Am I the only person who has this problem? It's just not fun getting teabagged on 9 games out of 10, and I don't even like playing ranked anymore because I just feel like crap for dragging my team down (half of the games or more we lost we clearly lost because of me).

Well, you're probably playing with a lot of second-accounters who are boosting to 50, so you losing a lot of games doesn't really surprise me. Face it, the matchmaking system is broken. I'm a 45 in TS and whenever I play I'm matched up against Generals. It doesn't make any sense that the matchmaking system doesn't take overall rank into consideration as it should.

There's a reason only 1/4 of the games I've played in Halo 3 have been ranked. It's filled with alts/boosters and it's much harder to find a game. Then there's the ranking system which seemingly decides where you should be and keeps you there; it'd be nice if it was more malleable (if I'm struggling at my level then drop me quicker, if I'm winning than rank me up). It's a real shame the ranked playlists have the best weightings,no team splitting, and gametypes. If I had my way I'd make them all social and just go off the invisible rank (if it exists than it is far more lenient). Sure the matches would be less competitive as a whole but at least I'd be able to get into a TO or SB game with my party.

[edit] Nevermind, IGN says it's a skinned version of the hammer :lol Awesome.

Golf is the new soccer, (IGN-)confirmed.

Sweet news about all the Sandbox variants seeing use, Shiska.

Hmm...wonder if eventually, we could see a remake weekend playlist :P

Whats this? Under "All Maps" I find things like:

4 Secrets and 13 maps? Huh?
Hmm, interesting. Could be a number of things. There are 3 MP maps yet to be included (Longshore, Citadel, and Heretic) but that doesn't fill either "secrets" or "maps". Since the Halo 3 campaign levels are included it would seem like some of those slots could be filled with ODST campaign levels; though 13 seems like a lot (the mission structure of ODST is still a little mysterious).

Wonder how quickly the map slots will disappear..

Could also be planned Sandbox variants in matchmaking.

This has probably been answered before but I'm too lazy to look...will I need to buy the Legendary map pack in order to play the Mythic maps, or will they be completely separate?

Maybe we'll get another free map on 7/7, equaling the fourth secret map? :o

Probably not.

I doubt it. You figure they'd do something like that for Foundry variants like grifball if anything. Seems like it's be really complicated. Where do custom variants go? What happens if alterations made to a "official" map post-release?

You'll have to have downloaded both to play the Mythic maps in matchmaking. Hopefully MS gets off their asses and makes the Legendary Pack free before the Mythic ones hit XBLMP or the Halo playerbase is going to be splintered as shit. If you haven't downloaded the Legendary maps hold off until the Mythic pack drops.

That thought crossed my mind. Then I remembered Bungie saying that the maps released with ODST mark the last pieces of content they will make. It doesn't explicitely rule out more content between the Mythic pack and ODST but I sure as hell wouldn't get my hopes up.

Seperate, but playlists that say "All DLC required" will need you to have the Mythic Maps, Legendary Maps, Heroic and Cold Storage (obviously :P).

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but you'll only need the Legendary Map Pack in hoppers that require it.

I think he's asking what the overlap will be in the Mythic required and Legendary required playlists. Or, do the playlists that require Mythic also predominantly require all DLC?

As of release of Halo Wars, the only hopper that'll have Mythic maps on it is team Mythic, which won't have anything other than Mythic Maps. After the pack hits Marketplace, the plan is to integrate Mythic bit by bit into the existing hoppers. Rumble Pit requires all DLC, for example. When I add Mythic to it, it will continue to require all DLC. I have no intention of excluding Legendary now that there's a new pay-to-download map pack in town.

Lttp on the Mythic Map pack overload: Oh my god. I don't want to speak too soon, you know, without playing on any of them yet and all that, but these are seriously shaping up to be the best maps Bungie has ever made/released. Jesus, it's going to be a real bitch waiting the next month or so for 'em. Sadface total.

By the time us Marketplace buyers get the Mythic Pack will there still be a separate Mythic Pack playlist or will it just be moved, together with the other map packs that you guys have released, into DLC Slayer?

Seriously, but I'm thinking we actually might have to wait two+ months. :(

I seriously hope the Legendary maps are free by the time the Mythic pack hits the marketplace. I've already bought Legendary, but the playlist fragmentation is starting to get to me. Transitioning DLC into playlists without busting up the population has been more rough this time around than it was for Halo 2. I've got a lot of friends that I'd like to play Team Doubles with who don't play H3 as much, so they just keep telling me "I'll wait until it's free".

Team Mythic will stick around for a while, but it's not a permanent playlist. Once the map pack has been integrated into playlists to the point where Team Mythic is redundant, the playlist will likely be removed.

Ah, okay. Good to know that Team Mythic will still be up by the time the rest of us get the maps, because that's all I'm going to want to be playing after I get my hands on 'em. :P

Man EternalEnigmas questions....
If I were a paranoid NeoGaffer...

Thanks for the G4 link, reminds me in idea of the 1up Show segment for the Legendary pack last year.
Also, seeing Dan wearing the Superintendent t-shirt, I felt a little bit of excitement.
Thinking about a rumoured October release schedule, things must be pretty busy right now.
Time to dream of the goings-on.

:D

I've found that ranking in TS over 40 now it pretty difficult. I used to hover between 42-44, now I'm drastically close to 39. THE TERROR!

It's what's left of the population...people playing ranked TS are robots. Programmed to BR 4-shot, left-right dodge, and throw grenades like a surgeon.

Boo, Microsoft, Boo. :(

What I really want to know is how the playlists are going to be split when the new maps come out, you could have players with,

No bought maps.
Legendary only.
Mythic only.
Legendary and Mythic.
Full set of maps.

That's assuming the maps from the expansion won't be released, stand alone, on the marketplace. If they do, then there are even more possibilities of playlist fragmentation. In Bungle we trust I guess.

Joke post? Everyone knows that 4 shotting in TS is very difficult.

Some playlists, upon the marketplace release, will require the MMP, such as Social Team DLC and Social Big Team.

It doesn't matter what combination of maps you have or not. If you don't have all the DLC maps, you can't play a large majority of the better playlists. This has also already been addressed in one of the recent BWU.

Does it still mix in Legendary maps on non-required playlists when the population in a lobby all have the mappack, or was that just an alternative to the dedicated hoppers and has since been abandoned?

I've been on vacation, get home tomorrow, the Mythic stuff looks terrific. I don't know about Orbital though, it looks a bit convoluted. I'll have to reserve judgement for when I get my hands on it, whenever that is.

They tried it with the Heroic pack, but couldn't get it to work perfectly like how Call of Duty 4 does. So they shitcanned the idea.

So I can't get into matchmaking and can't load any maps. I get error:

Player failed to load content.

I'm thinking bad disc??

Lttp but Sandbox looks incredible. I can see sanctuary, warlock/wizard, lockout, boarding action - the list goes on and on.. :D

How does it work in CoD4?

And the Legendary/Heroic maps still pop up in playlists that don't require them. Just much less frequently?

Possibly. Try redownloading any DLC, maybe installing the game to your HD?

CoD4 immediately tags you as a DLC or non-DLC player when you're in the pre-game lobby. They actually have two sub-hoppers of each hopper to separate DLC and non-DLC. That way, you never have to hope that you're put in a room with fellow DLC owners; you're guaranteed to be. If you're in a party with someone who does not own DLC, you will always be thrown into the non-DLC hoppers.

If I recall, Halo 3 tried this when the Heroic maps launched, but it was a really shoddy system and no one ever got the DLC maps in normal playlists. So they scrapped it.

I don't think thats what it was. Pretty sure Halo auto-detected if all players had the maps within a given game > then if they did the DLC was an option out of several options for maps.

Digital Limit said:
It'd be a much smarter implementation, although it wouldn't push the product as much.

Makes sense.
That's fine and dandy when you only release a single piece of DLC but when you have 3 packages and 4 different groups of people with different segments of DLC, that option becomes rather complicated.

And Tango is correct, they never implemented the Heroic content like they do with the CoD4.

All Halo 3's system did was depend on every person in the lobby having the DLC. It didn't do the behind-the-scenes work that Call of Duty 4 does when it comes to matching you with DLC or Non-DLC players. When they saw that barely anyone was getting the Heroic maps in regular playlists, they just killed the idea.

I absolutely remember a Weekly Update before Legendary came out explaining that the system didn't work like they intended so they were just going to kill it.
