It was an "Interactive Game" with mixtures of storytelling and video game features. Something along those lines, I don't recall. Someone do..... RESEARCH on that.

You guys really believe that marketing PR bullshit.

Mixture of storytelling and game features.... sounds like a game to me.
Just cause Peter Jackson wants to 'revolutionize gaming' (sell tons of copies, get tons of hype) shouldnt allow him to discredit current story telling in games we have now. Especially when you are running a brand new game studio.
Why should we assume they are up to task, they have shown us nothng, as of today they have produced nothing? This is how too human and its hype train bullshit got started.

Way ahead of you. ^^^

Oh and for people who want to hear it again, go to the 9/20/2007 Podcast and listen at 11:27 for clarification.

An interactive game...its a...game I play.

Amazing. Absolutely ground breaking.

LOL what if it's just a bunch of fan-fic made with saved films :lol
That would be hilarious. All this hype, big name like Peter Jackson... that would be too funny.

I'm not being serious, sometimes I get worried by things I read on here. Maybe jostick or kotaku can run my rumor?

I've always assumed it'd be a choose your own adventure movie using a 3d engine. For realz.

So now we know how Gamevee works...Peter Jackson does every grab himself, the ones that take super long to go up are the ones he sets aside for later use in 'Chronicles'!

I think what Peter Jackson meant was that his project was a game (duh) but it combined storytelling and movie aspects, that it would be like an interactive movie.

How is that any different from the halo we have right now?
I'm not singling you out Merg, I know you are just trying to rationalize what little we've got... but if that is all it is, its no different then what tons of developers are doing, with an added air of cockiness and ignorance. I'm guessing its going to be episodic, something no one has done correctly to date (outside of a few attempts by MMO's), maybe the title chronicles alludes to this as well... then again, maybe not. Maybe I'm just trying to rationalize something from the non-information we've got to go on.

The fact that it was announced so long ago, with such big names attached to it, and building from such a major franchise.. people are naturally going to want to know what's going on with it. We're starting to hit that point in time where so much time has passed, if we don't hear something soon.. I'd expect to see it get re-defined as something else or we'll never hear from it again.

I just can't help but feel I am going to be majorly disapointed by whatever this project turns out to be.

My first thought was to tell PJ to go play Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy. He was saying how it was something that had never been done before and was unique - and if it's really just a game that mixes storytelling and movie aspects, Fahrenheit would be the best example I can think of.

One thing you can always count on with Jackson is huge scope and awesome fights. I don't think this game will be a shooter, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing huge expansive vistas, and awesome cutscenes with crazy battles. If we see anything at all, of course.

Is it possible the number of IPs related to Halo could actually be four?

You have Halo Wars, The Halo Chronicles, the unannounced Halo project (Don Mattrick) by Bungie, and Halo 4 (Microsoft, Gearbox, etc.).

Maybe not actually Halo 4, but around the events of Halo?
Some guesswork by yours truly:
  • Halo 3: Mythic by Bungie (Fall 2008)
  • Halo Wars by Ensemble (Spring 2009)
  • "The Superintendent Project" by Bungie (Winter 2009)
  • "Halo Chronicles" episodes begin from Microsoft (Spring 2010)
  • A separate Halo game from Microsoft (Winter 2010)
  • A new IP by Bungie (Winter 2010)
  • "Halo 4" by Bungie (Winter 2011, new Xbox console)
amirite?

Hell, I don't know what I'm talking about. Stare at my avatar's tongue.

It's no problem. I am totally aware of the lack of information. There hasn't been any news so far, in fact, I should have asked that damn question in the BWU thread on Bungie.

"What's up with the Peter Jackson's Halo Project?"

Maybe we could have gotten an answer, maybe not. Who knows?

I'm just speculating here on it could really be. It's pointless to talk about it unless we get some more information about it.

I'll have to admit, that's not too bad of an assumption. That has all of the Halo games plus all 3 of Bungie's projects. In a way though it seems a little tightly packed, but that may just be me.

Knowing the little that we do know, yeah this seems about right to me.
Although, you are taking a (small) leap in saying the Superintendent Project is seperate from both Halo 4 and the new IP. For all we know the SI could have been a teaser to either one of those IP's in development. We just don't know enough yet.

Yo, my room is lacking some color and was thinking about getting some posters. Are there any Halo posters that even exist out there?

They had the Halo 3 art ones. The Bungie store is down though.. :\

Never hang video game posters in your house ever. Only allowed to once you're married, and it's in your media room -- or if you worked on the game, and have some comparable story to tell the young lass you drag into your lair.

Maybe MS heldout the Bungie's E3 announcement for this?
This was something made up on the forum of a banned website, which was then written up as article on a different banned website, which xboxfanboy.com picked up. (Those guys are fucking idiots, BTW.)

:p

Well I just got home from wing night with the guys and checked my email. Email from MS about some beta and more NDA, wooh! Gotta love not being able to say anything about stuff.

Why am I posting in this thread?

Well... maybe you guys/gals will understand in a two weeks when the NDA is up.

Hate to throw in the C-c-c-combo-breaker! but why does Luke owe me a steak and four of them at that. I was just checking out my stats on the main site and noticed that weird category at the bottom.

If your team beats the opposing team by more than 20 kills, then you get one of the B.net-only medals, "Steaktacular!"

And for the reference, it's from a Bungie podcast where Luke made a bet he and another staffer could beat two other staffers by 20 kills. The loser buys the other two a steak dinner. (Luke won.)

It became a meme and the b.net team added it as two of the medals that only appear on bungie.net (the other being Linktacular).

You know, during some of our GAF games, dirtbag was talking to me about how he'd like more medals to be added to the game and I think that'd be ridiculously awesome. I'd always thought that when the Bungie folk said there'd be Bungie.net only medals, there'd be a whole row of them, not just two. :(

Here's to hoping for more Bungie.net medals in the future.

Just got done with a day with of driving to and walking on the beach; good stuff.

Anyways, I can see you kids are lost without me so I'll try to save the day. (I hope it's not too late)

Regarding Gamevee:
I posted this a long while back but it seems you've all forgotten.
Gamevee is automated (if that even was really debatable).
Cnet news did a quick article on Gamevee

Cnet said:
GameVee creator and Chief Creative Officer Jason Bradicich wouldn't tell me the specifics of how the Grab system works, but presumably he and his team have found a way to automate the download and playback of these files into equipment with a capture card that's pumping the video to GameVee's servers.

Also, Bungie shouldn't waste their time with a IP they don't own completely and one that will inevitably be tarnished by medriocrity and milking. Start anew, start fresh, start strong.

Got a full night of Halo in last night...first time in a while. Will be playing more often now, still looking for some Team Slayer partners.

You're right of course, I was just guessing based on the statement made previously (I think in an update) of there being three separate projects Bungie had in the oven. At this point, it would seem to me that Halo 4 is a long way off (the third of all of the projects); Bungie's been pretty clear on trying to branch off in separate directions and I doubt Microsoft would risk loosing money by launching multiple Bungie projects so close together.

This makes me feel like Halo 4 is a long way off - plus, I also have a feeling that this is the project that Mattrick was talking about, which he confirmed was not [presumably] the SI project which was not announced at E3 '08, when they had originally planned.

It could be their new IP, this is for certain, but I'm drawing closer to Domino's theory (lol), that its a Halo game possibly dealing with monitors. Can't imagine what type of game it would be or if the whole Superintendent concept is there only to divert us from the game itself, but there are definitely aspects of it which are Halo-ish by nature.
