Dual wielding SMGs: Halo's guiltiest and more satisfying pleasure.

ooooooooooooooohhh yes

Except when you realize, "Shit, I really need to nade/melee!"

That's when the Dual-SMG's seem instantly like a fucking terrible idea. The only dual combo I ever use is Plasma Pistol + SMG/Plasma Rifle.

Nice. I didn't think the Waffle utility belt came standard with Mark VI armor.

Looks like I was wrong...and why does the helmet look amazingly like a mullet?

Man, I forgot how incredibly slow this game is in comparison to COD4.

Crazy.

Thank you for your input, wise and venerable master. May you bless its use as we sacrifice it to quell the impending storm of bickering and discontent.

In other news, some games, we were gaining exp...some we were'nt. Odd, that.

No more double beatdowns? I mash B. My guy hits him. I hear my guy hit him. And I die. :(

Most likely lag.

Many a time have I "hit first," heard the thwack, then died from the opponent's melee.

I don't know much about whats going on but cant Xbox Live service just go back to their last working setup and I don't know figure out what the hell is wrong in a test environment?

How is this any different than when you don't take a break? :D

Hehe, no doubt.

Is Hardcore mode relatively new? I like the idea but I don't understand the Headshots only approach.

That's SWAT; no shields , headshots for quick kills but nades, melees, and body shots can still take someone down.

The other hardcore playlist is MLG. Based off of official competitive Halo gametypes.

And don't listen to Metroid

Lol, it wasn't a dig, dude, don't worry.

Just trying to alleviate the tension building up in the thread.

And blood...I've never gotten drunk. Ever.

I too haven't played in a week. Probably the longest I've gone without popping in for a single match while my 360's been readily available. A testament to how much of a Halo addict I've been.

Sadly my skills may have slumped to Ram-like levels; but this weekend we should have glorious custom games!

Bumper-Jumper solves many problems.

...but adds a new one with the B button.

Customs? Me want.

As in a side note, I had such a shitty time last night in Halo. Getting dropped out of the lobby, disconnecting from Xbox Live, and in matchmaking. Ugh, and I don't have that problem with other games. Aleast I managed to get into a couple of games lag-free at the end.

Is this a problem with Halo specifically, or is it just me?

I started the transition to Bumper Jumper a few weeks ago before my 360 died. Once I got it back I finished. I really like to be able to melee and jump without taking my thumb off of the right analog stick.

I rather see more Rockets than Lasers in maps like Valhalla and Sandtrap, too.

The bigger maps that revolve around the vehicles, there should be more missle pods and rockets, and fewer lasers.

Don't forget the hammers and bubble shields too!!! I love destroying vehicles with hammers. It's even more satisfying when the other team is in the vehicle too.

Not really. How often are you going to pick up a weapon in the middle of a battle? Not that often.

Thought I would post this here...

Confirming rumors from as far back as April (and revisited in August), Gears of War film scribe Stuart Beattie has written a new script for a Halo adaptation. "The Halo movie in its initial incarnation is dead. No one is pursuing it any more," said Beattie in an interview with GameDaily. Adding credibility to August's rumored concept art, the script is going to serve as a prequel to the original Halo: Combat Involved and be based on the The Fall of Reach novel, with Beattie "ending the movie where the first game begins."

As to the fate of this adaptation, Beattie said they are "in discussions with Microsoft to see if we can get this made." Don't get your hopes too high just yet.
As I've stated this before, I think this would be an incredibly bad choice in determining how we introduce Halo to a much, much larger world. I'm a huge fan of contemporary film and an even bigger fan of Halo, so for me, the collision of the two HAS to be done right or not at all. Beattie might be a great guy and a serious Halo fan, but this isn't the direction the franchise's filmic unveiling should have.

This is a pretty big deal to me. So big, in fact, that I've just finished about 35,000 words as part of an article on the matter. The 35,000 words isn't the article (which will be significantly less) either...it's just an ancillary. But some of you I talked to at PAX may have already figured out what it is. If there's a way to make a Halo film, it needs to start and begin with the common understanding that the core fiction, the Halo trilogy, is what should matter the most.

Here we go again. :lol Anyway, I'm still for a "Fall of Reach" movie.

I WANT to see the battle of Sigma Octanus IV!

I'm in total agreement with you on this one.
I think they need to start the franchise with a Halo, Combat Evolved-like story (if not exact retelling).
I'd be perfectly ok if they changed somethings about the story to structure it better for film (hopefully a 2.5-3 hour epic start of a trilogy) or just to make the experience a little fresher for the gamers who've already gone through it... just nothing major.
I don't see why anyone tells a prequel first either, you need to hook the un-introduced with the main story line first. It would be like starting star wars at episode 1 (bad movies aside, just think about how little you would understand with Palpatine, or Anakin, etc.)

Look forward to reading your next 35,000 words on that matter.

Aside from the fact that as Halo fans I'm sure all of us want to see the fiction treated by the highest level of respect possible, a movie based on Fall of Reach is a bad idea. A Halo movie has to have a Halo in it or you've already lost half of the movie's potential mass audience. And if they really want to be serious about it making it a premiere cinematic experience, the script has to consist of a well-crafted narrative that will be compelling to non-Halo fans and Halo fans alike.

Edit: I meant that the Installation needs to be a primary focus of the plot and not show up in the last 15 minutes of the film.

Maybe eazy and juices should do a 1 on 1 halo session, winner takes all and gets bragging rights. Just a thought, it might settle this great argument they've been having.

I would watch this.

As I mentioned in another thread or two, I'm thinking about picking up all 3 Halo games later and running through the SP over the next couple weeks, having never played them before (outside of a little Halo 1 MP many years ago).

About how long is each game?

Depends on how well experienced you are with FPS games, but 10 hours is pretty average amount for each game.

Also, if your a decent FPS player then play all halo games on the heroic difficulty. tis the way halo is meant to be played (especially halo 3!)

Bumper jumper being the best is simply not true.

If you can play southpaw, southpaw claw beats every other configuration. You never have to remove your thumbs from the sticks.

And since aiming is done with the left hand, having your index finger on the buttons does not affect aim.

And be sure to play some of it with a friend in coop.
Maybe not for your first run though, depending on how anal you are about the story, as soaking up all the in-game chatter can be difficult with a buddy yapping.

It took me about two weeks to get used to bumper jumper over green thumb. It was worth all that humiliation, imo.

I started campaign again on Legendary solo to get used to it. The only thing that I had to still get used too once I was in MM with it was melee since I don't do too much of that in campaign.

I'd also recommend that you hold any and all questions you have until you've gone through the entire lot. Otherwise, someone here might spoil you on something and with the trilogy, there's a lot that you can be spoiled with. Once you've played through them, come back here so we can talk about your take on it.
