Maybe I don't quit understand the gametype but if the team in the hill doesn't really have anything better to do then to dodge bullets (which on paper does not sound fun), you're going to want to add another barrier to the parameter of the hill because they could double jump to get out.

Its supposed to resemble an old time stoning. The people in the hill are supposed to be defenseless. Each team gets stoned twice.

Thanks though, I didn't think about them jumping on each other to get out maybe I need to boost to two boxes high. They wouldn't get hill time though if they did jump out before getting killed, so they'd essentially be giving themselves the loss.

But overall this will be played in customs and will be played on the honor rule.

I'd expect the games to go by fast and the end results to be like 45 seconds tops in the hill. I have no idea as I haven't tested it with 4v4 yet, don't even know if the spawn system I set up works yet.

I wonder if sandbox is actually going to be set in a desert environment similar to sandtrap.
Guess it would be the easiest way to alter the level geometry as far as elevation changes go with sand ridges and such, but still have them blend easily. They could make the level perimeter similar to how sandtrap does it with a mine field, or something like snowbound even with turrets. You could place the perimeter manually, allowing you to shape the overall body of the level without having to build in anything new into forge.

It was quite a while ago and I'm not even sure I posted it here. I did PM it to Mr. Omlet while he was working on our Bungie Favorites (I guess there was a questionnaire included). Since I'm too lazy to dig for it, I'll repost it instead. Insaniac had a similar list too BTW.

Basic Forge Improvements:
•Snap-to angles, single out an individual axis to rotate about
•History: undo, redo
•Easier to interlock objects. Make it an attribute so that you could click on a placed object and set it to ghost so that it won’t physically interfere with another object while placing it
•An easier way to make objects float
•More Foundry-like maps
•Premade mini-sets

Ambitious:
•Highlight objects and have the ability to copy/paste and mirror
•Scalable objects. Allow the user to scale scenery objects’ height, width, etc.
oWalls that can have a set length and height.
oObjects that can act as floors and have customizable shapes and sizes
oCustomizable curved objects which can be used as hills
•Different skins for scenery objects. Gives maps more variety and creativity.
•Make non-foundry-like maps more customizable in the sense that more of the geometry in place is actually forge objects
•Customizable lighting sources
•Interactive scenery: gates, doors, lightbridges, etc. that can be placed and used
•Sentient life – like the birds, fish, butterflies, infection forms
•Ability to create one’s own soft walls and death barriers
•Scenery like that moves (e.g. conveyer belts)
•Water

Pipe dream:
•AI opponents with customizable spawns and trigger

Not too much geometry to go by, but if the Edge and G3 videos are any indication, it looks like the geometry's color-palette will be a sun-drenched tan and brown, so a desert themed map wouldn't be shocking.

Then again, I would be surprised if Sandbox didn't ship with any pre-existing models or shipped with more than one. The above shot looks like someone set down a few pieces of architecture with Forge and then dropped in. Also, I've been pulling for natural geometry like rocks, crests, berms, dunes, trees and so on, but I'm not sure they'll implement it. I can hope I suppose.

And thanks, Easy. I like the list.

I hope sandbox is what it sounds like. A big forge-able area, giving map makers a lot of room and objects to create unique maps. hence a Sandbox

I just really hope its an outdoor environment more then anything. It would be really neat to see what people could do with forging maps that have vehicle focus.

I'm pretty sure they've already said they couldn't; but as they release more maps the need more pieces of content becomes a bigger and bigger pain. I'm out of space and I only have around 45 maps and 10 gametypes saved. If I want to save or create new maps I'll have to delete my existing ones.

Once Halo 3 has 21 (?) maps people will only be able to save about 2 custom maps/gametypes per map. And when you figure Sandbox in it makes it tough.

You could make a silver account and store extra ones on your xbox that way. Not the most efficient, but it is a possibility. You can also add Bungie Pro to a silver account for more space on Bnet.

Thanks, but while that would allow me to store more on my console, I'd have to switch to a different account, upload the gametypes/maps I wanted to its fileshare, switch back to my main, download it, all the while people are waiting to play in customs. That's as sloppy as sloppy gets.

I know, that's why I said, "Not the most efficient, but it is a possibility." It would be cool if there was an easier way.

On Halloween every game played on a legendary map should either feature the gloomy or black and white filters. These things don't come up often enough. I don't know why they haven't put juicy up there yet. Juicy ghostown looks so freaking good.

If I remember correctly, last Halloween they had a Double EXP Weekend with Zombies. Mmmm...Brains

Hello again, Roger here with an update on the Bungie Pro subscription service we inaugurated a year ago. To recap, Bungie Pro allows subscribers expand their Halo 3 File Share from 6 slots and 25MB of storage to 24 slots and 250MB of storage, to the tune of 750 Spacebucks for the year, which is around 78 cents per month. Halo 3 file sharing has been tremendously popular, with over 53 million pieces of content shared online in the first year alone! That year is up for the first subscribers, which makes this a great time to announce a soon-to-arrive feature that we're going to add to Bungie Pro.

And that new feature is? Render-to-video! At long last, you won't need to have a video capture card to free your saved film from the confines of your Xbox. Integrated right into the Bungie.net file-sharing experience alongside current features like "Copy to My File Share" and "Download to Halo 3" will be "Render to Video" where your short Saved Films or Film Clips (length and quantity to be determined) can come to life as a computer-playable WMV file which can be downloaded to your computer, or seen on Bungie.net alongside other game content like your Screenshots.

We're still finalizing quite a few implementation details and trying to determine at what temperature a server melts into a pool of slag that will drip through the datacenter floor. So stay tuned over the next few weeks as we get those last details sorted out. In the mean time, enjoy the Title Update, and keep that great content on your file shares.

Holy. Fucking. a;sldkfj;asld jf;asldjf;asl jf;aslkjf;a=0w 89qIZcr

Nice write up, Shiska, looking forward to new B.net

One question though, not sure if you can answer it.

If Butube is only available to Bungie pro subscribers....is cost going to go up for said Bungie pro?

Man, another disappointing update. I want info about making the game I'm playing better! Well, at least the bnet stuff sounds cool, I suppose.

I don't believe that's the plan at this time. What you should do is post that question to the news thread linked to the update. Roger himself is eying the thread to answer what questions about the render system that he can.

Nice changes to the playlists. Thanks

This specifically: DLC Big Team
All non DLC maps in this playlist now skip after veto

5. Quitting: Only in moderation
There are plenty of totally valid reasons to quit. For example, if you're on fire. Or, if your mother is on fire. Or, even if your dog is setting your mother on fire. However, these things come with statutes of limitations. For quitting, if you do it so often that we recognize it as bad behavior, you're risking the wrath of the Banhammer.
:lol

Thanks. The changelist is larger on my side (as a bunch of stuff was cleanup over here after the huge September changes), but the changes the end user will see seem pretty minimal, which is too bad.

November will be more like normal. =)

The tweak to the DLC playlist is very nice. Gasps of disappointment are let out when a non-DLC map is vetoed and another one pops up.

Also, thanks for the Prowlers. Mm mmm mmmmm.

DLC Big Team

* All non DLC maps in this playlist now skip after veto

Nice! An ideal situation would have been for all non DLC maps and Heroic maps to skip after a veto... Still, I welcome this change.

Double EXP Weekends (In Order)

* Team Snipers (Legendary Required)
* Rocket Race (Heroic Required)
* Grifball (Heroic Required)
* 3 Ball (Legendary Required)
* Ranked Living Dead (Legendary Required)

Wait... Isn't Icy Treats Fiesta on Cold Storage? :o

We are that much closer to an Avalanche only playlist. mwahaha

I want this in Halo:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38617.html

Complete with a community hopper so that we can play maps without having to do customs or searching the internet.

I'm prepared to be disappointed by 'Sandbox'. I can't see Bungie letting players make maps so unique that it would take away from sales of DLC maps. Foundry has produced so many cool maps, but we can't play them in anything but customs. I see 'Sandbox' as being:

1)A crazy flexible map maker that will allow players to create really unique maps, and classic remakes. But you'll only be able to play them in customs.

2)Or a limited map maker that will contribute to a community hopper full of user-created maps.

If one of these things happens I'll be disappointed, but if both are true I'll be happier than a pig in shit.

Like my Foundry example, there are so many Halo CE and Halo 2 remakes. Why not a weekend playlist with Foundry'd classics?

bungie pro: sold!

I really just want info about the stuff that will affect me when I'm actually playing the game, not the stuff that might be a cool add on when I'm not actually playing the game but when I'm just dicking around and thinking about playing the game.

And that new feature is? Render-to-video!

A big LOL at everyone who said I was out-of-line requesting this like 6 months ago.

7. Booters, standbyers: You're next.
You know that warning that's been in Matchmaking for some time? The one that says "Cheating is being autodetected?" It wasn't kidding. We've got your behaviors down, too. If you wish to continue playing Halo online, I suggest you knock off the crap. The punishment coming your way is far more severe than what boosters are getting.

This made me smile as I was reading it. It's really the first time Bungie admitting that these specific issues exist. I'd like to hear more about the 'reality' of network manipulation during Halo 3.

@ shiska, good update!

I must admit, I always thought that to be a feature we'd never really see for this game.
Seemed like a likely progression for their next game though... just surprised they were able to reverse engineer it and launch it a full year from release.

Très cool
