I'd edit it sooner than later. Posting outside the submission format has gotten to be a big problem over there as Atlas's existence becomes mainstream. I'd hate to see you get temporarily banned from Atlas and the map not reach Shakira's eyes because of such a minor thing.

This would be funny if it made sense. Three maps maps that have been out multiple months as compared to a full fledged expansion with three 'new' maps that have yet to be released are not equivalent. Plus I listed this as an example of what Bungle could do. Ahh nothing like interactng with inferior minds during a class of signals and systems.
It's funny because it doesn't make sense. Just like Bungie paying MS any sum of money to distribute any sort of content to their fans is a crackpot idea that only the most naive and dimwitted minds would conjure.

That's the joke, dude.

it counts Forge 'games' as well - every time you float an object you add to the total game count

i have 15,263 games played and i am only a level 32 Major, Grade 4 (where is the roll-eyes smiley?)

Oh ok. Thanks. My service record while playing the game says I've played like 389 custom games, but on Bungie.net it says I've played 1259 custom games. That's a big difference and I don't think I've floated that many objects.

Your previous rants were unnecessary and bothersome and I don't expect much from you but this last post is interesting. Someone at Bungie definitely gave it some thought.

Personally, I'm all for a universal Matchmaking AR+BR start combo.

AR/BR start is one of those things that is so obviously right that it will probably never happen. I mean.... AR for close range and BR for far away. Whenever you spawn you're prepared for everything. How is this not in matchmaking? The mind boggles.

Oh goody lets argue AR/BR one more time!!!!

It goes without saying that I think the AR+BR starts should be the rule rather than the exception but the fact that players start out with both on Tsavo Highway doesn't mean Bungie thought the same at one point. Tsavo Highway is comparable to a BTB map with big open environments. In a level like the one where you take out a scarab for the first time (forgot the name), you don't start with a BR because the first part of the level consists of CQC ecounters. And then you have the fact that competitive multiplayer and SP/co-op campaigns are designed significantly differently. At the start of most missions and throughout a level there are warehouses full of different guns and the player can choose anything they fill will best suit the coming encounters and starting weapons become much less impactful.

In MP the starting weapons make a world of difference as do the weapons placed on the map; we all know this. It's obvious that many people at Bungie feel the game is more balanced with a gimped CQC weapon like the AR and are hardheaded enough to stick with AR starts despite it making the game shit. Hopefully with the influx of Bungie employees playing the game again they'll play enough games to realize this and make the necessary changes.

Here's a nice topic for discussion :D

In any of the Halo campaigns, what moments/battles do you remember the most? Not necessarily your favorite battle, but just one level or section that sticks out in your mind when you think "Halo" "Halo 2" or "Halo 3".

For me, when I think of Halo campaign, I think of that one part in Assault on the Control Room where you're in the tank with a bunch of hogs around you, and you go down that ramp on the right and then there's a turret up on a ledge, and a Covenant Carrier [forgot what they're called] drops off a buncha troops, and then down the icy-lane is two hunters and some active camo :D That encounter was super-memorable for me. Maybe it's because I used to watch my cousins play that level when they first got Halo. :D

The first Halo game, at the start, where you have to bunker down and survive a few waves of dropships sending wave after wave of troops into your position. Pure bliss. I've always enjoyed it co-op, I'd go on ahead and hide behind at hill distracting the enemies whilst my friend would stay in the main structure. We'd basically sandwich each wave. Then the glorious reward, the first warthog you ever drive.

Once you leave the Pillar of Autumn and enter Halo the first time... :D

Bladed,

Like others have said, do it asap, if you can. Many people go in there at random, it seems, and post garbage like "Here's my Map!", "Check my Fileshare!", "Map Name" to completely follow it up with a bad post reply. I don't blame Shishka or moderators (if any) there. If you don't abide by the rules at hand, especially when they're stickied and you're told to read before posting, they deserve banned/blacklisted for sixty days.

I need to finish my map first and hope my spawns are okay before I do any thinking of submission.

If they're "1 shot" you can kill them across Guardian with an AR.... :lol

Also, Assembly AR's is a monstrosity

I've since edited it, basically copying and pasting the guide Shishka stickied. Should be ok now. Thanks though

I signed in and checked it out.

Did you use your own settings for CTF (Mage) or Bungie's normal Multi-CTF setting? I could be wrong, but I believe he wants users to use the default settings at first, at least for the showings. Not sure what you used/tried, though.

We just played a game of Team Punchout on Guardian in Team Melee. For some reason, some kills were counting but others weren't. CuddleMuffinTBK, for example, got 13 kills but it only registered seven. The film is here: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=1089055724&player=Willeth

Has anyone experienced this before?
Only melee kills count (hence the gametype name). Kinda dumb, though.

I believe only melee kills count toward your score in that game type. If you look at everyone's tools of destruction, melee kills are in exact correlation to your score.

Edit: Beaten :D

Who made Excavation? Is is intentionally the easiest thing in the world to get on top of the map?

Can't recall off hand who made the Foundation remake, but I liked it. I didn't purposely ever try to get out of the map, but I may try that out.

What's the Relic "remake" and can you send a link to it? I'm curious.

I immediately think of the
MOTHERFUCKING
Library and the first time I played through it. It was pure hell. One time I was inching along and suddenly a flood battle(?) form comes around a corner from about 30ft away and launches a rocket at me. At this point I froze and was like, "OH SHIIII----" and was promptly killed. That whole scene, at the time, played out in what seemed like slow motion. I hope to relive that moment as I am just starting the Library in my Halo game that I downloaded off of XBLM. I'm scared shitless about playing it on Legendary so I'm going to do it on Heroic...for now. ONE day I will conquer that level on Legendary and it will be glorious. :D

Another moment of course, was the opening cutscene of The Maw. It's one of the most awe-inspiring, beautiful moments in gaming history IMO. The music, the camera panning over the lake and then around the barren, charred Autumn...it's a chilling reminder of just how alone you are, fighting off the Flood and Covenant by yourself. Watching that moment on Youtube still gives me shivers down my spine. Looking back, that really is what set Halo: CE apart from the rest; for the majority of the game you are by yourself, fending off first the Covenant and then the mysterious and unrelenting Flood. Levels like the Library, Two Betrayals, Keyes, etc have this aura of destitution and separation that is too eerie for comfort.

And of course in Halo 3, there's the whole deal with the Terminals. Thanks to voc and co. over at Ascendant Justice, I have an infinite amount of respect for the story writers at Bungie for the astounding job they did with the whole Forerunner backstory and how Mendicant Bias had been helping Chief for the entirety of Halo 3 (and parts of Halo 2, I believe) I just wish there was more!

Ahhh, I could talk about my campaign experiences with the Halo trilogy forever. :lol

Yeah, it's too bad he ran out of budget/items I really would've loved to see that in matchmaking. =(

COME ONE, COME ALL! WITNESS the most amazing feat attempted in Halo 3. WATCH as my assistant, The Gold Avengr, faces what appears to be certain death and survives to help me further along the course.

1043s4p.jpg

The full course.

i44mzl.jpg

The beginning. With the help of the mancannons, I, along with TGA, ride a mongoose over three killballs.

29oqzab.jpg

At which point, in the air over the killballs, TGA hops off to catch a teleporter inside the killballs. Certain death? Not with a bubble shield handy! But what about me?
I know you can't really see it in this picture, but there is a teleporter there.

20f9fma.jpg

I am still in the mongoose, flying over the killballs, onto a second set of manconnons, and then hurled to a separate platform.

2d9mpg.jpg

Here, I build up speed and TGA waits for me with his gravity hammer (arriving through an oh-so conveniently placed teleporter), ready to give me the forward force needed to cross...

2r40kjs.jpg

The Pit of Morbid Coils. Surviving this, I land in my final destination.

16igxl4.jpg

The face of Bob (version 2.0).

"You're crazy," they all said. "Such a feat can never be done." They said this day would never come.

What are they to say now?

Download the feat HERE and SEE for yourself the new and improved Epic Jump.

I had the best game I've ever played on Team SWAT today, I was a shaking wreck after we finished. At the start of the game my two team-mates dropped out leaving the game 2 on 4, and my wingman wasn't of much use either. We went from being over ten kills down to winning 50-49 and I had a staggering 37 kills (36 headshots :P), a personal best by a longshot. It was fucking amazing and re-proved to me that Halo can be the one of the most exciting games ever at times, it just has a sublime feel. It also proved to me that a 2 man team can totally fuck up a 4 man team in SWAT, that could almost be a fun gametype.

The worst part though, I didn't rank up for that performance. Still a lowly level 8. If anyone in the UK wants to hit me up (or if any of you nice people see me on the Halo GAF friend list) I'm totally down for getting back into this game with some fun players. The randoms are silent these days, and my friends all play CoD exclusively :(

On either side there's a BR, a sticky grenade, and a fusion coil. You just jump up on the little barrier, throw the sticky under the coil and jump and you're up on the wall. From there you can go round pretty much the whole map - or jump down into the sand and get stuck.

Relic is here.

Also Dax man that's fucking insane.

LOL... Dax, from the first pic it looks like BOB has a little wee-wee sticking out. Is that what you're trying to have your players land on? :lol :lol :lol

I'm so tempted to purchase the Mythic map pack and yet I don't know if I'll play them enough to justify the purchase. I haven't played multiplayer Halo 3 (besides Co-op) in ages.

But still...

Make it happen dude there are always the gaf customs if you are in need of people to play with.

Well, while there may be troubles with spawns or weapon time (didn't fiddle with that for every weapon laid out yet), I have finished the layout of my map, Access. Download if you like, and I would welcome any customs tomorrow evening if there's about eight people. Specifically built for BR starts, but just in case, there's four BR's on each side of the bases (three inside, one near outside). I made it suitable for Team Slayer, Team Slayer BRs, Multi-CTF, Multi-Bomb, and Neutral Bomb. I also made a map variant of Team Snipers for it, since the long scope and close encounters in the bases or around the teleporter area could be interesting. I only removed every weapon for that, and have done nothing else with it, so far. All I do for that, I suppose, is add a couple points of spawns for a Beam Rifle and maybe add another piece of equipment (Flare I think would be decent).

My equipment piece times are Grav Lift: 45 sec. and Bubble Shield: 90 secs. Didn't check out other maps first, so if they need to be higher, I'll update that.

I'll also check out that Relic map. On the Foundation remake, he could patch that up if that's a problem. The map looks great and there don't seem to be any big problems with weapons, grenades, or explosive barrels. Who knows about the spawns, amirite..

If you're unsure about how much time you'll give the maps, I'd suggest holding off for now. Right now (and for the foreseeable future) there is only one DLC playlist so the integration is pretty minimal.

I'd hold off and see how they incorporate the other 6 map variants and other community maps. Hopefully there will be a set of playlists so great and full of unique Sandbox content that no one will have to persuade you to download them. Until then, don't feel like you have to rush into a decision.

Tinman, I've had the same problems every so often. Even on Firefox. My way to end the loop was to click on the Live info page away from Bnet and then click on the Logon link on the top right from the Live page. Once you're logged back in, you can fire up BNet again.

And mad props to Urk posting a public apology like that for the creator of Utah Mambo. Definitely was not needed but was classy to do so.

I didn't notice there was some changes to Utah Mambo.. this has to be tried out on Saturday.

It looks like the hornet is gone.. I was wondering how the hornet would work well on the map, guess it didn't.

Windows Live ID (Passport) and safari (webkit) do not like each other.

And there are ways that your login cookies can get corrupted that cause loops. I've tried to fix most of those, but as you might imagine, they are hard to reproduce. Any time that happens, either clear your cookies (live.com and bungie.net), or go to xbox.com and sign in then sign out. That should get you a proper copy of the cookies. You can also just close the browser if you haven't set "save password"... which you should never, ever do.

I approve of the epic longpost tangent we're going down. *munches some raisin toast and cracks fingers*

Halo (H1) - The first step onto the ringworld was very cool. Multipath design and large scale combined to make this level very memorable.

Truth and Reconciliation (H1) - The opening sections were the best part of the level, with great visuals and music. The sections onboard the ship were fun too, if not a bit repetitive.

Metropolis (H2) - I always liked the bridge encounter in this level, and the vehicle combat is good too. Taking down the Scarab is fun as well, if not outdated now ;)

The Arbiter (H2) - [cloak][stab] Rinse... repeat. Good stuff!

Delta Halo (H2) - The architecture was always very cool, in a space-Aztec kind of sense, and I like the encounters and vehicle combat.

Quarantine Zone (H2) - One of the better flood levels we've seen, thanks in large part to the vehicle and open terrain elements.

The Great Journey (H2) - I like the large scale and Banshee combat, but I gotta say the boss battle being the final act is kind of... off.

Silent Cartographer (H1) - It was one of the best levels of the game hands-down. Great opening (the beach battle insertion), very little repetition, and a good multipath design that nudges the player forward and still provides a large and diverse battlefield.

Assault on the Control Room (H1) - Very large level with some very nice vehicle segments. Repeating rooms and bridges brings it down somewhat.

343 Guilty Spark (H1) - It's the best (and also the first) Flood level in any of the games. The Library took the concept and ran it into the ground. Halo 2 and 3 did much better (Cortana is so much better designed in every single way than that starturd that is The Library). A slow reveal of the Flood is something I missed in the following games. Yea, we know they exist and all that, but I would have preferred to see a more suspenseful introduction in Halo 2 and 3.

Sierra 117 (H3) - Very beautiful level with a lot of fun battles. The dam segment is easily my favourite part of the level, the multiple approaches and the battles with the Chieftain and the reinforcements are always good.

Tsavo Highway (H3) - Warthog and Chopper driving sections are always fun, and this level has a series of good encounters and setpieces.

The Storm (H3) - Debut of the new Scarab, and a nice mesh of indoor and outdoor combat. If The Library's interiors were designed nearly as well as The Storm's interiors, I wouldn't hate it nearly as much.

Floodgate (H3) - Probably one of the strongest Flood levels in the series. The level is gorgeous, with a lot of interesting arenas and the debut of the ever-lovable Flood Pure Form.

The Ark (H3) - I love the scale involved in this mission. Large vehicle battles mesh with infantry combat very nicely, and the player gets to use so many different vehicles over the course of the mission.

The Covenant (H3) - I love this mission for the same reasons as the last, huge scale and a lot of awesome vehicle battles. 2Scarabs1Spartan is also a kickass encounter.

"Quarantine Zone" had the potential to be the best Flood level in the trilogy, but the homing rockets really created some frustration. The vehicle Flood vehicle sequences were grand when the rockets weren't in play.
