Oh, I see what you are saying. I wonder how Skate tackles it though. I would imagine the code is what's being uploaded to EA and some back end system is doing all the rendering outside of teh 360 environment. Would be much easier that way. Code gets exported from 360 and loaded onto a much more powerful hardware platform running the game engine where it is then captured and uploaded automatically.

Nope, it's rendered by the game. It makes way more sense to do it this way - why dedicate servers when the client can do it itself. Also you can see it being done - when you save and upload the film it plays the film back in what appears to be slow motion as it captures individual frames, then it takes the result and encodes it and uploads it to EA's server.

The difference between Skate and Halo is that Skate has a certain time limit for saved films which keeps the size down.

Ah, the last bit coupled with a resolution reduction is the difference. Thanks for the knowledge, dude. You are smart.

No problem. I've implemented this solution before in 3D software I've worked on when we needed to get high resolution video (higher than a capture card supports) while retaining what appears to be a solid framerate.

It's the same trick some game companies use when creating trailers and they say the video is created "in-engine" (but fail to mention that it's not realtime).

hey guys, i got my 360 coming tomorrow along with a copy of Halo 3, so if anyone fancies adding me for a game, my (reserved) gamertag will be Goonyboy. thanks.

First time playing Halo 3? Give us your overall impressions of Campaign, MP, etc. :)

Have you played the H3 campaign at a friends house or something?

Nah, i used to have a 360 months ago, but sold it to buy a Wii. Worst mistake ive ever done in my (gaming) life. I did have Halo 3 and was pretty decent at MP, but after months and months of playing CoD4 on my PS3, it make take some time to get back into the groove i think :lol

Nice. As long as Gamevee is up, I think can put my services on hold. If they crash and burn again, I think I can get something lined up.

I wonder if they've developed an automated way of doing it. That'd be cool.
Naw, seems like they're pushin all the vids manually. I imagine there's a couple Urks on the other side of the computer, 360s at the ready, slaving away with their capture cards.

Just tried uploading a clip to gamevee, we'll see how it works.

On a side note, I'm leaving for my two day drive up north the day after tomorrow. Also, when I get there, I don't know where I will be able to hook up my 360.

So, looks like I will be out of gaming for 2-3 weeks. Ugh. This is going to be tough.

Not the right thread, and from HBO, but seriously guys.

(If you really ARE dyslexic, I apologize; I transpose numbers like that all the time.)

it was the si. I've seen it 3 times, about 25-45 seconds after loading my fileshare

edit: 60-70 seconds this time

edit2: and again. Nothing in the bungie forums that I see.

Editdunce: And, I'm lttp I guess

Maybe we should all post links to our GameVee videos in the Online thread? That should give the Online thread new life and not clutter this thread with videos. :P
