Assembly's spawns leave something to be desired, to say the least. I was walking up a ramp towards one of the main top-level areas (don't know what to call them... there's one on each side of the map, and it has a grav. lift and four ramps going up to it, and plasma rifles/brute spikers inside) and two guys spawned right where I was aiming. I just squeezed the trigger and got a double kill (it was SWAT.) :lol
Now, if you'd like to believe that I'm choosing to be rational because I got a code, that's fine, but you should know that I've been on the outside looking in before, and have not made myself look silly be making stupid arguments for "fairness" like the ones you are making now.
If believing that Bungie owes it to everyone who posts in a thread on a message board to give them a map pack for free is an "objective viewpoint," then I want to stay the hell away from it.
Also, I'm fascinated to be watching Striker is a Complete Hypocrite Episode XVII:
Once upon a time, when the majority of the Halo 3 Thread was in an uproar about MS attatching the Halo 3 map pack to the $80 Halo Wars Special Edition, Striker bravely stood up for poor 'ol Microsoft, stating that it wasn't fair to criticize MS for making a smart business move.
Yet, when Bungie is forced to make one of the following business moves with their limited number of map pack codes:
A. Give the map pack codes to those who are friends of Bungie and generally positive about the game, and will likely create positive buzz about the maps
B. Give the map pack codes to people who will likely complain about the maps and demand that the makers be fired
C. A combination of A and B
D. Sit on the map pack codes until they can give every single member of the "community" a free ride, even though it will likely be impossible to obtain that many codes
Striker believes that Bungie has a moral obligation to go with option D. "Smart business choices," eh? :lol

Some of the shit going on in here is just sad. Technically, it's not "fair" that Bungie gives codes to their friends. But, such is life. Friends of important people will get benefits of that friendship. It's not like there's a long wait to get the maps. At the very latest, there's a four day wait. That's not that bad. Seems rather stupid to continue arguing and complaining over how someone got the maps early. Surely, there are better things to do.
Though, I do enjoy the irony of some how those who said Bungie shouldn't release the Mythic maps playlist until they're on the marketplace are now playing the playlist and talking about how great they are.

I have never left this thread. I simply do not post much because that is how I am. I don't say a lot in general unless I have something worthwhile to contribute. I have been around since before the Beta thread.

I haven't been around long either, so that my be a reason why I never got a code, doesn't bother me at all though, I'll get them when I get them. For now, I'll enjoy the pictures of the maps you guys are making.
I'm a poor college student too, so I know what you're going through. I don't look at it as spending $80 for the maps like some people. I look at it as spending $70 for the Collector's Edition of a game that I've really looked forward to and $10 for the maps. But it still comes out to $80, so I know what you mean.KevinRo said:

So has anyone actually been able to get the new maps yet? I have my Halo Wars LE code here, but it won't let me download them
It's 2:47am here, so technically it is Friday for me, but I can't seem to find any details on whether I can only use my code at a specific time or something...

I don't see why it wouldn't work. All the people that have them here downloaded it through a code. Unless, that is, you bought a Euro version and they're like region locked or something :/

From a gamer's perspective, this whole thing was stupid. But from Microsoft's perspective, it was a fairly smart idea. It all will depend on how well Halo Wars is received. But we may never know how much the map pack had to do with that anyway. I know I was planning on buying the Collector's Edition of Halo Wars whether it had the maps or not. I'm a sucker for Microsoft first party collector's editions.

Not entirely sure what all hate is for in this thread. Bungie gave out codes to people they liked and have played with on XBL/met in person. It makes comeplete sense. If you had a box of cookies (and you intended to share those cookies and eat them yourself), you would give them to your friends before you gave them to that guy you mey at a bar 2 or 3 years ago. I mean, honestly, would you not do the exact same thing had you the choice?
I have been following this thread for over a year now, but was only aproved recently after a ridiculous wait. I am still a junior member, so I was not expecting to receive a code (whether I was a junior or not, I don't play with any Bungie folks at all). I've played with Dan Miller maybe twice in my experience with Halo, the guys that got the maps play with Bungie fellows on a nightly basis.
So for those complaining about it not being fair, then move to Russia. Grow a pair and move on, life isn't fair. Might as well accept it at one point or another.
As for me, I now have the descision of Halo Wars LE or not. I am buying Halo Wars, but MS's milking-of-the-system has angered me. I don't want to support the exploitatoin of a community.
