I played 2 vs. 3 in Cold Storage (our third got 'dropped'). Anyways, fun map, and there's a lot of movement. Shotgun is the most key weapon, I think.

Assault Rifle is a better starting tool to begin the map as well. The BR just removes their shield so you can get a friendly grenade to finish it out.

Still, I think there should be less Team Slayer BR games and more Team Rifles. It makes sense like that, anyways.

Sorry about leaving guys, I had some other stuff I had to do. Looks like another mic has bitten the dust. *sigh* Fun games though, hopefully when I get another mic they'll be even better.

AND, FUCK, I DON'T ALWAYS QUIT.

cold storage was very cool in the FFA playlist. Came in second on my first game :(

I posted in the mp thread, but that thing is dead as hell. Customs tonight?

Edit: Actually, asap? Boring as hell playing with randoms. They hurt my ears with the high pitched noises

3. I don't recall me playing a game of juggernaut recently.

Edit: Yeah, are you just trying to fit in or something?
Sounds like somebody we know...

Well guys, today, on Bungie Day, I went 9-0 in team doubles. AND GOT MY LEVEL 30! I'M A MAJOR!

This is an ironic statement, but yeah, that guy's some random moron who comes in here from time to time and posts stupid shit. best to I-G-N-O-R-E.

Cold storage is nearly my favorite Halo 3 map. I love the unobstructed combat!

The teleports are the biggest miss-calculation. I really dislike the ability to face in different directions when entering / exiting teleports.

You know I don't think I'll never figure out where this came from.

I mean shit, I have less EXP penalties than you do.

-14 vs. -23

But, meh, whatever. On a different note, I got my Brigadier today! In a GAF game, no less.

If there weren't teleporters, wouldn't there be a bunch of dead ends? The whole map would have to change.

I missed you, homie. Where you been? And what happened to Desmond-Marty?

You dropped out of a few H2 matches like a year ago. I'm not sure why you keep bringing it up. You're really beating a dead horse at this point.
Numbers was the one who initially brought it up during tonight's game, and I was just wondering why that still continues to come up. But alas, let us change the topic.

I think I kinda got tired of Halo for a bit, and that, along with the release of GTA and finals, really cut down my gaming time.

As for Desmond O'Donnel- he will be back come football season. Muse will have to take the reigns for now. :lol

I seem to remember you dropping from one game Spud and I were playing, we got our asses kicked, I blamed you, I spread rumors that you were a big-time quitter, and over time silly yet oft-repeated joke became truth. Well, I'm glad we have you back, pal.

Well, I played several matches on Cold Storage (love the playlist btw, another addition to the list of things to thank Bungie for), and I really really like it. It's a really nice looking map, it offers some of the most intense cqc I've seen since H2, it makes me feel like I'm in control of my grenades again, and it didn't cost me a dime. I'm really happy with it. And it's certainly not half-assed either, the map has a lot of nice little touches, like the monitor closely following the action. Good show, Bungie.

I will s*** bricks if the map is exactly as you say it is. I'm looking forward to popping H3 back in the disk drive now.

Not the fact that they exist. I love them in the map.. just that you can't go through a teleport backwards and face the opposite direction like old times.

I also wish going through the "Puke Room" teleporter faced you towards the needler / jump into camo room by default.

:lol Oh, I hope, hope, hope that Friday will come when I read that sentence. I played BTB today and had five guys on my team drop. 3v8: not fun.

He's quit about 17.8% of his games. :o Dax, why? By comparison, I'm at 4.2%, Ram is at 1.3%, Ghal is at 7.9%, Urk is at 0.2%, Luke is at 0.9%.... so yeah, everyone quits (shit happens)... but not that much.

I'm quoting this because it's true, as they say. The comparison pics on b.net really hammer it home, but Bungie doesn't do stuff - even "ports" - half-assed. The visual look and fidelity are top notch. I was showing the map to my kid in Forge and she asked if I could fly up the crevice that runs way up high in one room (ridged, bright light coming down and frozen mist). And guess what - as a Monitor, you can fly all the way up there. And it's all detailed, every nook and cranny. Watching the frozen mist float down was mesmerizing.

I did one match before joining some friends for BTB shenanigans, and my two first impressions were 1) the map flows really well. Lots of crazy action, guys coming from all sides. I like that there's rarely a one on one shootout - there always seemed to be at least three guys fighting each other, which adds a lot of dnamics to the firefights. And 2), the teleporters confuse the heck out of me. I get lost on any map that isn't a big open bowl, so that's no surprise though.

Good stuff. One hell of a gift from Bungie. I think on the podcast they mentioned it takes ~4 months to build a map like this. And then they give it away for free, and build a playlist around it to kick it off. For a studio that gives a lot to the community, this is the icing on a very sweet cake.

Thanks, guys.

So, I haven't played Halo 3 since January, and Bungie.net tells me that besides that one evening in Jan., I haven't Playerd Halo 3 since November.

I loaded up the game tonight, intending to download the four free maps coming my way and enjoy a little multiplayer.

But a quick look at my achievements showed me I never cleared the campaign. o.0 I was only up to the start of Chapter 6, in fact. I'm just not into the Halo mythos or anything... I only got it for multiplayer. Then I put the game down for CoD4, then Uncharted, etc etc. I just completely forgot that it was unfinished. :lol :lol

So I had an awesome time working my way through Chapter 6 on normal, and earned this sucker:

I sniped some brutes, fucked up many Wraiths and Ghosts via a Scorpion tank, dismantled a scarab, gunned in a warthog for a while, owned some bitches with successive invisibility upgrades... good times.

After I clear the final three chapters on normal, any Halo vets interested in carrying me through Legendary? :D :D I won't be useless... I'm a rank 35 in Rumble Pit (Proof: http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/RankHistory.aspx?player=ErrorJustin). I just need someone that knows the maps to help out.

Ah, The Ark. Good times. Just wait until the next mission. :p

And yeah, I'm down for co-op any time. Legendary - especially with some skulls turn on - is amazing in co-op. I still play some co-op every week or so.

I was complaining about how the only achievement I have left is Mongoose Mowdown, and then I got a Splatter on the Mongoose. Wrong playlist though : /

Nice. I'll ping you after I wrap up the campaign on normal and we'll try to get it together some evening. Maybe rope in a couple other GAFfers, too.

With a couple skulls on I could truly bang out some achievements, because I don't have any of the meta-game ones, either. And I still have 4 skull achievements to earn.

Edit: With E3 being next week it might be a little bit, though.

This caught my eye:
Cold Storage Q&A said:
Q: How was the setting for Cold Storage selected? Chill Out was Covenant, Cold Storage is Forerunner.

MM2: We knew we wanted to explore something new with Cold Storage, and fairly early on the decision was made to go with Forerunner because at the time there weren’t many Forerunner maps being developed.
Now, I don't know what "at the time" is, but Halo 3 had 7 Forerunner maps, 3 Human maps, and 1 Covenant map. The two map packs were all human maps, except for Avalanche, which could be considered Forerunner. Now, that brings the tally to 8 Forerunner maps, 8 Human maps, and 1 Covenant map. So, let's say a while back Bungie's trying to figure out what setting they use for the map they're making, which would later be codenamed Purple Reign, and they choose to use this same logic: develop for a setting that we haven't been using heavily recently. What setting could they possibly use?

I had hoped I wasn't the only one. It usually takes me a day or two to soldify in my head where everything is in a map, but it will take longer on CS with the teleporters bringing you here and there.

I'm not great with teleporters, they only don't confuse me when it's really simple, like on Beaver Creek or Coagulation or Avalanche.

I would like to thank Eazy for supplying one of the best moments in recent memory...he grabs the laser on Standoff, enemy hog approaches, he is aimlessly running towards the middle of the map, Nutter tells him to fire the Laser and he proceeds to disconnect and the hog rapes us. :lol

0.015%

And all of that is me leaving to accept a friend's invite. If I'm playing BTB and it goes 1v8, I will keep playing to the bitter end. I'm stubborn like that.

numbers and buttonbasher: my internet shat out during my final game last night, sorry!

I probably have a large quit count too. My modem just randomly resets about once an hour and it really sucks. I've lost so much exp because of it.

I need to get a new provider but I'm too lazy. I will do it! someday...

To be fair, my internet connection has been spotty lately. I'd say 10-15% of those are me dropping to one red bar and then dropping out of the game.

But still. That's too high, and nearly all of the others are in the past month or two. I just get impatient with griefers/moran randoms. But seeing the number that high...I'll stick it out more often.

So when does the 'Icy Treat' playlist go away? I wanna see this map included into normal matchmaking. I wasn't able to get a game with the real weapon spawns so I'm still not sure where everything is. All I got last night was Fiesta, Braiiiiins and Swords. Over, and over again.

I think I'm at a pretty high amount of -xp as well around 50 or so. There are two main reasons I'll quit a game:

1) Lagged out.
2) If someone on our team quits and we start to get handed some pwnage. (don't wanna get my k/d ratio f'ed up. I'm waaaay more concerned about my K/D ratio than my XP)

There are probably many reasons for people to quit a game but these two, I believe, are uncontrollable. What happens to me in Halo 3 is if our team starts the match slow, ie: losing, one of our randoms will leave before trying to work together. If something like this happens could Halo 3 just quit the game and count the match as a null for both teams? I understand this would be abused. People would love to quit games just before they are lose to throw the match.

Maybe an: 'If player exits match before time = 3:00min then match ends & game = null, if after 3:00min then match resumes'?

This would still get abused, but may leviate getting unwanted -xp caused by excessive lag and assholes leaving.

If there is a quit threshold, and it seriously affects matchmaking I think I would quit playing Halo 3. You can't pay me enough to play Halo 3 with some of the douchebags online. I'm not going to stick around for an unbalanced game, or a ridiculous game type. In a team game what's the point of playing when your team is trying to betray you? Or if they aren't even playing (annoyingly common). There's also no pointing in playing games when they get laggy to a certain point. Also getting spawn killed is not enjoyable, and happens on a lot of game types, especially with AR starts.

Anyway, the point is there are a ton of reasons to quit from a game. I could care less about my EXP, but if its going to affect matchmaking that would be really annoying.

Yeah, those are my reasons for dropping. I play almost exclusively on the BTB playlist, so the games are usually pretty log affairs. If we get stuck with a lousy gametype (Territories on Sandtrap, say) or I've got griefers on my team, it's a long, unpleasant slog before the end of the game. And I only get to play for an hour or two each day, tops, so I hate to be stuck in a game like that so long.

Louis Wu said:
Hmm... is this you?

Cause 12 quits in 812 matchmaking games is 1.5%, not 0.015%.

(Still pretty good - but what you posted was insane. .015% is 3 quits in 20,000 games. :D )
:lol I almost just did the same thing. 1.8% for me. I get dropped occasionally, and if I reach throw the controller level frustration, I'll just turn the box off. Mostly, though, if the rest of my team quits, I'll play to the end, and if the other team is filled with d-bags constantly using 'humiliation tactics,' I'll do as much camping as possible to make them play till time runs out.

I fucking told Blood that we shouldn't play anymore matches. I could feel it in my delicate elite bones. The Halo Gods were angry that I defied their wishes and proceeded to boot me. :(

As far as quits go, out of the 2500+ games I've played I think I may have dropped out of a little under 20 of them (~.8%). I've never quit a game on purpose but do lag out from time to time (see above).

Bungie should just remake Halo 2 into the game they wanted it to be, it sounded so great in the Halo 3 Legendary Edition Cutscenes w/ Commentary. Also, include the E303 demo, to this day it amazes me.
