gamevee.com is going down thanks to Bungie's video rendering system...oh well, they had a good run
Gamevee will always have a home because they are free. Bungie Pro carries a (small) annual fee, so there will be demand for a free service. I suspect the Bungie implementation will be worth it, though. If it's fast and allows for better resolutions, etc, it will be used a lot. I wonder what the download features will be. Can we queue up more than one video at a time? What are the download resolutions? Monthy use cap?

Etc.

Looks like EXP/TrueSkill is screwed up again.

We just won a Heavies SB game and didn't gain EXP, but we won a match two games before that and got EXP.

Wackooo.

New updates sound amazing.
Jesus.

Imagine what Halo3 will be like next winter.

They haven't fixed it yet.

I've won like 6 squad battle games and I have 2 squad battle exp. My ranks are doin nothin they should be doing either.

Ohhhh it's part of Bungie Pro? Nevermind then, I thought it was gonna be free. Long live GameVee!!!!

I'll pay for Bungie Pro. IMO it is worth it for the rendering service alone, plus the expanded file share.

Shishka, nice write-up tonight. Very nice.

Yeah, I haven't used Gamevee that much, but I'll probably use this B.net feature just because I spend a lot of time there. I cannot imagine the storage space that's going to be required.

I think it's pretty cool that B.net is almost like a social networking site. The work that Bungie has done to wed the site with Halo 3 is pretty stunning.

Agreed. Fin, request something else.

I just asked my girl friend if we could stop watching TMZ and What Not to Wear. It's a no go...

I should be online later, if she falls asleep.

I wonder if XP will ever catch up. I played DLC BTB the other night, starting with 16 XP. Four wins later, I'm at 18. That was a couple days ago.

A big shout out to Dan Miller, Dax and The Gold Avenger for helping get the Annual achievement. Good fun tonight guys.
Pictures to come soon. =D
But yeah, good fun tonight. We did that in a much shorter amount of time than I thought we would.

I've won and lost dozens of BTB recently and seen my xp rise by 2.=( 46, so close to that 50,

I was hoping to hit at the start of the week too since BTB is my favorite list, but end of the week and still no lovely achievement compliment.

Doesn't look like it:

Unfortunately, EXP earned over the last couple days will not be retroactively rewarded, nor can we adjust TrueSkill for the games played. On the bright side, you can make up lost time by playing this weekend's Double EXP playlist!

Thanks, Microsoft. :\

The 2nd update from the day that was posted (Tuesday) said they didn't know if it would be retroactively granted, so I went ahead and assumed it wouldn't be. It was weird all week though; even on Tuesday and Wednesday when it was totally crap, we would have a couple of games where we would get exp/rank, but then it would stop again.

I didn't see anything other than the first update until now. Should have checked back. Not a huge deal. But I'm on a cold streak tonight and an hour in, only have one XP in DLC. :\

Ugh, I just had the type of game that makes you not want to play for weeks.

Damn! How much does Bungie Pro cost?

Will the render be in 720p? (Highly doubt it :lol)
750 points per year, just under $10. I'm sure we'll get more details soon, but I'd be willing to pay that much annually for a speedy conversion service, especially if it's in decent resolution.

A really crazy feature would be the ability to capture campaign footage of a certain length. So upload a one-hour movie, and specify that minutes 27-32 should be captured. Not really feasible, I'm sure.

I've been playing for two hours, and only have one win all night in BTB. Either quitters or a REALLY shitty team. :lol

This also allows players to run their movies for Machinimas and such. Much easier, that is.

I had the same problems today. Even if my team was winning, people would start quit. It also seemed like I was getting matched-up with some really lopsided teams.

Hmm, GameVee's Grab is down for updates, eh? Could it have anything to do with today's BWU? That'd be awesome if Bungie hooked em up as a hosting partner.

Halo Wars Cinematic - Field Trip to Harvest.

I'll rent just for the story mode and to watch the cinematics.

That was really nice.

You are so negative about anything "Halo" not made by Bungie. I mean, yeah the scene isnt the best cinematic out there, but it "feels" like Halo, and crap, Halo 2 didn't even feel like Halo.

The music wasn't doing anything for me either. It seemed like a cheap knockoff of Marty's music.

I am officially on an island with this Halo War stuff.

I thought that cinematic was awesome. Not exactly sure what you guys expected.

Edit: Looks like godhandiscen is here with me. It is now a party.

The only thing that really dissapointed me was the music. I thought the cutscene looked fine to me, and actually a little promising. If it wasn't a videogame, I'd feel the lines were delivered a little rushed, but nothing jumped out and bugged me.

Menage et tois?

2nd french post in one day, pour la victoire!

I think Ensemble's take on the Halo universe is going to be interesting. There are some throwbacks to Bungie's stylized approach, but the cinematics here, in part because they're considerably darker and in part because they are CGI, really project an interesting light on the universes. The opening sequence above Harvest actually reminded me of the novel. The only thing I question is that they're using these incredibly beautiful pre-rendered cinematics for an RTS game? This is the sort of stuff you'd expect from an action or RPG title, but not an RTS. Either way, I'm pleasantly pleased.

Also, the link between the Forerunner environments and Harvest are becoming much more reasonable given the ties that Contact Harvest establishes and the history of ONI Forerunner-knowledge depicted in Ghosts of Onyx. This should be some cool stuff here. I didn't think I'd buy this game for the story, but I will now. Between this and "Keep it Clean" there's a lot of new and exciting stuff in Halo-ville just around the corner, even though we're only a year out from H3...

Your ticket will be at will call.

I had wished Bungie portrayed the Elites to be more badass, and more mysterious. That ended once Halo 2 came out, though, it felt like. ES has it working. The Arbiter picture above is excellent.

The music wasn't that bad at all, especially if you're hoping for something Marty-redux.

You have to win to get EXP.

:lol :lol

I thought that cut scene was pretty cool. I've got high hopes for this game and the only thing that I can think of that would make me scared is the fact that Ensemble is shutting down after this title.

Btw, regarding that Halo Wars movie...

It didn't quite feel like the BUNGIE Halo stuff. Alot of that probably has to do with the fact that they're all new characters so it doesn't seem familiar. The music didn't sound like Marty stuff, but it was good. The overall quality of the movie was excellent.

@Halo Wars.....

They just semi-confirmed flood....now, playable or not, that will be....interesting.

Wonder if they'd play like zerg :)

EDIT:

Question. Didn't brutes join the covenant AFTER the events of halo....which take place 20 years after this?

Or the fact that Bungie didn't make it.

I think the same could be said about another popular cinematic, the "Starry Night" commercial, which was also made outside of Bungie. It's easily my favorite commercial for any video game, but it can't really be compared to anything in the Halo trilogy from a visual or thematic standpoint, because it's dark, washed out and considerably more melancholy.

Halo's games are much more stylized, vibrant and they have a comical, almost lighthearted element which is likely to be absent from some of the Halo products coming down the road. If Halo Wars' cinematics are any indication and the rumors for "Keep it Clean" being a dark, ODST tactical shooter are true, then we're in for an interesting transition.

Well, those who climb aboard.
