In FFA, you get EXP for placing in the top half. So if there are 8 people, you can place 4th and still get EXP. If there are 6 or 7, place in the top 3.Sean said:So do you level up 1 EXP each game you play in (DLC) FFA?
I've been coming in third place some times and still leveling up, not sure if the EXP system is broken and handing things out too easily or that's just how it works.

So much for "everyone wants this," hm?

Phatcorns said:On another note, the heavy gametypes suck. It's very simple. You put tons of vehicles AND tons of anti-vehicle weapons on the map, who has the advantage, the vehicle or the anti-vehicle? The anti-vehicle does. There's no point in even having the vehicles on the map with that many anti-vehicle weapons.

I'd really like to see it fully removed from ranked play, but at worst have it pop up as often as those neutral bomb matches.

Falagard said:I'd like heavies if they'd only have one or two lasers on the map. Maybe even have more rocket launchers or missile pods instead.
I'm thinking one laser, two missile pods, two rocket launchers. Make longer respawn times.
At least with missile pods you have a chance to get behind cover or outrun them, and rocket launchers are more of a "I have to stand directly in the path of the vehicle to take it down" type weapon.
Then the question becomes, is this any better then just playing default team slayer on these maps? Just seems like a game mode that will only pile on the frustration for the loosing team. Sort of like watching a Saints game where you just want to tear your eye balls out after.....Insaniac said:First, heavies should never appear on maps like valhalla and Standoff. Right now only Sandtrap and Avalanche are feasible for good games of the Heavy variant. Secondly, as everyone knows, there are too many frickin lasers. I remedied this by only allowing two lasers, one in each base. This grants each team a laser, making it balanced (instead of fighting for random lasers in the middle of the field) and the lasers are also on a 2 minute delayed respawn. Therefore, there is no lasers for 2 minutes in the beginning, allowing for heavy vehicle-based combat, without the fear of getting cheesed immediately.Drevil.gif
To offset the lack of lasers I added more rockets. While rockets are still quite effective at destroying vehicles, they require a good deal of skill to take out vehicles from afar. Also I put rockets near the Mongeese. Why? Cause what else are you gonna do with a mongoose on a heavies game? (besides it's fun as hell)
Finally, I added more stickies, plasma pistols, power drains, tripmines. Anti-vehicle stuff without the ridiculous lameness of Lasers.
Oh and the vehicle respawns. Scorpians do NOT need a 45 second respawn (150 seconds). Even WITH lasers those things can be a huge pain to take out.
I agree with this. One laser in the center, perhaps on a slightly faster respawn than normal, plus a bigger mix of other anti-vehicle equipment. I realize it's been excised from matchmaking for the jump bug, but the Flare equipment would be interesting in Heavies, for tossing in front of vehicles such as the Scorpion; boarding them would be a lot easier and it would add an interesting layer of tactics to at least temporarily distracting major threats. I really miss that equipment.Falagard said:I'd like heavies if they'd only have one or two lasers on the map. Maybe even have more rocket launchers or missile pods instead.

The problem is that Gauss Hogs and Scorpion Tanks can't co-exist alongside the other vehicles without requiring the drastic anti-vehicle measures, they just throw everything off. I think everyone just needs to embrace the default loadouts of these maps for ranked team slayer, they work really well and have a level of polish not seen in the heavy variants.StUnNeR H2K said:I do agree with Heavies that it would probably be a little more enjoyable if the number of lasers were reduced. The idea should be to have a big vehicle battle, and not a battle of who can camp the multiple laser spawns better.
I also liked someones idea of making the laser not spawn immediatly...
I'm all for vehicle combat... the vehicles are one of the big parts of Halo multiplayer being different from other multiplayer fps games.
It's alright, I put the controller down and left the room after they jumped up 60 - 30, I hid in the elephant. I wasn't about to play another loosing round of heavies. Like you've done anything more worthwhile than playing multi-flag on Valhalla.
I do not think you should be making fun of anyone who does not enjoy Heavies, as you jump into to the ghaus hog every freaking time. The people who are on foot do not enjoy the mode as much as you might. And yes playing Valhalla does infact make my night. Sandtrap and all its varients are worthless. Heavies makes it even more worthless.Domino Theory said:I think the better issue is the fact that Multi-Flag Valhalla and/or what you and dirtbag play in Halo 3 is what makes your evening.![]()

I honestly don't mind heavies on Valhalla and not just because of my unconditional love for the map. Some of the extra scenery (the shit on the top of the hill) is embarrassingly strewn about but it's my most tolerable heavies map to the point of prefering it over some other maps in SBDomino Theory said:Multi-Flag on Valhalla heavies
