Bullfrog and I played them. I also encountered Sai kun on his own and the vhfive/Revengeance duo. Great games! I just love this small playlist population. I've only encountered one douche mouthing off but aside from him everyone's been so great.

Yay I got my Mythic Killtacular on SWAT Tundra, should've easily been a Killtrocity though. Maybe even beyond. I just couldn't pull off a headshot after the reload in time.
I'm happy, yet sad that the population is going up. No longer will I be getting matched up with people I know. Everyone was friendly in my matches, with the exception of some generals who kept bitching when they got killed my EazyB's chopper. :lol
That Greenskull was... enthusiastic :lol And I didn't ditch you guys intentionally - 5 and I were playing splitscreen, and when he bailed, it kicked me from the party.

The Bungie employee I played with (Bothari?) had this to say: "Behind you! Behind you! Oh. You're bad."
I'd like to take a moment to say that the respawns on orbital are meh at best. I kept getting killed from people spawning not far away from me behind my back.
also the rocket respawns on sandbox are really short. Not sure if I like it, or if its okay yet, because there is a lot of vehicle/spawn camp abuse

Yeah, between the constantly spawning rockets, power drainers, brute shots, missile pods, and 8-10 plasma grenades it's hard to get anything awesome going with the chopper. I've had a couple good runs but all incredible abundance of anti-vehicle stuff is a major killjoy.

As an AR aficionado I figured you would know all about the camp.
I know Sandbox looks slightly different from Sandtrap, but it still looks like they rehashed a map art assets. I play a lot of BTB and while I enjoy Sandtrap many people seem to hate it. People are so sick of it. I hear people bitch about it all the time. Whose idea was it to reuse stuff from the previous map?

The lighting is worlds better and the geometry, while some pieces based on parts of Sandtrap, is all new. I think the map looks awesome then again I really enjoy Sandtrap so what do I know.

Happened to me tonight actually. I had the ball at bottom gold on Guardian and, after a few casualties on either side, my team starts spawning at green while the enemy team spawns bottom blue. Tell me how this makes a damn lick of sense.
It makes sense because I believe the actual pick of a spawn location only depends on distance and deaths and teammates and not the ACTUAL map. Meaning the spawn system has no idea what the actual map looks like. This shall be corrected eventually within spawn systems but right now I feel they are very rudimentary.
I actually have a lot of great ideas for spawn systems (Me and Deepblue had a long discussion about this in IRC, Notable point = he had a lot of awesome ideas too) and would love to be able to test them out. For all of these ideas I have basic rules and then secondary and tertiary rules to their applications but the main points to my system are listed below:
A Choice spawn system - Similar to but not quite PDZ MP
Invisible Territories - allowing the spawn system to recognize where and for how long each team has been on a map.
LoS being factored into the spawn system. Who wants to be spawned inside of a grenade or inside the scope of a gun?
A button that allows you to spawn and a leway of + - a small amount of time to choose WHEN to spawn.
Also I've always hated on Time Warner but recently I complained (it wasn't my first time I did, but this time I was much more blunt, I've been on Adelphia for years and now its Time Warner Roadrunner) but I explained I've been a customer for years. They are upgrading my line by almost 3x the speed for free and giving me a new cable modem. So fucking pumped. I'm hoping with that and with a brand new router I buy I will no longer have ~250ms of latency. So thats going to be great!
Finally thanks Tashi. The Inner GAF (Reminds me of C Lewis's Inner Ring) all received codes that's great that's super awesome and I'm sure you guys feel real warm on the insides. But you guys kinda left out a huge chunk of regulars here. The Others... me storm deepblue are sitting in IRC wanting the maps. Tashi, Bladed, Backflip the GAF MLG (lol) representatives. You kind of forget that theres other parts of GAF, parts of GAF that dont start with the initials TJ, parts that dont have little inside jokes about odd armors we love to use because we like to be different because we only get our text in between the 3 pages discussing the best cereals. Which is and forever will be Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Well, it isn't a matter of being forgotten about or ignored. They were fortunate enough to receive codes and they want to play on the new maps. We didn't get codes, so we can't really partake in the custom games or discussions here in the thread. There isn't anything personal about it. We'll join in on the fun once we get the maps for ourselves in a few weeks.
Granted, having the flu over the weekend gave me lots of free time and made me wish I did have the maps. Sucks, but there is much more to life than Halo.
Yeah, it's always awesome when a Bungie employee can grace us with his presence. Also, I <3 the Mythic Playlist so friggin' much. I'm really surprised just how fast we're finding matches, considering how small the population is.

So, I'm gonna have to disagree with your ideas of the spawn system. As much as I bitch and complain about the spawn system, I think it's the implementation and not the system itself that sucks. I don't remember who from Bungie said it either in an update or a podcast but basically there is a point system. The "score" determines where the dead respawn. Like you said, the score is effected by location of teamates, grenades, location of enemies and location of last death. The reason I imagine Bungie did this is a real reason. They wanted one algorithm to determine spawns for EVERY map. On disc, or downloadable. For the most part, it works and they've done a great job. There are some mistakes and may or may not could've been foreseen. Maybe Team Slayer High Ground spawns should act more similar to CTF spawns. The gametype on that map plays a lot like that. I'm sure the heat map will show most of the action taking play somewhere between rocket spawn, bunker and in and around main gate.
So what if on High Ground, you couldn't spawn in bunker, or in the pipe room. It's either beach or giant missile launcher shits. (That's the scientific name if I believe lol) The map is large enough where spawn killing would not be that feasible at least for 4v4. Which raises another problem for Bungie, 8v8. Let says you got a 4v4 TS match up on High Ground, BR Starts (sorry dax ) Now you've got 1 team on the gate in the base and one on beach. Each with their respective power weapons. Laser and Sniper. If there were only 2 spawns on the map (beach and base) it would be crazy hard to spawn kill effectively. Leaning more towards impossible with competitive teams. For an effective spawn killing to occur that happens on CTF Onlaught (MLG guys will know what I'm talking about) you would need to have a guy or even 2 holding down the actual base spawns while 2 others were doing work on the beach. Only thing is, since it's TS, spawns are not tied down a specific base as they are in most objective games. Now one guy has laser so he can help from maybe laser spawn to beach and get some shots in. 2 against 4 with BR's, possibly rockets. Spawn trapping, very unlikely. The map would probably play out very similar to the way it does now, minus the "what the fuck, they just spawned behind me at the base"
Another map that has spawns are poorly implemented is Amplified, another MLG map. It can't be that I'm rubbish and my team can't properly hold a map down because this shit happens to everyone, including the pros. I've had guys spawn 5 feet behind me and a few teamates actually only to be assassinated. Sometimes I get the good end of that as well, but it's cheap and I don't like it.
Wow that's a decent sized wall, I'm not done yet though.
Juices, I'm glad you told your ISP what the fuck is up and that's pretty sick that they're hooking you up with a better connection. Wow we'll pull sick hosts now with me, you and Backflip all in New York and Bladed just across the pond hahaha. Good shit bro!
I feel the jealousy with you man, lol. I'm dying for these new maps and I don't think I'll be able to get Halo Wars in any reasonable time frame like I once thought. I don't wanna say that I deserve the maps for me, because I don't think that's true. But, I don't know. I wanna play on some new maps already. There are a ton of less dedicated Halo 3 players that dropped out a long ass time ago, obviously not anyone here but I've been stickin with this shit for a year and half now. Lol, so quick. I hate seeing people on my friends list playing on the new maps, I just wanna play with them!! Hahaha, but anyway, this post was way too fucking long. If you read it all, cool beans. It probably doesn't make sense at this point but, fuck it.
Oh and Cinnamon Toast Crunch is soooo good. But, not my favorite cereal. I gotta kick it classic and go with Cheerios. Nothing like a bowl of Cheerios with ice cold milk. Cheerios, good for the heart, good for life.
This reminds that I've never played a capture the flag game on Snowbound. I love Snowbound, too, so it's kind of disappointing. Though, I will admit that it probably doesn't work, but I would still like to try it out.
Got a map in the works. It's called Pitfall. Opposing bases will be three stories high, 1st, second story and then roof. Bases are joined by two paths that can be veiwed through "murder holes" within the main structures. Bases are intidicted by coloured pylons. I'm using some bizzare use of interlocking to create some, hopefully, interesting geometry. I'll try to post some pictures once I've progressed further.
Word of advice, use the items avaliable on the main floor in Sandbox. You will not regret it.
One thing that's a shame about Sandbox is that you can't use your creations in matchmaking. I can see some amazing maps coming out of forge, but I'll never be able to use them consistantly as I only play matchmaking (don't know enough Halo-ers to play customs).
Ah well. Not sure what they could do to counteract that. Maybe a specific sandbox forge playlist?

I forgotten to ask earlier, but how much of HaloGAF plays customs regularly? I remember in Halo 2 I used to play a lot of competitive custom games, about as much as I played matchmaking, but in Halo 3, I've nowhere near done as much, despite almost having played as many games overall. Whenever I do play a custom game, it's usually zombies and forging (screwing around) with friends, but I'm talking about CTF, Assault, or Slayer in customs. I guess it's because I'm hardly with enough people to get one going.
I'm always up for some good, competitive customs, just never get the good opportunity.
Oh joy, I'm signing up for classes tomorrow and this PChem is one of the classes I need to do next quarter. And the only time they're offering it is at 8:30 in the god damn morning
I don't feel sorry for you at all. I had one semester in college where I had 5 7:30am classes. 5! I think I only overslept once that semester too.
Good games last night to the "have nots." I still don't know how I only went up one level. It's not like I've played that much on the playlist. Whatever, I really don't care though it was nice to go positive a few games in ranked.
That was to awesome for words lol. When the assholes kept saying "just wait till we play you in BR Slayer" and then BR Orbital pops up on which we give them the ole dong 50 - 36 :lol it was glorious!
Edit: Yea other than those kids the playlist was filled with people saying good luck before the match started and good game once it was over, pretty awesome.

Yea it takes a bit to work out how it plays. It is definitely a better map than I initially gave it credit to be, not Sandbox/Assembly lvl but pretty good.

Only second to Quantum Chemistry in level of confusion. Although I was never that great at Calculus. I also ended up having it early and thus dozed of fairly frequently. Always wondered why tough classes are first thing in the morning when I'm all sleepy. Probably part of the vetting process
And guys, I know we all want the maps, but just posting here doesn't magically make you entitled to get them. It's not worth sacrificing your dignity over to beg for them. Community contribution is subjective, but I doubt your post count here qualifies.
