Did Smashed go through Atlas approval? Because it's the biggest piece of shit map ever. The spawns are fucking terrible (I spawned behind someone or was spawned behind at least 8 times throughout the one match I played) and the fact that this garbage is in fucking ranked Team Slayer is proof that at least part of Bungie fucking sucks.

Ugh, anyone have any tips on how to deal with AR starts? I would like to get a 45, and Team Slayer seems to be the best option for me, but I either go -14 or allow the other team to achieve a perfection with AR starts.

in other words, Dax, gimme lessons

Atlas is a Bungie.net community group that allows Forge mapmakers to get their maps into matchmaking. http://www.bungie.net/Fanclub/atlas/Group/GroupHome.aspx

if you're in a long distance battle, spray that bitch like a BR...by the time you run in close you'll have weakened him sufficiently and will most like have ammo to finish the kill while he's reloading. I do that shit all the time. Also, have faith in the magnum, it's a good gun.

This place. Its where Shishka set up grounds for us to submit our maps to try to make it into matchmaking.

Edit: That was weird, the last few posts above me didn't even load that last time I checked. D:

Wow, that's funny. You are pretty much in the same situation as me. I gave up on Lone Wolves when I reached 44. I'm a 42 in Slayer now.

Contact Coconut for l33t AR lessons.

My online spell check dictates that Cocopjojo must be correctly adjusted to "Coconut."

Do these in order:

1.) Run to the nearest BR
2.) Run to the nearest *blank*

Replace *blank* with any weapon other than the AR.

Except for the fact that there are zero BRs on so many of the default maps: Guardian has one, Snowbound only a couple, Narrows only has a two on each side and a few in the middle. It's fucking terrible.

I wish Guardian had their single BR/Carbine slots to a faster timer. I mean, without those weapons or a Shotgun/Needler, you're basically forced to use the AR. I wish more SMG's were on the map since I find them more effective than AR at times.

As for Snowbound, I think, at least in ranked, there's six rifles (Carbines or BR) on the whole map. Two on the side perches entering the bases, one behind the snow rock behind left, and another behind the purple objects (?) at another base. That's really fine.

Can I get a comment on Flag return times, is it even being thought about reducing them?

Also, I liked the idea the other day about making regular playlists Double XP, I think it would do stuff like Team Objective a lot of good, as well as Squad Battle.
I absolutely agree, but seems the topic is like beating a dead horse. For no reason at all should CTF timers be the same in Avalanche and Narrows. They're two completely different styles of maps, and they need disparity.

For example, in my map Access, the timer should set same as Narrows, The Pit, Assembly, and smaller 1-CTF maps like Last Resort and High Ground. But, unfortunately, instead you got to stand for so long in the perimeter to get jaded by frags from the other team. Sounds like great fun.

I hate Guardian mostly because of the man-cannons.

Actually, I hate man-cannons in general. I'm pretty disappointed in the lack of Teleportals in Halo3 maps.

really? I love man cannons...I'm definitely not a big fan of guardian but I'm glad there aren't many teleporters. I was always so annoyed by them. They used to be big camping spots in Halo 2.

I would be cool with Bungie boosting the strength of the AR just slightly. As is, (more often than not) i can only get off just enough rounds before a person either gets behind a wall/object, or I have to reload. And I hate that feeling of chasing someone down knowing that you're unloading what seems to be a full clip into a person, only to watch them get away. Might be good to offset the close proximity power of the mauler, shotgun, hammer, sword, and at the same time, still leave the BR and Carbine as better medium range options.

Just for nostalgic purposes, do you guys remember the AR in Halo:CE? Basically, people would laugh at you for using it, but the funny thing is that it still worked. It felt powerful and could totally blind a person when up close, throwing their aim off. I was a pistol junkie, but I had a friend who was really good at pissing people off with the AR. He always got the same response: "you're a noob if you have to use that." He loved it. But I don't think he'd be happy with the current AR in Halo3. Let's see how many times I can say AR lol.

Well, that's the risk you take when you go through a portal.

With man-cannons, you give away your position instantly, you're susceptible to shots from all over the map, and you got the retards that whore the needler and fuck with everyone constantly.

Oh and not to the mention the retarded net-code with halo3 that basically fucks with the hit detection on man-cannons.

*edit*
yyess first post on new page BR > AR

Suggestion: review this Vidoc. Specifically from the 4:45 mark on.

In some circumstances teleporters are more useful but I almost always would rather have the cannons for men. They're harder (and more fun) to camp and you can take vehicles off them for optimal good times. With portals you kinda just role the luck dice to see if anyone is camping it and that's never fun.

Epic battles were had today:
Stuck with a terrible random and AR starts on Sandbox, I teach general about the wrath of the chopper.

Down by 5 for the majority of the match, we rally towards the end to destroy on Ghost Town Snipes.

K/D back up to 1.5 :D

This post is loaded with sexual innuendos, either this or I have a sick mind.

Don't forget the whole net-code sucking monkey nuts either. Shooting someone with a BR who is going through a man-cannon on Narrows its horrid.

It's funny. I'm going back through the vidocs based on the AR discussion (see above) and the man cannon vs. teleporter tradeoff is in vidoc #3 as well. We've regressed to talking about stuff Bungie dished on before the Halo 3 beta came out.

Also, from the Gamasutra NPD thread:

A couple of things that may be of interest:

That's $4 million right there. That's enough money to buy everyone the legendary maps, Bungie.

You think it's far fetched but they could more than certainly cut a deal, after all they are 'in it for the fans' amiright?

Look at it this way, Bungie allowing the Halo2 maps to be free 'paid' for them to be free by losing out on the potential profit. No matter how much you put 'lol' and :lol :lol :D :D :D faces you're the one looking stupid.

Once again, here I am dealing with inferior minds while doing school work.

Not only did Halo 3 sell 100k+ units last month, it passed 6million in the US. I say bungie buys everyone the legendary map packs now. :p

Since no one at Bungie wants to make the MM sandbox variants easily available I've taken the initiative of hunting them down. Here's what I've been able to find.
Vessel
Cubed
Plurality
Tundra
Tundra Swat

Please stop quoting KevinRo. At least, stop quoting his (many) exceptionally dumb posts. Defeats a certain otherwise handy feature of The NeoGAF.

Dude Bungie putting months of time and resources into a project and then paying Microsoft to make them free is probably the most ridiculous thing I have heard, please tell me the reason you are sticking to your guns on that idea is that you are trolling.

Edit: Fixed.

Bungie should pay Microsoft to fully acquire the whole Halo IP, they must be so rich, especially if their only ongoing costs are pizza delivery and Live subs.

So I sign on to Live, just sitting there, and a message pops up saying "TJ Thrasher wants to be your friend." At first I thought it was one of you assholes, but it's a legit account lol.

By the way, welcome to the club.

OK so here's the thing. That picture where the symbols on the back of the elites match the covenant language on Assembly. http://www.bungie.net/Online/Halo3UserContentDetails.aspx?h3fileid=73431807

The elites have a set of 3 letters (words?, numbers? Pretty sure they are letters) on their backside and its mirrored and then 4 on their left leg. I originally thought it was "Spec Ops" because the letters were reused and it almost makes sense but there's a little twist of one letter so maybe I'm just trying to see that. There is also what appears to be 3 Forerunner glyphs on the elites arm and mirrored on the other arm.

The Assembly columns or whatever all show the same pattern its a repeating 14 letter pattern. I wrote it down and will post the picture I took of it but anyone can really go see it.

I looked around for the covenant language translation but the one on halowiki seemed to not have ANY of the letters in the columns or maybe I didnt bend and stretch my imagination enough.

I hope it really means something and isnt just 14 random looking covenant signs. I was thinking Superintendent but I don't see any repeating letters which makes me even more confused cause what 14 letter word isn't going to have a repeating letter (none I think?) it fits so well since they are always hiding superintendent in things this time they didn't use a pic but rather a cryptic message. I think that would be mad cool.

There was some talk of man cannons on the previous page. While they're definitely all right, I prefer teleporters. I thought they were fantastic in Halo 1 (except for Chiron; the teleporters where place like doors into the very next room most of the time) and have been almost entirely ignored since then.

They're fantastic for making large and mid-size maps have specific areas within them that are more accessible and they introduce an interesting dynamic that man cannons cannot replicate. That's why I enjoyed Halo 1 maps so much. Battle Creek, Damnation, Rat Race, Derelict and Wizard wouldn't have been so replayable and amazing without them.

Mancannons are definitely better than teleporters because mancannons allow for that innate danger that accompanies traveling about the map.

Not to mention the fact that it's much more fun to fly through the air.
