Standoff is open enough for FFA, but MUCH too large.

Think Midship for the perfect FFA map.
Eh, I never was a fan of Midship. Just turned into a sword control match. I was good with it, but it just seemed too cheap. Lockout was the perfect FFA map.

I'm talking MLG Midship it had a shotgun in the middle but chances are you'd die before getting it. Lockout was a good FFA especially a snipers FFA match.

i dont believe any map is good for ffa
mostly because ffa sucks
this is because it turns into running into the most crowded area trying to steal some kills before you get killed, then repeating that over and over again
if you play smart and dont run towards were the action is you might get a positive k/d but you wont win

stay away from ffa, stay far far away

Nothing wrong with a little criticism of a flawed game.

yeah come on guys, cliffy b did his best on gears 2, but i guess it wasn't enough to beat anything!. Oh well, time to go back to Halo 3!

What's up with this? I got Valhalla earlier and after we all vetoed we got Last Resort 1 bomb.
I think the October changes are going to be implemented later this month, so you can still get a non-DLC map after a veto.

Whose upset? If anyone should be it's you. You're stuck playing a game that not only has crappier small maps but also shittier large maps.
Why would I be upset? I'm not the person here who's getting offended because one poster liked one set of Halo maps over another.

For I am having a blast with what I feel to be the best Halo has ever offered....
That's great.

I, on the other hand, feel differently in terms of map enjoyment. You only played little under 600 games of Halo 2 online. Unless you played tons of LAN, that's not a deep experience of the maps of Lockout, Coagulation, Terminal, Relic, Sanctuary, Beaver Creek, etc. Maps like Lockout, Sanctuary, Relic, Terminal, and many others were amazing. Hence why people have screamed for remakes.

It's OKAY to like one set of maps over another. I'm not bashing the game or Bungie. Relax and enjoy the trilogy's experience. Be happy!

Mythic is gonna have 6 maps. thats insane...20$ download I'm guessing.
Shouldn't be. As time passes and new games which do new things come around, the experience devalues. If know I would buy them at that price, but many other people wouldn't. MS would be crazy to charge that much.

I forgot how much fun and competitive playing halo with your friends only can be. I just got back from a LAN party and had a blast. It just cracks me up when you hear "FUCK YOU" coming from the other room. :lol :lol

It'll probably be right around 1200 Microsoft Points. The last two map packs, which contained three maps each time, costed 800 Microsoft Points, so 1200 for six maps is very reasonable, IMO.

The real question is... Buy the map pack in Winter or wait for the package release in the fall? I'm starving for new maps because the base maps bore the fuck out of me, but it's going to suck basically buying it twice.

Laugh out Loud.

You're buying the Mythic Maps to play the Mythic Maps.

You're buying Halo 3: Recon to play the campaign monologue to Halo 3.

Plain and simple.

How'd you come to this conclusion?

I think once sandbox releases with it's advanced forge features, we'll probably have many more then that.
Assuming based on 2 things.

-We know that "Mythic" pack is 6 maps, because of the achievements.
-No Halo game has shipped with less than a dozen or so maps.

So I am just guessing and saying the H3:R disk will come with a total 12 maps, of which 6 will have already been released.

I am just making things as I go, but damn I hope we are getting 12 more maps as that would f'n ROCK

I don't think Halo 3: Recon can be grouped into this line of thinking at all. Halo 1, 2, and 3 were games. Like, whole games. Recon is just a "new campaign." If it were a full game, then I'd absolutely agree that we could expect at least twelve maps from it... but it is not at all similar to any other Halo product that has been released.

Well then at the least, we can expect another 3 new maps. :p

Ok, I'm not much of a Forge user but I had a question on Forge in H3R. The Forge in H3R is supposed to have more features, so given that the game is supposed to be multiplayer compatible with Halo 3 how will those new Forge features function if one person is in H3R and one is in Halo3 during a Forge session? And related to that, would a map Forged in H3R with the new Forge features be usable in Halo3? Or would the new Forge features be limited to the Recon only maps?

I'm not buying them until they're required for mm. I feel completely ripped off having bought the Legendary maps, and I'm not going to repeat my mistake.

Here's an idea that just popped into my head. In theory, Bungie could make any changes they make to the ODST in Recon to the players in Halo 3 matchmaking using the player traits (adjust health, shields, speed etc, potentially a patch for anything too fancy). The Recon pack could then come with some different maps/gameplay which is accessible to other existing Halo 3 players through a separate playlist.

Feasible? Likely? Or Crazy talk? :lol

So how many maps are "allocated" to Mythic, and how many for Recon? Are the six listed in the Achievements all part of the Mythic set?

Would MS force them to only release three as the Mythic set, and hold three for a year for Recon? Or are there more beyond the six we think are coming in Mythic?
I'd guess the former, unfortunately.

Where are you getting that H3R's Forge has more features? Everything I've read says that it'll be the same as Halo 3's Forge.

Louis Wu said:

I'd guess the latter, purely because Halo 3 already has the achievements for the Mythic maps, including one referencing "all Mythic maps". If the Mythic map pack is split into two sets of three maps, one of which comes with H3:R, then owners of Halo 3 wouldn't be able to get all 1750 achievements.

The only reason I'm not completely sure is because Microsoft just completely ignored their own rules about achievement point limits for Halo 3, a deviation from standards that they still haven't addressed. And none of the sites or blogs have even picked up on it. Games journalism yeah!

If you say so.

Sorry. I was tired.

Anyways, I forgot who brought it up initially, but I like the concept of shooting out lights. It would make the whole game a little more stealthy without taking away too much of the Halo factor. Plus, how badass would it be to shoot out a room full of lights and have Grunts start freaking out? :D

Wow. Holy cow, that is exciting.
I know.:D Guess I don't have to worry about the quality of the story anymore, now that I know Joe Staten is involved.

It's exciting.
Oh, and, Bungle - Forge playlist - make it happen.

This sort of thing has probably been everywhere by now, but I haven't seen. My kid and I have been toying with different things to pile on the Scarab. Last week was the Wraith, this week, the Scorpion tank.

You're a cool dad. I wish my father would pile vehicles on Scarabs with me.

Anyways so the game is called Push it. Its set up for 4v4 asymetric multi-flag. Maps like Ghost Town, Epitaph, The Pit, Snowbound, maybe Last Resort are what I have in mind. 3 caps to win.

Player stats are 200% speed, and active camo. Whenever you pick the flag up though you become visible and you move at 25%. There is no flag returns and no resets so you just need to push it further and further and get 3 caps before the other team does the exact same.

Because everyones invisible allocating the right amount of players to offense and defense is important and slaying takes a backseat to objective because of the camo and speed.

Its meant to be part of the mini games, a playlist with quicker games in mind(maybe less serious gametypes) for people in a rush or want to rake in EXP real fast. Other gametypes in the playlist include Instagib to 25, and The Stocks KoTH gametype. Anyways I hope we can test and play these in some customs, IF THAT EVER HAPPENS!

In awhile we won't be needing Gamevee anyway. Once we are able to download our stuff from Bungie.net, it's youtube for all!:D
BuTube, fool. Get it right!

Although, it sounds silly with Bungie abbreviated. I much prefer BungieTube.
