hey ghal when you met bongie did you say "Hey im ghal" and they be like oh i know you from the internet? i mean if it did it would mean your efame is high and stuff.
Well, when I met up with the other HaloGAFers at PAX everyone was getting ready to head towards the Bungie booth, and Ghaleon was sort of "the guy in charge," telling everyone where we were going and when we were going, and when Ramirez tried to question him he said, "I'm GhaleonEB, you're not, I'm making the decisions, you're not."

Later when we were in line he started cutting ahead of everybody. A few people tried to protest, to which he only said, "Don't you know who the fuck I am, midget?"

Later when we were all planning to go out for pizza and drinks he started berating us and talking about how "While you commoners sit around eating 99 cent pizza and drinking yellow foamy water, I'm going out for a fine dinner with Louis Wu tonight. Enjoy your MSG-headaches tonight."

I didn't see him after that, but I imagine he introduced himself to Bungie in the same egotistical way. I was definitely surprised and disappointed by his behavior, that's for sure. I didn't want to bring it up to him for fear of being yelled at, though.

Now it's that time of the show where we live vicariously through former GAFfer Deepblue!

A Message from Deepblue to YOU!:
PAX 08 was a hell of a lot of fun. Saw a ton of games, met up with Bungie folks, and GAFers (The TJ's, EazyB, Metroid, Dirtbag, BlueBlur, Vociferous). Got to play about 15 rounds on Assembly, and I LOVE the flow and aesthetic. Another point for Dmiller's design awesomeness.

Also I (Basher) would like to thank Deepblue for delivering the exclusive PAX Brimley that I am debuting in this post for the first time outside of PAX:

Also! Warning: this has been a long post.

PAX was a blast.

Pics will be up tomorrow, when I am not dead tired from time zone switching and standing for 9 hours at a time.

PAX will forever live in my heart. It was great.

And this is uncontested: I received one of the greatest autographs from Marty. :lol

I'll post it as soon as Nutter gives me the pic.

EDIT:

Jen Taylor hitting on Ram in his autograph wins IMO :P

Did I miss out on anything sweet today guys? Kinda bummed now that I decided to leave Sunday instead of Monday, man was it a blast though :)

Edit: Ram tried to talk my into having Jen autograph "This cave isn't a natural formation" but with Jerome on the prowl I just when with having her sign "I bet you can't stick it" lol

Nice!

Great pics. My collection is similar (though lower quality, naturally). I scored a copy of Conatact Harvest signed by Joseph Staten inside, and Lorraine McLees on the cover. Easily my favorite piece of swag from the trip. I'd post some pics from the booth, but I always feel like I need people's permission to post them on the interwebz, so I won't.

But.

I wanted to post something that happened when I got home. I gave my daughter the two things I brought her, and after opening one, she situated them on her shelf where her valuables go.

Btw, sorry about the clarity of some of the pictures. Brand new camera so I'm still getting used to it. :(

I'm definitely going to have to make my way out to PAX in the next couple years. Seems like too much fun was had by all you guys.

The sadness from missing out is partially made up for by getting to see a panel with Mike Capps at Dragon-Con, though, which consisted of him talking almost nonstop for an hour about Gears of War 2 and Epic while chugging beer. :lol Serious good times.

Hey guys,

Back at the hotel room for my last night in beautiful mutha fruckin' seattle. If this city had southern california's weather it would probably be the best city in America. The views around here are nothing short of amazing. Architecture downtown was really amazing, saw some modern marvels of design. All around really cool city albeit a little emo. This was my first 'con' of any sort, and I'm not quite sure I was ready for all that this entails. Seriously what the fuck was up with all them dudes in kilts?! Shame - skirts!

Meeting you guys and interacting with bungie (in person) was nothing short of totally surreal.
Bungie, as expected, were categorically approachable, just a bunch of regular guys(/gals) with some real passion for what they do. DOPE!

Still cracks me up to think about meeting all you guys.... this thread will never be the same for me again, and that's a good thing.

Dirt - out!

Yeah, then we would have had even teams for 2vs2! What like 1 halo nerd wasnt enough, she needed a full dose of 3 halo nerds?

Ghal, was that Superintendant shirt for sale? I don't remember seeing it, but maybe I just missed it....

Also, more of the prints.

Warning: Less than stellar digital camera pics.

This first one is my personal fave.

Hell, would've been better than ordering those $30 Adult movies about "19 and innocent", "Double Penetration", and so on.
As fucking tempted as I was to order those and put it on Dirtbag's tab right when I bailed for the airport

What are the team arrangements for the Recon Challenge? From some of the stories and videos I've seen, it looks like your teammate is chosen at random. From that YouTube video posted earlier, it looks like the guy was matched up with a 12 year-old scrub :lol .

Nope, almost everyone was a pair waiting together to play us.

Awe Damn, Who beat them? :O

Looks like we needed the Blood and NutterButter of Team Jesus to Win. :p

Random comments posted from the DFW airport as I await my connecting flight:

None of us could hear it, but Jay (Weinland) assured me that the audio for the structure in the Assembly skybox is as epic as the visuals. He spent two weeks building it.

Whoever the guy on the B.net forums was that said that RvB's animated series starts soon was utterly wrong. The piece they showed at pax was a test - they're still talking to people about it. I agree with the general feeling that Microsoft would be daft to say no to it - but stranger things have happened. They're hopeful.

And fuck all of you in the irc channel for the old man comments. I'm not an old man, I just play one in real life.
:D

It was a blast meeting all the GAFfers that were there - I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time with some of you. I was sort of disappointed Eazy doesn't wear Flight in real life.

Damn, I'm tired.

Man, looks like you guys had a blast over there - nice!

Funny how none of you guys look like what I'd picture at all though! :lol

If I lived in the US I would have definitely been there, oh well...

And my goodness, Assembly looks epic - did Bungie give a window of when to expect it?

Ummm... Hostile did that, guys. :lol

MEGA edit: PAX was so WORTH it. I'm $900 poorer but I've got memories that will last a life time. I hope the my twitter posts were fun to read and helped you guys at home get in on what was going on. Honestly, I couldn't updated as often as I would have liked because of the poor signal I had in the Exhibition Hall. And sometimes the twitter app would crash on me.

There was so much to do. I attended both the 1up Yours show and Giant Bomb panel, met crew from both sites and even hung out with them. In one day I did so much and learned so much about the games industry from a new friend.

Meeting all the GAF guys was great. Did Cocop mention how I easily guessed who was who when I met up with the initial crew (Cocop, Ghaleon, EazyB and Voc)? Well, I did kinda. Some of you guys look nothing like I had pictured and others look exactly like I pictured (well, two of you to be honest). Claude was great to hang out with. I never ever imagine I would meet Mr. Louis Wu himself.

And winning 8 matches of FFA on Assembly on Sunday was sweet. I had great conversations with Vic DeLeon, Joseph Staten and Jay Weiland. Shiska was really nice and I was excited to meet him but then there was Luke. Man, Luke likes to talk some trash. But hey, I'm a good sport.

I know you gave me the finger when I left and turned away, Luke.

Its all good. :lol

Hostile and I have to put our photo collections together. As soon as I have them all, I'll post some notable ones and link to the entire collection.

Best of all, PAX really set my love for Halo on fire once again. I loved absolutely every single match of Assembly and I'm ready to get my 50 in Lone Wolves (finally).

I haven't slept since Saturday night (my flight left Sunday 9:25pm pacific and arrived this morning at 6:30pm eastern). But I'm still wide awake.

The number of extraneous bumps, limps, indentations, hollows, nooks, crannies, niches, and extrusions on Blackout is absurd. Playing MLG just now I was running toward S2 from top mid and tried to skip a grenade across the surface in front of me to drop into the corridor leading from under glass to S1. The grenade nestled neatly against a completely random and unnecessary lip and took my shield down. I died a few seconds later.

Looks like you guys didn't have fun. I am not jealous at all, that's for sure. ;)

Yeah, I was plaing on Blackout last night, threw several grenades that hit the ground and bounced straight up. Very frustrating.

You were one of two people to do that, somehow. I think Eazy was the other one. I was easy to pick since at the time I was the oldest dude there (Grandpa Wu hadn't yet arrived), but still. Amazing.

Another highlight: watching Eazy slowly infect all of the Assembly stations with pink Flight helmets. At one point the game fired up and all but one or two stations had pink Elites with that damn helmet on it. It was like the Flood infect everything in sight, but somehow more frightening. :lol
