So...what about the rank you have now?

All the work I've done in to get where I'm at will be for nothing?

:l

Your highest Rank I.e. say, a 36 in team slayer, will translate to your overall service record rank, a Commander. Bars are disappearing....I think.

Meanwhile, each individual playlist will have its own ranking, i.e. major in doubles, captain in objective, etc.....

No, the ranks you already have (the number ranks for each playlist, and the military rank) will still be there.

It was revealed in this Bungie Weekly Update, it might clear some things up for you.

So I was looking at a party of players and when I went into player detail screen you can shift between players with R and L Bumper and I noticed the White Text that says Brig Grad 2 and so forth is Brighter for some players than others?

Does this have any significance?

I was looking at Ramirez party and everyone was Bright White but Nutter was just a bit noticeably darker White.

It is a top secret indicator of how close you are to reaching your next bar.

Bungie has been laughing at the "I wanna see how close I am to a level up on screen" whiners since launch.

Ha well then Ramirez and Capt Blood are closer to their 51 than Nutter is

....facepalm.

Think about it.

Think about it real hard.

Now ask yourself the question and see what you think.

Yea, no one melees or uses grenades when it's BR starts, lulz.

Um, did I say people didn't use melee or grenades with the BR? No. Did I say people use melee and grenades more so with the AR than the BR? Yes.

the disgruntled gamer said:
Firstly, I would argue that the grenades are severely under-used (by most people) when using an AR, just as melees are under-used by people using BRs. Secondly, just because the three golden aspects are being used doesn't mean there's not room for improvement.
Okay? All I'm saying is that Halo is best played with AR starts.

Personally if it was up to me, players would spawn with a cotton bud, a piece of string and a tampon. It would force players into the golden tripod of 'macgyver' which is: Bullshit, Bullshit and more bullshit.

Are you serious?

I always wondered why they took out the ability to see your status in a particular level on bungie.net.

I never even noticed what you're talking about...unless you're joking.

It's like Groundhog Day up in this bitch.

We really need something to talk about. The BWUs of late have been.. somewhat lacking.

All this BR vs AR talk is making me want to play some Halo, so I guess at least something good has come out of it.

O mah jeezus I never said anything to the contrary.

All I was ever asking for was a damage tweak to the AR. I never said anything about BR starts.

Hey guys, what's up?

I don't often post in this thread too often (though I do pop my head in), but I'd like to ask two questions.

1) Is anyone willing to play through Legendary on Live with me?

2) I'm considering starting a comic using the game to tell the story. Would anyone be willing to participate in shooting sessions?

Here's some stuff I've done already:

Thanks in advance!

There's nothing wrong with the AR; it already takes a full clip to kill someone. Any less and the weapon would be useless over the SMG.

So we're back to BR vs. AR again? Gee Zuhs.

Fiesta starts all the time, plz.

Does anyone know of a really good and detailed stats program?

http://halo3.junk.ws/

I use it. It has an assload of every kind of stat that you would ever want.

WOAH WOAH WOAH, hold on there. The SMG is the most underrated weapon in the game. I <3 the H3 SMG.

It takes much less than a full clip to kill someone, and it takes less than half a clip and a melee to kill someone. I think that it's far too easy to mindlessly charge into situations with the AR and be succesful, and that goes against what Halo gameplay is about.

But if you think it's under-powered (or just right), and I think it's over-powered, I doubt we'll change each other's minds, so I'll leave it at that.

The thing about the AR is that sometimes the damage is so random. Many times, I'll run into some stupid elite using an AR who puts maybe 3 bullets into me, melees and gets the kill. Other times, I'll put 3/4 of a clip into someone, melee, and they'll be fine. Maybe this is attributed to lag more times than not, but something needs to be done.

I'll agree that the AR is quite overpowered (is there really a reason that 3 headshots from a BR + melee should be outdone by 4 AR bullets + melee?), and I hope that the issue is addressed in AU2.

To your first...yes I am. I am out this week on vacation, but I have been chomping at the bit to play some more campaign. I could get a level in tonight/tomorrow, but Wednesday - Sunday I will be without xbox ;)

Um, an AR bullet does more damage than a BR bullet.

I hardly ever "mindlessly charge into situations with the AR." With the AR, Halo 3's gameplay is automatically better than Halo 2's.

I think it's just right.

That doesn't even come close to answering anything that I asked in that post.

Yes, one (1) AR bullet does more damage than a BR bullet. But why should four (4) AR bullets and a melee kill someone more often than twelve (12) BR bullets and a melee? Am I honestly supposed to believe that 4 of these AR bullets sprayed all over a player's body should cause more damage than 12 fired at a player's head? That makes no sense.

And SMG/Sniper combo > ALL

I've never encountered a situation in which that has happened.

And SMG/Sniper combo > ALL

I'd be willing to bet that at least 75% of your melee kills are finishing someone off after a short spray from the AR.
It's probably more like 50, but either way, it doesn't matter. I have fun beating someone down with the AR.:D

The AR is a little overpowered when it comes to close combat. Not in the sense that it delivers a huge amount of damage but that one doesn't have to work hard for a kill with it, just spray and pray. The Halo 3 sandbox has enough close-range weapons: SMG, Brute Shot, Spiker, Plasma Rifle, Shotty, Sword, Hammer, and the mauler...

Simply tweaking the damage down a little bit would help balance those close combat situations but would make AR starts even more miserable and broken because they're pretty useless as it stands from mid-long range. What I'd like to see happen is close the reticle down a bit (making it more accurate) and then reduce the damage. It'd be more balanced close-range, more useless at longer distances, and require more skill to get a kill with.

Jeez, you must quit out of a ton of games. 1965 matchmade games and only 776 XP? And you're not bad or anything. Woah.

Naughty Dax. For shame
There's your answer, Backflip. I mostly quit out of sniper games, so that is why it's so high.

:lol @ Warthog gunner being your top weapon in Social.

Social is only there to fulfill my satanistic need to destroy peoples shields with my warthog turret. Plus I love Big Team Social. Just started playing it the past few days, so many memorable moments in each match.

And i would like to side with the "i love BR camp". Personally i find the AR a cheap version of the SMG, except with 10% more range but 50% less viceral fun. Also im finding a distinct lack of spikers being used. In the Beta they were all the rage.

Im going to add GAF Halo 3 tonight, maybe I can scam my way into some GAF matches in 2012.
