MS is a pretty awesome dude, I bet he wanted Bungie to give out the Mythic maps 6 months ago but Mr. Bungie was like, "Hell no, I'mma sit on these until your next published game comes out and force you to bundle it exclusively with it". At this point my homeboy, MS, begged and pleaded for Bungie to give the maps out for free to as many people as they wanted but Bungie decided that he'd rather collect all the cash they'll be making from the Halo Wars LE and just give out an artificially low number of codes to act like the good guys.

Some day MS will have a say on how Bungie's content is delivered, and that will be one glorious day.

Creating an octagon down in the crypt wouln't bee too hard, just use the "Wedge, Large" pieces in each corner along with some blocks and you'll get yourself a pretty good octagon without any geomerging.

As far as making a remake of my own, I think I'll wait till some Forgehub or MLG forgers have at Sandbox for a while and fill in the gaps if I think it's necessary.

I'd love to hear your ideas for handing out codes to "more deserved" people. Handing them out randomly to people with 10k+ games would be foolish, a whole bunch of those people are jerks, there's something to be said about the fact that we've only ran into 2-3 assholes during matchmaking. The population Bungie gave codes to seem to all good people, no corpse humping, MLG tards, little kids, TKers, etc.

I know it probably won't get addressed, it hasn't in any of the other flag types that I know of, but the return time is WAY too long on Sandbox. I haven't gotten to play MM flag on Assembly, but it should be 3 or 5 max, and 5 is good for Sandbox too with the way the spawns work.

It's easy to think that GAF got the majority of the codes as we spend most of our Halo community time here but there are a lot of people and communities outside of GAF that got the codes. I've seen a ton of TTL, Forgehub, and BSG folks playing. I've also bumped into a number of HBO people. Some sites decided to give some/all of their codes through contests and may've sent the remaining codes to select people in that community.

As far as map variants finding their way into matchmaking. I think Sandbox will be a different story. We've already seen TTL Askan's map "Tundra" make an appearance and Shiska's set up a really cool group called Atlas on B.net which has the potential of bringing some great maps to light. You seem to know a lot of decent forgers so make sure they know about this group and covince them to participate in it, it's the best chance they've got to see their map get into MM and the best chance we have of getting a nice varied selection of solid community variants.



Anyways, we should get a list going of GAFers and their maps. If you have a map and I forgot to include it (only went off of people I thought had maps on my FL) just post a link to it if you want me to include it on the list. I think it's perfectly fine to have "Beta" versions up as well. Also, any usefull starting maps (canvas-like maps) would be awesome as well. Once the forging community has had some time with the maps maybe we can get a list of great remakes from as well.
