Maybe for time reasons. I don't know what the time difference is between animating in-game assets and simply drawing them out. I can say that the visuals produced in this trailer look like they could be easily produced in the Halo 3 engine.

It looked great.
 
The whole things looks after-effects-y. High res hand painted art animated in 3d space... there's nothing that's actually 3d in that entire spot. While I'm super excited about the expansion, and I liked the tease, I'm disappointed it wasn't a glimpse of the game. Haven't all bungie-made teases been in-engine, or work-in-progress-engine deals?

Oh well, I just hope we don't have to wait too much longer for more details.

I'd go so far as to say the Halo 3 engine could produce images much better looking than the teaser. The really interesting thing to see will be whether the game is re-using the same assets (it's an expansion, so that's what I'm assuming) or whether there's been a tweak to the look, rendering, art, or gameplay perspective.

This is one of those gametypes that deserves a facepalm. I'll give my complete Squad Battle impressions soon.
 
To be honest, I love Squad Battle, look forward to playing it every night, but it does have some game types that should not be in a ranked environment. Valhalla Heavies looks like someone just took a monitor in there and started randomly dropping cover & fusion coils all over the place. :lol Anyone had The Pit pop up? It would work...1 Flag on HG would be fun, I even think Isolation and Construct work as long as the teams are even.
 
Anyone else find it interesting that Major Nelson hasn't posted about this announcement yet? Seems like it would have been big news for that page.
 
I've mostly been playing DLC big team which surprisingly, has been pretty much lag free, also, anyone else play sprockets yet. I did on sand tarp and I'll just say that I've played better game types.
 
i just got home from work. watched the video and got caught up on the thread and
i think people need to check their expectations

i think that you are going to play as the arbiter
i mean its a halo 3 expansion, i don't think they'll change the game play
and before you say it was a drop pod it has to be odst, chief used one why couldn't the abitor

plus its better to exceed expectations than to be disappointed

Does anyone really think they would have put "Prepare to DROP" if it wasn't going to be about ODSTs?

Why do you think that? It's set in a human city, and for all we know, it's set during the events of Halo 2, in which the Arbiter was still serving the Prophets.

Yeah, I don't see it being arbiter. But I don't think I can rule out the possibility of it being one of the Spartans from the Blue team.

Dude, Construct is a terrific map. One of the finest. One of the ones that I'll be demanding a remake of if we get a Halo 4.

I'm kinda hoping for a little bit more of a darker story also, not that there is anything wrong with the original, but I want to see if Bungie can pull it off and make it really intense, frightening, etc.
 
Man after seeing the city streets I thought they truly did upgrade the visuals, but everything was CG. Ahh. =(

Also, please release podcast.

Is there any known reward for getting the achievement, yet? I know it's 0 gamerpoints, but theres rumors going around that there will be something special in return.
