As I've stated this before, I think this would be an incredibly bad choice in determining how we introduce Halo to a much, much larger world. I'm a huge fan of contemporary film and an even bigger fan of Halo, so for me, the collision of the two
HAS to be done right or not at all. Beattie might be a great guy and a serious Halo fan, but this isn't the direction the franchise's filmic unveiling should have.
This is a pretty big deal to me. So big, in fact, that I've just finished about 35,000 words as part of an article on the matter. The 35,000 words isn't the article (which will be significantly less) either...it's just an ancillary. But some of you I talked to at PAX may have already figured out what it is. If there's a way to make a Halo film, it needs to start and begin with the common understanding that the core fiction, the Halo trilogy, is what should matter the most.
