Recommend me a playlist in order to find these so I can achieve my achievements. I'm having a tough time finding them. :(
They're in the DLC playlists, and they're required for the Double EXP weekend playlists and Team Doubles.

Just broke a seven-game losing streak by winning 99-98 as time ran out.

*exhales slowly*

I'm too old for this stuff.

Remember that video Bungie shelved in July because MS pushed back the announcement? Can we see it now?
I'm pretty sure we just did.

I just started replaying WoW and I will probably be buying WotLK. :P

Edit: The Bungie folk lurking this thread probably think we are 'insatiable.' ;)

Some of you are. :lol

Let's put it into perspective, the other top Live game, COD4, has had ONE map pack and I don't think they even have plans to release anymore. :lol

Yeah, but people actually liked the maps COD4 shipped with.

Besides, I mean, who really cares what COD4 or IW does? That has nothing to do with the state of the Halo 3 multiplayer experience.

all you people saying that halo will "collect dust" during the holidays your just kidding yourself
you'll always have halo in your rotation, its just the anger speaking right now

IT'LL BE A GEARS OF WAR CHRISTMAS

Or 6 for Mythic, with 3 more being exclusively for Recon.

So the Recon maps should have the same compatibility ala Rock Band. The maps should be able to be ripped to the hard drive and bootable from Halo 3. Or you can rip all the maps from Halo 3 to play in Recon.

Thats assuming Halo 3 Recon multiplayer is anything like Halo 3.

Or you could just buy Halo 3: Recon and delete the maps from your HDD since all DLC maps might be in Recon, thus saving a shit-ton of HDD space instead of adding more into it.

Recon could have the original Halo 3 maps on it as well. But if I don't want Recon, just want the new maps. I hope Bungie and MS provide a solution. I don't wanna have to buy physical copies of maps that I already dl'd or have on the original Halo 3.

I'm probably jumping the gun, it's too early to tell WTF is going to happen.

I think map packs have some of us spoiled since the Halo 2 days. Bungie did a fantastic job of supporting Halo 2 and an even better one in regards to Halo 3 so what you're alluding to is true. We should be more grateful and patient for future releases.

Hey, I know a lot of you guys would go 1000 miles for some Halo footage but what about for some Luke Smith.

Apparently he is playing at The Fest 7. His band: Drag The River

Not that shabby Luke.
Quoted for the lulz. I love Bungie IRC late at night.

Guys, come on, now. We all know Recon will be a $60 title.

Let's all just assume that, so if it is something else, then it'll be a pleasant surprise.

I hope it is a $60 title, because at that price we expect a full campaign, not so six hour bullshit like it seems to be so far.

I ouldn't disagree more. With Halo 2, Bungie set the bar, and they (and I know that MS is likely the actual problem here) haven't lived up to that, which means that we all very well should be disappointed. One year after Halo 2's release, there were 21 free and required maps. One year after Halo 3's release there are 14 free and required maps, and 4 that cost money and are only required in a few playlists. I'm tired of being grateful and patient. I'm tired of Halo 3 feeling so stale. I miss being excited about playing it in matchmaking.

Halo 3 was around six hours. Take that as you will.
Uh, you're a bit off. Tsavo Highway + The Ark is 3 hours right there.

Me and four buddies started the campaign around 12:30 a.m. on launch night and were done by 7 a.m. that morning.
The answer to how long the campaign is, "it depends". What difficulty? How many players? Which skulls turned on? You can beat it in a couple of hours in four-players on anything other than Legendary.

It took me 12 hours my first time through, solo, on Heroic. About the same on my second solo romp, then on Legendary. I've blown through The Ark in 40 minutes with friends, and spend two and a half hours on it with friends and a brutal mix of skulls turned on. I once took two days working my way through Tsavo Highway with Mythic, Thunderstorm, Catch and Cowbell on Legendary. Solo.

If Recon features the same kind of highly flexible gameplay - and they've said it will carry over the same feature set as Halo 3 - tossing a random number out there doesn't mean a lot. Halo 3 is six hours long, or 12, or 15. But it's crazy deep, and that's what I suspect Recon will be.

I dont consider a 4 player coop run to be a fair measure of the game's length even on legendary. In 4 player coop, dying hardly matters at all as rarely do you all get wiped out.

You need at least a few skulls turned on with 4 players on legendary for their to be any real challenge.

Your collection of stupid looping chic avatars amazes me.
It's the same girl, her name is Sophie Ellis Bextor, and there is nothing stupid about her.

Also, if the game is packed to its fullest with epicness, I could take 3 hours of gameplay. Something short and sweet that I could play over and over, like the original Metal Gear Solid.

Well, I ran Heroic with one guy who is really bad at Halo and I had the same start/finish time as Fox...

But even still, like many have said, you can make the game short or long depending on how you decide to play it. I don't care how long a game is these days, just that it's a great experience.

The general measure of time it takes to beat a game is a concept that may have been born from game reviews. Reviewers usually measure game length by the standard single player mode a game has. In Halo 3's case, it would be a Normal or Heroic run through. My own original Halo 3 campaign run through on Heroic took approx. 5.867 hours.

I assume Halo 3 Recon's campaign will be judged in a similar fashion. Skulls and co-op are not the initial experience that someone will use to measure the game's length.

The online community and how Bungie has been supporting Halo 3 is damn impressive. Easy for Halo 2 to have gotten more assets as building them took less time than Halo 3 art likely does.

Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I don't recall any map packs coming out in Halo 2's first year...maybe the Warlock one came out near the tail end of the first year, it's been so long! :lol

Yes I think that by the first year almost all of Halo 2 DLC had been released already. I remember purchasing it with my housemates close to June 2005 when Halo 2 released on 2004.

You and four buddies = 5 people... you mean 3 buddies (Striker, Ranger and me)

We started the campaign @ 11:30 PM PST according to bungie.net and finished Halo the final level @ 4:45 AM PST... so it actually was a little over 5 hrs to complete it. The games are still logged on bungie.net under our campaign section.

You can argue that Halo 3's map collection is the worst of trilogy. Also, some of the worst gametypes as well. It's amazing what a few tweaks can do, but Bungie hasn't done it or won't do it. I praise them for dishing out maps still, but I don't think that the collection of maps right now give enough variety.

Worst small maps, sure. It has the best big maps of the trilogy hands down, IMO.

Small maps (and medium sized maps) are the best for competitive play, which for me makes them the most fun to play on. WTB more solid maps in this category. :(

I'd say it ties, in the big maps category, with Halo 1. And the sad thing is you hardly get to play on Avalanche. I wish they would require all the maps in order to play in matchmaking. They really aren't that expensive at all...
