Not sure. Either way its not real. The area in that picture is the building you drive towards in the opening of 'The Storm' level in H3.

And if you look at the 2 billboards, there the same but they face opposite directions, but nice job on the photoshopping on who ever made it.

This sort of thing has probably been everywhere by now, but I haven't seen. My kid and I have been toying with different things to pile on the Scarab. Last week was the Wraith, this week, the Scorpion tank.

Awesome. Just do me a favor, don't forget to pick up your kid because you are playing games? My dad did that to me once, I think it scared him so much he never touched a videogame again in his life. Ohh the power of Super Mario brothers.

This game was SOOOO laggy. And coincidentally, there were 2 five star generals, who were partied up. They were pretty bad.

His service tag is L49. Pretty legit IMO.

Bungie should be worried but I'm sure they are going to get the banhammer on them. They just gotta commit the crime first!

They will totally be receiving a 2 week EXP ban! LOL Trust me I speak from experience they are totally good at banning peoples accounts from the MM service. This way they get to lag people out all over again to get another 50 account!

Seriously though Bungie has a lot more to worry about. Like installing a ranking system that actually works instead of just giving the broken system an aesthetic lift to it to make us forget that its broken. Adding Highest Rank factoring into the MM process. Implementing fixed playlists (Team Doubles Crazy King, Standoff FFA?)

I'm starting to really like SWAT. My non-Halo playing friends liked watching me play in this playlist more because it's more "realistic" (since there's no radar and one-shot kills).

The leveling up/down (for me) has been pretty straight forward so far: win, and you rank up. Lose and you rank down. :)

Anyways so the game is called Push it. Its set up for 4v4 asymetric multi-flag. Maps like Ghost Town, Epitaph, The Pit, Snowbound, maybe Last Resort are what I have in mind. 3 caps to win.

Player stats are 200% speed, and active camo. Whenever you pick the flag up though you become visible and you move at 25%. There is no flag returns and no resets so you just need to push it further and further and get 3 caps before the other team does the exact same.

Because everyones invisible allocating the right amount of players to offense and defense is important and slaying takes a backseat to objective because of the camo and speed
Give this man playlist control!

I am really surprised that neither the thread or the weekly update has addressed the most important question since Recon has been announced.

Will we been getting an ODST cat helmet to sit next to our MC cat helmet? lol

actually I think one of the interviews mentioned something along the lines of that, they said that there most likely won't be. It is in one of the interview that HBO had posted up I think.

So H3:R isn't cross compatible with H3 correct? I know they've said the Mythic maps will be on the H3:R disc and will be exported to the HDD for play in H3 but will we be able to play H3 on the maps exclusive to H3:R?

This really seems like it could divide the H3 population. Should I play H3:R's MP where everyone is guaranteed to have the 6 mythic maps as well as the exclusive maps but none of the existing Halo 3 maps? Or should I play Halo 3 where there are already a bucket of great maps and once and a while I'll get a game on a mythic map and never get to play on the exclusive maps?

That's something I'm confused about as well. How is this exactly going to work?

I think it'll be like:

All players connect to the same player pool, H3Recon and H3 Regular.

If you are playing H3 regular you can only get Matched to H3Recon players if you own the Mythic DLC. Of course this would only matter in Mythic required playlists (The DLC playlists)

This would be irrelevant in all other playlists as I assume H3Recon will have all H3 maps + Mythic pack.

It'll be a small split mostly effecting H3 players who don't buy the Mythic DLC. But they will still be matched up against H3Recon players who are playing in non-mythic-DLC required playlists.

I guess what I'm saying is it will be a small split only effecting the Mythic required playlists. Basically the same as all other DLC splits seen previously.

To add to that, at PAX, there was a stand-alone title screen for Halo 3 Mythic that featured Matchmaking, Customs, Forge and Theater. I'm assuming when it ships every single map from Halo 3 will be in it. As Luke said in an interview from TGS, Halo 3 multiplayer and campaign are seperate. Basically, it's just the complete Halo 3 MP experience, with a different campaign included. So functionally it will be no different than someone with Halo 3 + DLC.

I would be very surprised if that is the way it worked dude. I would think that the exclusive recon maps would be downloaded to your hard drive like a map pack and then you would still us the halo 3 disk for multiplayer.

Its meant to be part of the mini games, a playlist with quicker games in mind(maybe less serious gametypes) for people in a rush or want to rake in EXP real fast. Other gametypes in the playlist include Instagib to 25, and The Stocks KoTH gametype. Anyways I hope we can test and play these in some customs, IF THAT EVER HAPPENS!

that actually sounds fun

i think 1flag with the flag in a different spot would be fun, too. like on the beach rather than in the base on last resort. there needs to be a playlist with random gametypes like that

Will the Halo 3 : Recon multiplayer maps work with "regular" copies of Halo 3?

If you purchase the Mythic Map Pack early next year via Marketplace and your friend waits and gets them with the Halo 3 : Recon retail package next Fall, you can still play together. The multiplayer maps are all part of the Halo 3 "title ID" family, regardless of where or how you get them.

I'm thinking Halo 3: Recon players would be considered "Halo 3 players who have the Mythic Maps" as would someone who's playing on Halo 3 w/ the Mythic Maps downloaded. So everyone would still need to have the Mythic Maps (regardless of how) to play them in a playlist that's not requiring them.

Wait, hasn't Bungie said previously that Matchmaking can't work this way?

The way I understand it, is that in the past when new DLC was released, it would get added to all playlists. However, Matchmaking would only check if everyone has the maps after you've been matched with a bunch of people, so the chance of ever having a game on DLC map in a standard playlist was pretty slim.

It wouldn't search for people who had the DLC you had, to ensure you got a game on a DLC map.

Anyone else wanna chip in to clarify?

So did anyone bother testing Valhalla Heavies before dumping it into Big Team DLC? The map usually favors the blue team because of that hill/cliff, and that's usually fine because I'm used to it by now. I've been beaten by the red team many times and I've won on the red team many times before. The problem with this map being used as a Heavies variant map is that it's ridiculously unfair to the red team. The blue team's tank gets cover from lasers with that cliff. Their laser dudes get cover from that cliff. Their sniper dudes get cover from that cliff. Everything is stacked against the red team. What also makes the game worse is that the red team's teleport is in the middle of like 5 fusion cores. If you step out to stop some dude that made his way through with the flag then you're going get raped.

Is there a multiplayer component to Halo 3: Recon?

There are multiplayer maps that will appear as a part of the Halo 3: Recon package. This includes the aforementioned Mythic Map Pack in addition to a few others. You can also experience the entire Recon campaign cooperatively with up to 4 players.
While this doesn't explicitly rule out the possibility of having every H3 map and DLC on the Recon disc, I kind of doubt this is the case. You would think they'd say, "This includes the maps in Halo 3 and the aforementioned..."

They've already confirmed that we have the choice to download the Mythic maps or export them from Recon. I'm still hopeful that we'll be able to export the exclusive Recon maps into Halo 3; the only difference between them and the Mythic maps being the inability to simply download them.

If this isn't the case then the DLC playlists will either have to require the exclusive Recon maps and thus denying those using Halo 3 to enter the playlist, or have the DLC playlists not require the exclusive Recon maps and thus making those maps rarely pop up for Recon players as they'll be in the same pool as the Halo 3 players.

Ugh, it's just really confusing. All I want it a single disc from which I can play all the maps in playlists that require them.

Of course it sounds like fun, I thought of it. :D

But seriously I feel like Bungie gave us so many options to change the maps and gametypes yet they barely USE any of it. It'd just be nice to see some more random gametypes like Actionsack style in MM.

Didn't they say they were working on a Actionsack playlist? They said something like AU2 would make it easier to make a playlist like this happen.

I agree that with the idea that the maps will be available for download to your harddrive but I'd guess you can use either disk to play Halo 3 multi-player. There will be no disk swapping unless you plan on playing the other campaign.

None of this matters to me because I won't be buying the disk based copy anyway, but instead download the whole shebang.

I hope a lot of that comes from skulls. Rather than getting 50 points for just beating a level I would prefer getting 50 for beating each level with 2 skulls.

Will the Recon campaign content or the other multiplayer maps be available through Xbox LIVE Marketplace?

Beyond the Mythic Map Pack early next year, there are no plans to release other portions of the Recon package outside of the retail box.

Huh

There will be a digital distribution option for this game? Awesome.

*sigh* Same problem. Same location.

Can someone PLEASE fix the bug that allows you to throw grenades through the shield doors in Epitaph??????

Doing the same thing myself - in Social Slayer.

Man I hope the map selection for matchmaking expands soon.

Agreed; I've been playing a lot of Social Slayer (see reason above), and it's mainly Standoff, The Pit, Construct, High Ground, and Valhalla. I've played on Guardian once this whole day.

When you look at the Bungie stats page and see the playlist ratings on the ratings history tab do those grey bars behind the playlist names mean anything? They are all different lengths?

it looks like it is the percentage of that playlist compared to your most played playlist...whats the deal with that?

So I played Halo 3 again for the first time in months. And I enjoyed it even more than before. Need to practice though :D
