I must be the only guy who's figured out how the Needler works.

*shrug*

No, I'm a needle pro.

Its the ultimate ambush weapon IMO (Second best to the rocket launcher).
If someone isn't looking at you, I switch to it and stream them, rather then wasting a grenade all the time.

Also in a head on fight, you need to get a needle lock, then sideways strafe opposite the direction of the stream so that hte needles hook around and are much harder to dodge.

I'll have to give that a shot.

But yes, Standoff spawns are some of the worst in the game, Bungie needs to do something about them.

I have almost no issue with spawns on Standoff. I almost always spawn in one of the bases safe and sound. Now take High Ground and Foundry for instance...another story entirely.

And to all the Needler haters, the weapon rocks. Third time's a charm for that weapon and it was long overdue.

And finally explained in the Halo 3 cinematic commentary, for good measure.

How I wish that story line had been used.
Oh I remember now:lol When Miranda betrays the Chief...
Yeah, I wish they would have gone in that direction.

lollerchevy.

Tell me how many bullets it takes to make someone explode from the Needler. :D

Halo 2 has my favorite story of any game, ever. The characters introduced and developed, the degree to which the Halo universe was expanded. Bungie pulled off some very difficult and ballsy story telling elegantly. Too bad about the final arc being cut off, but what's there is extraordinary.

You may say that DAX, but ironically the story in 2 is way better than what is foundthe 3rd game (halo 3: the game).
I agree that Halo 2 had the best story (and it was good), but I am talking about levels/environments, etc, stuff like that. What Bungie demoed at E3 2003 (?) was awesome and I wish I could have played it.

Haven't played BioShock, have you?

Yeah I think the needler gets a little too much hate. It isn't like it's the Halo 2 Plasma Pistol or anything. :D

I like H3s story more than H2s. I think the content of the story is ok, but the way it is told isn't too impressive. MGS4s story is told to the player in a much better way, more entertaining.

Played through it twice. Once on Normal, once on Hard.

I didn't care for the story in that game. But let's not derail the thread, eh?
wat. That's an insult to video-game storytelling. BioShock's story shits all over Halo 2's.

The expansion of the overall story was excellent. It's a shame that the game failed to capture the sense of wonder Halo:CE had, and occasionally conveyed the story clunkily.

I wouldn't call it my favorite story in any game ever, however. There are many games that have better stories in my opinion, and several shooters with better stories as well.

I'm always careful to use "favorite" instead of "best". It's utter opinion shaped by the games I've played, the kinds of stories I like and my own life experiences. (Halo 2 is roughly tied with Panzer Dragoon Saga, FWIW.)

That new avatar of yours...

I say yes.

Pluck this little flower and take it, delay not! I fear lest it
droop and drop into the dust.

I may not find a place in thy garland, but honour it with a touch of
pain from thy hand and pluck it. I fear lest the day end before I am
aware, and the time of offering go by.

Though its colour be not deep and its smell be faint, use this flower
in thy service and pluck it while there is time.

I quite like the Security and Rogue helmets. And I used to roll with Scout chest and shoulders a lot before the days of Recon. But it's hard to go back to things of lesser beauty.

I just reached level 25 in MLG after a 50-49 win. What was once a passing curiosity is now my favourite competitive playlist I think.

Bioshock's story was the only redeeming thing about it.

Fuck that game.

Pretty sure Ghaleon said to not derail the thread with Bioshock talk, twice.

English, motherfucker? :P

So about the needler, what sometimes upsets me is that when I get into a 1v1 with someone who is unloading his Needler on me, on my end, it doesn't seem as though the needles are attaching to me, so I continue my fight against him, but at an instant, I blow up.

Those moments confuse me A LOT, but all in all, I <3 the new Needler. Scares me everytime; whether I'm receiving or giving. :lol

Just read the Bungie Blog, looks like the fileshare will be undergoing maintenance tomorrow early morning.

http://www.bungie.net/News/Blog.aspx?mode=news#cid15247

Thursday night (PDT, tomorrow) we'll be doing some upgrades in the datacenter where the file share runs, and it will be unavailable for a short time.

This means that uploading and downloading of shared files and screenshots will be offline for a while, and postgame stats from during the maintenance will show up after we're done.

in b4 crazy off-base speculation

File Share upgrades? Could this have something to do with the upcoming "major changes to the online experience?" Perhaps the addition of campaign assets to MP maps requires a change in how the File Shares currently work... Or maybe the The Wall map requires some changes since it's going to allow entire maps to be made from scratch?

in after crazy off-base speculation

Hehe, never really thought of that. :O

I'm going to keep telling myself "Cocop doesn't know what he's talking about" to keep me calm. :D

Probably the most interesting bit of dialogue spoken by the Gravemind is the following:
"Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved, and you imposed."

Is he speaking metaphorically or literally?

I love the Gravemind's dialogue...

I'm sure all he is saying there is that he can't be defeated, only slowed. It'd be practically impossible to destroy every Flood spore in existence, and as long as one remains, then so does he. And, from his point of view, he's in the right - he's the next evolutionary step, as he told Mendicant Bias, so slowing his expansion is wrong, which is why he says he "never deserved" that punishment.

Never looked at it that way...

I remember when watching the Halo 2 cutscenes with commentary on, in the H3 Legendary bonus disc, and one of the guys said that Jason Jones had required two sentences of dialogue for the game and one of them (I am not sure if it was both) was to be spoken by the Gravemind and it was: "I am a monument to all your sins."

So awesome.:lol

Halo 3 fileshare maintenance
Thursday night (PDT, tomorrow) we'll be doing some upgrades in the datacenter where the file share runs, and it will be unavailable for a short time.

Something tells me this is not just regular maintenance.. Wonder what they're doing.
