Eazy, do you have any insight on this? It's been happening to me, too, except the opposite - all of my spawns are in the Sky Bubble, but I spawn on the ground 50% of the time.
Clear evidence of treachery long hidden.

So what, you're not using my variant. As vhive said, the only ones I left on the bottom were for like VIP and Territories -- and there are only like three or four spawns total in those gametypes. Most are in flag/assault/koth gametypes.

:lol

Treachery is Coco's middle name. Actually it's Perceval but you get the point.

Is there a reason why the Grav Lift and Power Drain both sit on the 'floor' of the Sky Bubble on Sandbox?

They are the only 2 pieces of equipment that do. Really odd.

Turf is basically ready to roll out. But I need to take some pictures before its unveiling. Maybe add an Assault gametype.

Expect the map and pics around 3pm CST today.

Just a quick question.

Do any of you know what's going on with user generated content? Is there going to be a new system for that instead of Bungie Favorites? Ways to get new levels instead of a limited fashion?

Also I think Bungie should have a classic maps hopper after Mythic comes out from Forged Sandbox.

I think it is pretty much just Bungie Favorites. You could always check out forge hub if you are looking for some more quality maps.

I am not sure about classic maps necessarily but shishka said that there would be a lot more sandbox love in matchmaking than foundry ever had which is excellent news.

What? You didn't already put in assault? That was one of the better gametypes for Turf. Yes, I'm biased towards skirmish games.

Before I start reading and potentially spoiling some of the Halo novels, is this page the most comprehensive Halo timeline I can read?

http://halostory.bungie.org/halostory.timeline.html

LW: Any ETA as to when the Halo Wars info will get appended?
I'm JUST NOW catching up on GAF; I haven't had a chance to read this forum since before we left for Florida last Friday. Apologies for the delay.

Halo Wars info will likely NOT get appended; the folks who manage that timeline don't really consider that information to be canon. You're welcome to argue the point with them... but both views have validity, and I'm not going to override their decision. :)

(Someone might change their mind at some point - maybe even by labeling the content as slightly suspect or something. I'd guess it'll be a while before that happens, though... it'll take someone playing all the way through the game, then finding the time to pull out the salient datapoints, and most of us don't even live in a country where the game's been released yet.)

Okay, back to reading - I"m only 10 pages from the end now!

Louis, do you select the winners of your contest today or tomorrow morning?

No, all round equipment floats, as does the trip mine and the deployable cover. It really is odd and should be fixed.

Judging will be based on how well you move Domino. We can't tell you what he's looking for - write something cool, and hope it catches his eye! What you send is up to you. Just like it's up to Domino (and his buddies) whether you win or not.

I hope HaloGaf will hear of some of the more hilarious of submissions..

Too bad they can't do the same thing for an oddball or flag, would make for some really weird strategies.

How does posting on GAF make anybody more deserving? Not saying the people who got them don't deserve it, but this is just one community out of alot. I don't know who else all got the maps, but I didn't really see alot of people on other forums getting free codes, aside from contests.
Bungie gave blocks of codes to various communities. It was totally up to those communities how they distributed them. Contests certainly give people who would never have a chance if all codes went to friends of admins a foot in the door, no?

We took some of our codes, distributed them to staff. We took some more codes, distributed them to friends. We took the rest of our codes, gave them away in contests. If 25,000 people wanted the codes, and Bungie gave us 25 codes to distribute... how many people did we disappoint?

It's the same for EVERY OTHER HALO COMMUNITY ON THE NET.

GAFers got a lot of codes - because GAF is a favorite hangout of a bunch of Bungie employees, and on top of whatever 'community love' block they got, some employees gave up a couple of their OWN codes to their friends here. That doesn't mean that everyone here deserves a code, or that those who got codes deserved them more than those who didn't.

All this bitching here... it's worse than at B.net, almost. :(

I'm also wondering how tired people will be of them in 5 weeks, but who knows.
I'm not tired of Valhalla, and I first played that in May 2007.

I'll probably pick them tonight, after entries close... but they won't be posted before morning.

w00tw00tw00t - CAUGHT UP! Damn, that was a lot of posts.

Unless your Metroid in which case I fully condone such risks.

I'm thinking about publishing the thread. Putting it in a fine leather bound book for the masses to read.

Here, here.

As an addendum, don't let Thermite get rockets. :P

Believe it or not, there are several thousand downloads of the Legendary Map Pack EVERY DAY on Xbox LIVE - even now, close to a year after the initial release.

That's crazy, I would have never guessed several thousand a day.

Sorry. It happens. I should be on a decent amount this weekend.

1 Flag on High Ground is so awesome. It brings back memories of the beta and a stronger carbine. I really wish there was a way to give team skirmish a population boost.

There needs to be (changes).

Got it cheaper than anywhere else that I saw - gonna play some Gears 2 first, then I might hop on to Halo 3 later tonight for some Mythic Map pack action...

Online, the cheapest is £42.99 from ShopTo, and they ship next day recorded for free.

High street is £45-50 if my info from yesterday is right :P

Hmmm.... So these guys view the Halo Wars story arc as possibly tainted.

Voc/Cocop do you guys have the same stance on Halo Wars and it's connections with the Halo universe? (I guess being able to play it and watch the cutscenes may help you guys formulate an answer though so I'll wait until next week for impressions :D)
I think my IMac might be on the fritz! =( I try to boot it up, and it just keeps on restarting itself, it doesn't even go to the desktop.
I can't speak for Wu or his team, but his site is halo.bungie.org, not halo.org; they are first and foremost a group of Bungie fans. They've been doing news and such regarding Halo Wars, but I think the site as a whole is more focused on Bungie, and as such the Halo material that Bungie generates. Though I'm not sure how that does or does not extend to say, the latest book (which I still haven't gotten around to reading).
