Would love to help you get some

Not really.

I don't really see that as an insult Dax, the majority of the population does like ARs.

Dani said:
Technically it wasn't an insult. Your viewpoint goes against his on the issue. I imagine most here would agree about non-BR starts on the bigger maps (based on the sames some of us played last night).

I was getting a really negative connotation from that sentence, as if it is somehow bad for me to like AR starts over BR starts.

So some of you really believe that Contact Harvest is the best book so far?

I'm just curious because the only book I have read is First Strike and I enjoyed it a lot. If what you all say is true I may have to pick up a copy of it.

Btw, Ram... you ignoring me on AIM!?

Dax01 said:

It is bad to some people who prefer BR starts, such as me and Ram, for the majority of people to be preferring AR starts, because it means that there's a far lesser chance of Bungie increasing BR starts and, in our opinion, making the game more fun.

Contact Harvest is a great book. It is pretty much the story of how the whole war began and escalated. Very good insight into the prophets too.

Is Smashed really the best map you could find Shishka? Really? ARs on Smashed? We leave that bad playlist and enter Team Objective for multi-flag Octoplex. I'm waiting for the Bungie officially licensed gamer chair that shoves a fist up my ass every time I search for BR starts.

Is Smashed Self Induced's map?

For me, it is easily the best so far -- it's also considerably different than the other books as well. Staten is an expert on the fiction, so who better to write a novel in the Halo universe. The manner in which he does it is a treat, as well. Not only does he spend a welcomed excess of time on things like the the Covenant and their history but he really has a manner of detail that is not present in the other novels.

When I first started reading Contact Harvest, I wasn't really excited. I think Johnson is a great character, but his archetype and that of the UNSC soldier is something which has been revisited many times already, both in the games and the novels -- I was really prepared for a myopic look at the UNSC's first encounter with the Covenant. What we got was something completely different and awesome.

Jacob/Ben: Guess what I'm doing in a few hours?

Win.

I wouldn't mind a hopper that clearly had no AR/BR in it all, would make for some interesting rethinking of how to play, move and plan around a map.

That and give the needler a chance to shine.

I've been playing way too much MLG playlist lately.

It seems like every time I play, there are one or two guys on my team that are the stereotypical MLG douchebag. Bitching, moaning, calling people bad, bitching about setups, bitching about what you're doing, bitching about everything.

Its hard to have fun in that playlist. But its the only one I want to play. So I sit there and say, "You're being THAT guy that people make fun of dickhead." "Relax.".

Sometime it snaps them out of it. Sometimes, no.

Ugh.

Whilst I don't play much MLG (something that needs to be fixed), this happens occasionally to myself (and probably most others).

I find the muting facility to be quite handy in such occasions.

There has been times when I'm leading my team, showing up everyone else in the team, and my team is loosing badly because the other guys are dicking around or sometimes just aren't good. I've been tempted to say something negative, but I don't. I just keep my mic switched off or try to encourage the team if the lead difference is manageable. I've also been on the other side, sucking so bad I'm pulling my team down, it's hard to expect others to be as courteous, and I appreciate when they are.

I am watching netflix right now and just get a message from MFA xxJiGSaWxx because I guess xxJiGSaWxx was taken anyway it said, 1v1 Halo 3? I obviously respond with this message, 2v2 UNO? I will keep you guys posted :lol

Update: He says "hmm. I don't know any 1 who has uno. btw im gonna join the neoGAF forum if dats ok"..........shit just got real lol

So I'm playing Slayer Avalanche in Social Big Team and all of a sudden the other team starts spawning OUR base...

So they removed side only spawns huh? Terrible decision IMO.

Didn't know that happened all of a sudden I'm being raped by an AR in my back, fucking 23-1.

Also isn't there anyway to fix the whole black screen killing your kill spree. Such a killjoy.

Also why the fuck is like every game renamed Blam! when I go into theater. Avalanche Big Team Slayer renamed Blam!

LOL Team Hardcore was SHIT.

3v3 Isolation 2Flag. Yea just BRILLIANT!

Seriously STFU about Team Hardcore being good. It was the beta MLG and it had so many things wrong with it.

The players all sucked and it only had a higher population because it never reached the phase past NEW playlist.

Playing 2Flag on Isolation was rare. I can't help that matchmaking chose to match you up 3v3 for once. Hardcore was great for skirmish games on the Pit. I am thankful that MLG does keep most of the MLGers out of the fun playlists. :D

Wow, passionate hate for a playlist? Calm down, dude. I was never fond of it, but I could never bring myself to feel passionate about it. That or any playlist for the record.

Speaking of playlists, I wonder what we'll have for the Mythic Maps release? Multiple hoppers is unlikely, it'll probably be a mix of slayer and objective.

Can anyone remind me of the initial hoppers for the previous packs release?

Super long flag returns on Narrows? There was a TON of errors. Most of which I explained in a B.net post along time ago which I won't go into.

Really though my hate is not that passionate but I assure you MLG >>> TH.

Also highlighted section: When you get a party of 3 MM tends to give you 3v3's instead of finding 4ths for your team. Its lazy and dumb and 3v3 should be removed from MLG as you need to play 4v4 as per MLG's rules.

For Legendary (IIRC) it was:
DLC Slayer (4v4 on Ghost Town, Blackout, AND Team Duel on Avalanche)
DLC Objective (6v6 on Ghost Town and Avalanche)

It was a decent setup. Better than the switch to DLC FFA and DLC BTB, IMO.

I'm still hoping that Bungie doesn't put playlists up for Mythic until the maps are available for everyone.

And Team Hardcore was pretty awesome.

Thank you. I couldn't remember them for some reason.

Well if you consider the fact that people who buy Halo Wars LE would be disappointed to find that they couldn't use the maps without finding someone else with HWLE and arranging a custom game with just them (annoying because you'd have to arrange with friends of a place like GAF or Bnet), well that would be highly restrictive and a counter incentive to the inclusion of said maps in the LE.

xxjuicesxx said:
How would people play the maps then??

See the paragraph above. =(

Living in Europe, I fully expect to have to wait a week until the US release to get a hopper (not saying that this would right either, just expected), but it would be rather annoying to have to wait even longer (3-4 weeks plus!?) just to use the DLC in matchmaking.

If that was the case I'd forgo getting the LE at all and possibly even HW itself, as the inclusion of the maps (and my lack of funds) is a strong factor in my purchase.

The uncertainty surrounding the Mythic playlist, as the release draws closer has me abit cranky. Every friday update I keep hoping for more. I'd rather have Mythic info at this point rather than ODST info, as ODST has many a month to go.

If you manage to snag a LE of Halo Wars you'll be too busy having a blast clicking on flaming warthogs to think about Halo 3. Halo Wars, if it's any good or worth $80, should be able to keep those entertained until the maps hit XBLMP.

Wouldn't be interesting to know the decision maker for the future sales of the LE over the vanilla version of HW?

I'd bet on the cool clothing patch over H3 fans wanting new maps any day. =)

So is it wrong then that I want to jump into the maps first? The game can wait for me. So can the maps, but they would feel lonely. I also have skulls to find.

Shit, I just realised something. It is possible that the code given away with the LE, may not be active until the maps are released on the marketplace. Wait, going to read over some stuff, Bungie did say included right, as in, you get instant map action? I couldn't have overlooked something like that...

Team Hardcore, even in Halo 2 was just a solution for MLG players to play matchmaking. It was kind of the same thing in Halo 3 until of course the MLG playlist.

BTW, I just played on the new Foundry map, Smashed. I really like it. I'll probably hate it when I play against a decent team on it but so far so good.

Also we had this argument back on page 1099 Lunatic preferred Hardcore because it had EQUIPMENT and used different weapons.

(AKA he likes Slayer playlists and is one of those kids)

My old old post on B.net NeoGAF post #65624

Quote:
First let me say that I love the new Team Hardcore playlist and it is now my favorite playlist and will be pretty much all I play from now on, and you did a very good job. After some careful thought I've come up with some suggestions, please don't take it as me -blam!-ing because if unchanged I will still be completely happy with the playlist and play it consistently.

My suggestions are:

-Increase the speed, it is still too hard to catch up to flag carriers, disarm bombs, and kill VIPs in time because the spawning and movement system is too slow. If the option is there use it, increase it to like 110% at minimum or 125%. It will increase the fun of objective based hardcore gametypes. After all its generally agreed Halo 3's game speed feels too slow.

- Follow MLG gametypes more closely, I know Hardcore isn't MLG but they are supposed to be similar and I see it as nothing but a good move business wise for Bungie and MLG to create a close relationship because after all MLG has been using Halo games as its flagship competitive game for several years now. Add the crates in the bases on the HC The Pit map at least. Besides it gives people a chance to practice for MLG. Perhaps you could even just let MLG manage the Hardcore playlist for awhile? I know it'd be unfavorable giving control of part of your game to someone else but it would be pretty neat.

-Limit the variation of maps. I remember in H2 it was pretty reliable you were going to get Lockout, Midship, or Warlock every single game. I feel as if there is too much of a range on H3's map variation. Remove Valhalla that level is simply too big for 4v4 objective gametypes, furthermore I feel in Halo 3 there shouldn't be 3v3's unless its limited to slayer gametypes its just a definite capture if you get a double kill and with rockets and whatnot on the maps thats bound to happen almost every game leaving people feel uncomfortable with the game they just had.

-Limit the power weapons and equipment even more, you did a great job with the maulers but in HC gametypes I feel that there are still too many power weapons and nobody really fights over any weapon or equipment specifically like they would in Halo 2, BESIDES THE ROCKETS ON NARROWS, which everyone fights for in the beginning every game. I kind of feel those rockets should be completely removed or put them in the middle bridge thing underneath where its much more open and would be harder to retrieve.

-Add some KoTH gametypes. I'm not sure if I just got unlucky but I didn't see any KoTH in the 40 or so games I've played of Hardcore. Remove the objective games on Isolation and have it slayer only. It just doesn't work as an objective map. In about the opposite try adding an objective gametype to Construct, I don't believe there are any currently.

-Can you turn the man cannons off in Narrows 2 flag?. I feel like if you get the flag across the man cannon, trip wise you have the flag a little more than half way there but you can basically already count it as a capture. In fact in all my games I have yet to see a flag thats made it over man cannon returned.

That is all the changes. Please consider them. Please post some constructive criticism. Thanks everyone.

_______

Reading it pretty much all my suggestions came true. The man cannons still work but back in Hardcore the reset time for flag was so long you couldn't stand over it long enough to get it back so the capture was almost ensured. Must have been MLG and me had the same ideal playlist or something. Must be why I like it so much.

That post was a week after Bungie released Team Hardcore. So I don't HATE IT. MLG is just an improved version of it.

Nope; just as long as you give Halo Wars the amount of attention you think it deserves. Can't wait to play the maps with you, Dani. =)

No. Those who purchase Halo Wars LE will be able to play the new maps for an undisclosed amount of time before the map pack hits XBLM. Meaning, they can be downloaded as soon as you enter the code in.

DLC FFA was sort of a nod to the achievement hunters wasn't it? Let them get some of those "On a Legendary map...." achievements. Not that it wasn't a fine playlist on it's own merits, Smokey.

And is Splockets the only Spartan Laser starting weapon gametype in matchmaking? I looked through the Bungie matchmaking list, but it doesn't look completely updated yet. I still enjoy heavies as it's sort of a poor man's Splasers.

Because it doesn't detract from the experience when I play. I hardly am in a situation where I have to shoot the gunner with a BR when I can just stick them with a plasma grenade, or go hide inside a building. .

Quoted for insanity. Since hiding with your tail between your legs in a building is so much more fun than BRing a gunner off his pedestal.

Elephant testicles?

I'm not sure which versoion of Halo Wars I am getting yet. It will depend on how much money I happen to have at the time. If I'm tight for cash or just bought gas the day before, then I'll buy the standard.

How to suck at MLG

63731379-Medium.jpg

Ignore invisible enemies, you can't see them, so they ain't there, right?

63731845-Medium.jpg

Spawning below enemies who have the high ground is key, make sure to charge!

63731583-Medium.jpg

Never stick with your team mates, killing enemies becomes too easy - who would want that?

63732109-Medium.jpg

Blindly jump into unknown situations, your brave attitude will ensure victory!

63732473-Medium.jpg

Holding shiny blue lights in your hands will scare enemies

63732184-Medium.jpg

Don't learn from your mistakes, you'll make new ones eventually!

63733499-Medium.jpg

MLG settings mean you can be meleed from a few yards away, robbing you of certain victory

Is it so shocking that I would prefer to play with equipment since the game was designed to use it?

Also, Team Skirmish/Objective is my preferred game type, but you wouldn't know that since I only play with a full team assembled. You obviously haven't seen my K/D ratio. :lol

Like the warthog will just wait out there for you to come out. Besides, you are more likely to get killed by the gunner than you him.
