MLG fail: Power went out at the venue.

here's from the live feed:
Well, here's a quck update from the event floor: The power just flashed off momentarily in the entire venue (and we had reports that the Hyatt hotel's power went off too.

This means a couple of things: 1) The power failure was probably from a source outside the venue. 2) All of the games that were currently in progress are going to have to be restarted. Keep in mind that completed games will still count.

And as a bonus, get this piece of interesting news: There is a field across the street from the venue that is currently completely on fire. Fire crews are in the area trying to surpress it, but it's a pretty massive fire.

There is no immediate danger to the venue or any of the people at the event, but we are getting reports that the reason the power went out was that the fire destroyed one of the power transormers in the area.

Although I think AR+BR starts sort of defeats the point, since BR>AR in 70%+ of situations.
 
Thx, I don't know what point it defeats but thats just how I would like to see Halo 3 gameplay work. The BR obviously would usually be the ToD for everyone but the AR would be like a secondary weapon used in the right scenarios in game.

Also a note: None of this Crazy King Hill shit. Traditional Hill like in MLG where you know where its going and it switches every 2 minutes. Anything with the words "Crazy" in it belongs in a social playlist.

I would agree with this also. It seems like I hardly ever play hill so I don't think I would mind seeing it bumped up to 15%.

Edit: Also what is the trick to getting the MLG stream to work?

the fire means nothing. if you've been to the meadowlands expo center you'll see it's surrounded by hotels and buildings. across the street literally means like a 20 minute walk.

For those that need a refresh,
"I was invited to play the new maps (minus Sandbox) at Bungie HQ along with some of the biggest community people in Halo (Louis Wu, Cocopjojo, Voc, etc). So I thought to give you a small, small heads up, I would help you out with a little bit of information.

Okay, so here we go:

Assembly: small to mid-size map. Bowl shaped covenant scarab factory - you've seen it.

Heretic: Midship remake. The ONLY - and literally ONLY - difference any of us could find (we tested all the jumps) was that jump pad on top, where you can jump up and get the sword, it was bouncy whenever you jumped or threw grenades on it in H2. It wasn't bouncy in Heretic. Everything else was faithful. Programmed into the map is BR/plasma nade starts. The sky box when you look out the windows is AMAZING - it is a view of quite a few Covenant carriers and ships coming into possibly our Solar system, and you are looking out from the belly of another ship. There is one that is really close to you and you can see amazing detail on the ship. There is a planet nearby too.

Orbital: I played 8v8 on this map, and it was WAY too many people. But it was a lot of corridor shooting. I never got a chance to explore this map (this was the only game I played on this map). It was obvious it was some sort of orbiting platform around earth - most likely a MAC cannon. There were quite a few computer screens on top of every entryway. Very neat.

Longshore: Wow. Easily my favorite map of all of them. This is a BTB map, and it is along the docks of OLD Mombasa (confirmed by Lars). There are even little maroon dinghies with small engines at a part of the map (I poked fun and said "I guess they never changed the design of small boat engines in 500 years, the employees got a laugh out of that). When you look out to the water, you see 2 LARGE carrier ships off in the distance, with pelicans and longswords and a couple other planes of some sort. It is AMAZING. There is a 2 story building on one side (base 1) with the roof also being accessible, and another 2 two-story buildings on the other side (Base 2). A center structure (kind of like a warehouse/boat storage facility) separates the two bases, and there is up at the WAY top of this structure an extendable bridge that drops on the roof of base 1. Lots of other buildings/crates/places to hide. One side of the map is all ocean, the other side is blocked by a large building that is part of the boat warehouse middle structure. This fish picture/drawing that was being handed out at PAX was a billboard on this map.

Citadel: I played this map with Lars. This map was LARGELY inspired by the level "The Covenant" when you were inside of the Forerunner structures, right after the battle with the Hunters who were below the elevator platform. When you have to go around and up an angled jump to battle a few brutes and buggers to get to the platform, that part is almost exactly in the map! It was really cool and was a good close quarters map. Two overshields spawn, and there is a central location with a small structure in the middle with Rockets on top. There are a lot of things hidden in here, very cool map.

And Sandbox they didn't let us play (none of us have any idea why?) and said nothing about it either.

what. they get invited to bungie to play the new maps. nda or no nda i'd be on multiple accounts spamming the interwebs of the second coming of MIDSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Citadel based on the Forerunner structures found in "The Covenant?" Do want. Also, if the skybox he describes is accurate and true, can't wait to get a look at that.

Pistola is awesome, he was all like the greatest H2 FFA player and everyone questioned his skills as a team player, but hes improved and now hes kicking ass.

I don't understand the fascination of being a halo fan and watching people on vod. The only reason I watch videos are to see the teamwork/strategies being set during the games. Other than that I really don't follow MLG or what happens. I'd rather be playing the damn game then watching it.

When I would practice/compete in a tournament or at local 2v2's sometimes my team would play someone who was a pro or who was good. I honestly would ask my teammate who is this person/team and if they are good or not rofl Like I honestly had no idea I beat Bonfire and Mack in the same game at a H2 EGL FFA tournament. swear.
 
So now that I'm taking a break from the game I was playing, I started thinking... If 'Williams' is correct, Midship is the only remake we're going to receive with the second half of the Mythic Map Pack. (I thought Citadel and Longshore were going to be remakes as well.) That's disappointing IMO. The current map designers' work is hit or miss and I rather see more remakes that are guaranteed to be solid maps than see new stuff.

I feel that Orbital, Assembly, Standoff, The Pit and a couple others are great maps but I really don't want another Narrows or Isolation. Seeing as how Halo 3 recycles a lot of old Halo CE material (environments, music, weapons) I've always been hopeful for more solid remakes of my favorite Halo Ce and Halo 2 maps.

Foundry and Sandbox variants don't cut it for me. And I suppose Halo 3 won't be getting any new maps after Halo 3: ODST ships.

We did a panel with Greg Bear at Emerald City Comicon this morning. Many bewbz were signed. Bungie guys are still there at Artist's Alley, signing bewbs and showing off leet arts.
 
I always tell myself "what if Halo 3's shipped maps were all the DLC [including Heretic, Longshore and Citadel] and then Halo 3's DLC post-launch consisted of Halo 3's current shipped maps?"

Makes me appreciate the Heroic, Legendary, Cold Storage and Mythic Map Pack SO MUCH more.

I actually started doing some serious reading yesterday hoping to make it a hobby of mine. Hopefully if that's successful, I'll look forward to this new trilogy of novels
even though I still believe that we should be able to play these events told in the novels in a Halo game.
 
OK update for the weekend for Air Stream 0.2 after reviewing feedback and spawn points.

- Added a little cover inside the base that doubles as a way to jump out of the base without grenade jumping
- Fixed Red Team spawn points inside the base (was missing 2 compared to blue teams)
- Added additional bumpers near the sniper ramp and back areas of the bases
- Fixed rear base spawn points for all gametypes to accomodate new teleporter areas
- Redid teleporter area to save $ to make fixes noted above.

The more I dwell on it the more I want Coagulation/Blood Gulch in Halo 3.

Nope..

# Team BRs (23.4%) - 50 kills to win. Battle Rifle spawns with Assault Rifle secondary weapon. Map traits: Light vehicles only. 12 minute match time limit.
 
Citadel and Longshore sound great.

Midship remake with the one possible jump from base to middle pad? Ehhh... I never cared for Midship on Halo 2 until they put SMG starts on it. Then there it became more enjoyable (ability to dual wield instantly with SMG/PR and other weapons like Battle Rifle, Carbine, Sword, and Shotgun), but unless things changed from Multi-Flag (the long wait for it to respawn back to base), I doubt it would be the same.

The PR starts made me despise the map when Halo 2 first launched, but once BR starts and MLG came to rise, omg I couldn't stop playing it.

I think I finally have a finished version of Ber Ber Creek completed. I know most people have played it but I've yet to post any pics of it so those who don't have the Mythic maps can see. I even tried to capture screen mirroring the reference screens I took before beginning Ber Ber.

I made two version of the map. The first, Ber Ber Creek, is the matchmaking version which should be impossible to break out of. The second once, Ber Ber Custom, is, like the name implies, a variant that is suited for customs. I deleted the objects I was using to make the map unbreakable and used the extra budget to add the red/blue light orbs. Unlike my previous version with the lights, this variant maintains all the weapons so this is probably the ideal version of the map to play.

I want to thank Nokyard for helping me a bunch with making the unbreakable and other incredibly beneficial tweaks. Also want to thank everyone that's played the map here on GAF, especially on the earlier versions.

Digging the Beaver Creek remake EazyB, Its looking good so far. I especially like that you managed to add the basements, that had to be tricky.
 
It didn't take long for the MLG nuts to start hating on Heretic. Oh noz!!1 Teh texchures!!!

The bright side? Someone who playtested it said that Bungie programmed in sticky nade starts. And how often did you see frags thrown on Middy back in Halo 2, when it was plasma nade starts? And how much do textures affect stickies?
