It would be a cool surprise anniversary release.Dax01 said:If those achievements are indeed real, going by the (in the description) "After 9/25/08" achievement, we should get at least three of those new maps this month.

I really doubt that those achievements were shopped. Whether or not that information was place holder, or even using final names is up for debate.Tashi0106 said:whoa, this whole new map pack thing other than Assembly is all assuming that this Achievement List is real right?
Mr. Vociferousnumbers said:Yeah, I remember this pic from before Halo 3 came out, I asked someone where it was at, they said it was on the Zune (I have the Halo one) and it wasn't :\ The only place I've seen it was on AJ I think.. Someone may have used it as an avatar here as well.

I saw the "achievements" incident go down, and I saw what it took to reach them. It was no accident; at the end of the day, as Bungie and PAX were shutting down for the day, a PAX visitor sat down at a monitor and deliberately started clicking through to reach achievements, taking advantage of the distractions. Bungie employees were cleaning up for the day and had their backs turned, which is the only reason that the achievements were up for as long as they were. As soon as they noticed, they came over and turned off the television. The same PAX visitor who clicked through to view the achievements had also taken some photographs, and asked a Bungie employee if he could post them. The Bungie employee asked this person not to post them, and the person who originally looked at the achievements has, so far, held true to their promise and neither posted nor discussed the achievements.
Where have they been blaming anyone? They gave the OK for the stuff to be put back up on Bungie.net.UltimaPooh said:What a lameo.
I understand that Bungie did want people to see these things, but in the end it's their own fault. To blame the fans for digging this stuff up and posting it is just dumb. If you have stuff to hide, make sure you hide it well.

I wouldnt count on it. MS owns the IP now, so it's entirely possible that they may release some maps on their own... but I have a gut feeling that this is it on bungie made maps.Blueblur1 said:I hope these 6 new maps aren't the end. Even if there's a slow period between this next release and any other after it I'd be happy. Desolation and Tombstone were released nearly two years after the H2 map pack disc and its new 5 maps hit store shelves. I love those maps (and I wish we'd get them in H3).
Any new maps after a year or two would be nothing but a plus in my book.

I loved it in halo 2 also, lazer start or plazma pistal and plazma grenade combo starts...xxjuicesxx said:Yea like Armory or something. It was short lived I believe...

soldat7 said:Both awesome maps for certain gametypes (BM spawns suck though). Some of the best atmospheres of any of the Halo maps as well.
And Sanctuary was a boring. Nowhere near as good as Midship, Ivory Tower, or Lockout. In fact, Desolation, minus the overshields, was a better map (the snipers ruined Sanctuary for me).

Also, he drew an awesome sketch that shows a view from above the map. It really helps those who didn't (and did) play it to get a grasp on its layout.

I don't agree. Valhalla and Avalanche are very good maps, but the other big battle maps do not hold any specific qualities to make them on par with the likes of Headlong, Waterworks, Relic, or Terminal.Halo 2 had great mid-size maps. lol,
Luke(I think?): I guess that means I'm not good enough to be on Instinct.
Walshy: True... though you could be on Final Boss, that's the thing... good enough to be on Final Boss.
Too bad no one took the video of Luke and Shishka destroying Walshy.Kibbles said:Walshy vs Bungie @ PAX Video: http://gameroom.mlgpro.com/view/Pj5WFTkJPFY.html

Well, I disagree, but it will never be settled. I loved - loved - Waterworks and want it back, but Bungie ruled it out.Striker said:So, the maps like Orbital, Heretic, etc. have been confirmed? Orbital sounds like the Moonbase Alpha they spoke of before. I figure a space station level, similar to Elongation...

Last Resort -- I do consider this map perfect for 6 vs. 6, but for 8 vs. 8 it felt a little crammed. Possibly if they played more 1 CTF than Slayer on it in Ranked BTB, it would be a better comparison.
Standoff is a terrible Ranked BTB map. Again, I think it would be excellent for 6 vs. 6 - I suppose we'll find out.

I can't attest for what their specific reasons are for using it, but Assembly has some long lines of sight and the Bungie guys consistently held the upper level walkways rather than dropping below into the map's basin. This tells me that the Magnum would have better overall worth than the MA5C while the player moved atop the walkways. Down below it's a different story.Blueblur1 said:I keep forgetting this but Luke and Shiska kept using Magnums during the Recon matches. Any particular reason why they would do that?
