Next week; if you guys could play Outskirts and give me some feedback, that'd be great, though.

Only eight more episodes to see as of this post. It's been a wonderful ride. Josh, CJ, Toby, Donna, Leo, Santos, Bartlet... Actors (respectfully): Bradley Whitford, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, Janel Moloney, John Spencer, Jimmy Smits, and Martin Sheen.

It's OK, none of us made fun of you while you weren't there.

Good games. It seems we need a few more custom BTB map variants if we're going to keep hosting such big games. Ghaleon's is great and Utah played pretty well. That said, I've been working on a BTB map, hopefully it'll be done by next weekend.

Nah, I thought Dikembe Mutombo was pretty bleh.

I did actually enjoy Ghaleon's map quite a bit more (though I still think there's too many power weapons) but I'd have to play a lot more matches on Utah before I write it off. Most of the time spent was just trying to figure the map and its spawns out.

Yeah it gets pretty crazy near the flag/bomb area. I'm not sure if it's a case of the vehicles or the weapons. Each side has one power drain, missile pod, machine gun turret, brute shot and rocket lawn chair (out in the center), and then the laser in the center on top. I think it's a pretty standard assortment, but the openness makes it easy to concentrate fire in one area. The vehicles are all set to 60 second respawns, except the warthog which is set to 90 seconds.

Right now I'm debating between making tweaks and just submitting what I have to Atlas and seeing what the feedback there is. If I change anything, I'll need three new films. Since we only play customs once a week, and I don't want to monopolize things, that adds a few weeks to the process. Hmmm.

Now that I think about it, I should probably swap in a Slayer game instead of the CTF from today. Partly because I accidentally left the flag reset time at 10 seconds, which not only hurt the game, but I need to show the map works with default settings. That, and I'd like to see how Slayer plays out on it, rather than two flags. If we can get that in next week, I think I'll submit.

Great times tonight. I'll gather up a few screens from each map later on and post some impressions of each. Dax's map played pretty well, Voc's was hilarious. I'll send the film over, Dax.

I think Utah Mambo needs some tweaking, but I love the broad strokes on it.

Curious: What's the general consensus on it? Too many vehicles? Horrible layout? Horrific stench? Too many textures? I only ask because I haven't played a single game on that map with any of you folks or talked about it.

I'm gonna hop in on the customs, my skills have deteriorated to dust in the wind however. :lol
Dude, you have no idea what deterioration is -- your "deterioration" is like my "best of" saved film reel. :lol

I didn't mean the map was hilarious - the game itself was. Of course, my stance on vehicles is the more the merrier. And there sure is more on it. :p

Most of us were still discovering the nooks and crannies - the teleporter up to the top where the laser was - but I thought it played quite well. It's hard to find a good balance with as many vehicles and heavy weapons, but the map pulls it off.

Also, I drove into a kill ball in the gauss hog and went boom. Sorry 'bout that, who ever my gunner was. :lol

I've played two games on it; I'll send you the films so you can see how it shakes down. I thought it was a hoot.

west wing shit i don't care about
we played outskirts and it actually played pretty well. i still think its a little open in a couple of areas but i think the core design is pretty good.

the general consensus is that it is good times
not to be confused with sad times
the amount of vehicles is what makes it so fun. shit blowing up everywhere and there was always a vehicle nearby to jump in.
the one thing i would change is the top it is easy to sit behind the teleporter and kill people as they walk through. i putting the teleporter right on the edge is a good way to fix it. also putting another teleporter on the other end (by laser) the putting laser in the middle would also help.
