Question for HaloGAF:

What are your thoughts on Victory Laps in CTF games? (yay or nay)
As one of the forefathers of the Victory Lap, my personal opinion has shifted to this: if the other team has been goofing off, and the game has a tone of non-seriousness, then go for it. Or if they've been jerks and talked smack, but ended up sucking, then it's okay then, too. But in games where the other team was genuinely trying, but they just weren't good enough, then just cap it and let them move on.

There is also (as Ghaleon mentioned) the Reverse Victory Lap, which is when you have an insurmountable lead in a round-based game. In this case, you can communicate with the other team by crouching up and down when you come into contact with them - once they've recognized that you're not going to kill them, you give them a full escort into your base to plant the bomb or grab the flag or whatever the case may be. It works best when you're actually driving a vehicle with their team in it.

People actually do laps?

I've had my team chill back just holding the flag about to score when I was on a major spree so that I could fight until I die but I've never actually done a lap around the area. That's a bit too much.

Yeah, I can't say that I have done laps either.

Question: Does that apply when you've gone into a full blown rage?

Are those guys Halo famous? I don't recognize the names.

which guys? I don't think anyone there is Halo famous.

Also Bladed, Mage looks unbelievable. I can't wait to get the Mythic maps to have some kick ass games on it. It looks very clean and the sight lines all look good. Great Job. Work on those spawns, maybe you should play some H2 to get a better idea of what they should be.

Queued up your map Havok, looks great :D

As promised, a look at my attempt at a Warlock remake: Mage.

No High quality version yet though, stupid Youtube.

Also its not in my Fileshare yet as the spawns are squiffy :/
Holy shit. *bows*

O the way you said "we got matched up with....." made me think it would be someone cool like Steve Guttenberg or something.

I read on GAF that if you have complaints with the controls it means you suck.

the aiming is not that bad when you get use to it.

Nah, I just didn't want to say that we got matched with some randoms. I can't stand it when people say that.

Bladed, I think part of the problem with CTF spawns on Mage is that your respawn areas are too small. There aren't enough places to spawn safely within those areas, so emergency spawning can put you elsewhere on the map.

I'd suggest flipping them round and making them bigger, dividing the map in two diagonally through the camo. Also add more spawns if you have the spare budget.

Oh and jumping ontop of a Banshee with a full Snipe on Coag is sex.

Try jumping on a Hornet that has your flag carrior with a fully loaded Sniper on Avalanche whenever you have a chance. Forcing to no scope on a Hornet is quite the task. :lol

OK so at least you guys are on the same page as me then. In the lobby if we end up with a bunch of shit talking racist kids, victory laps when possible is great. Last night we had a dude and his team throwing the N word at us so we decided to do some victory laps after capping the flags quickly and repeatedly killed and teabagged the guys until we forced them to quit.

I did feel a little bit of remorse during said laps since I knew there were other people on the opposing team that weren't part of the racist party. Was reminded of Ghals stories from before. But remorse was overcome with the overwhelming urge to achieve a flag beatdown while riding brokeback on a mongoose. :D

But I think we took it a little too far last night and victory lapped a team later that night that was just genuinely not up to par skill wise which has brought on this sense of guilt in me. :(

These specifically.

Back in the day, if we got folks like that on Sandtrap, we'd run both Elephants and a caravan of Warthogs and Mongooses in tow, with the winning flag waving at the front of the lead Elephant -- lap after lap, until they either quit or just stood on the artifact, questioning why they turned their Xbox on that particular evening. We had to run the Elephants, you see, because they'd block our path around the map otherwise. We couldn't have that, even if it was a matter of victory lapping at a whopping 20mph.

Dude, the aiming system is absolutely HORRIBLE. I do not care what anyone says or does or fools themselves with, it is god awful and then some. It absolutely does not get better.

And I'm sorry to go off topic and vent, but I know if I post this in the KZ2 thread, those morons will just say if you want to play Halo or COD, go play them. But I don't! I want to play Killzone with some decent controls!

The game does a lot of stuff right but it is all over shadowed by the poor aiming mechanics imo.

Eh, I'm just not a fan of the "sticky/accelerated" movement. If it was steady, it'd be like CoD, which, while I'm not particularly good at, I could understand. When I have to lean down hard to move over the first few inches, but then suddenly shift way past my target....well, it's not perfect.

can you really blame them? they're desperate for something to call their own. i bought a ps3 at launch and don't own a game for it.

These young men and women will never know the ownage of a 4-shot, the rap3 of a no-scope or the beauty of someone screaming "get shit on" at you. I will pray to our Lord that they may someday play Halo Three.

Well that didn't take long.:lol I'm still giving it a chance by playing campaign, but the more I play it, the more I dislike the controls. There's no chance I'll be able to play MP with the way PSN randomly signs me out all the time.

Phatcorns speaks the truth. I don't want to click the left stick to zoom, because that's just clumsy, so I'm forced to use the control scheme that has zoom mapped to L1. Problem is, the cover button is still mapped to L2...see where I'm going with this?

Any spoilers from Halo Wars in there? I want to watch the videos, but if they're spoilers, I'll want until I'm finished with Halo Wars.

When I first saw the Extermination achievement, I thought the only way I would be able to get it would be in a game of Griffball.

I'm glad I was wrong.:D It may have been sheer luck, but I was so surprised/excited when I saw the picture for extermination pop up on my screen.

Aww, stop it, you're totally selling yourself short. Your CoD skills are amazingly terrible to the point of retardation. Not many can achieve something like that.

And you kids better still be playing KZ2 when I get it Wednesday.

And I think I've fired more shotgun shells in this one round of the Library thus far than I have in all of Halo 2 and 3's campaigns combined.

Thanks for the tip! I've moved some bits around and made the bases smaller so once I upgrade the spawns I'll re-uplaod to the Fileshare.

God I loved CTF Warlock. It was the ultimate I know what you're going to do, you know what I'm going to do, lets see who can impose their will on the other map. Nothing like setting up and forcing the other team to spawn where you want them to. Then pulling the flag and knowing exactly where they're going to spawn only have them to stop you from scoring. Ahh :'( good memories.

btw Warlock slayer was homo.

*edit*
