Eh, I think it'd be too late in the 360's lifespan to release the next Halo for it.

Besides, I'm thinking they'd want to work on something new before going back to Halo.

I think the 360's life span is going to be longer than any of the previous generations. It's taking longer development cycles to create games. Companies are taking years to create the frameworks and tools to create games for the PS3 and 360. Several companies are now saying that want to release whole trilogies on the current generation of consoles (Mass Effect, Too Human).

The time between Gears of War and Gears of War 2 was 2 years, but only because they're using mostly the same tools and engine between the two games.

Bungie spent considerable time and effort creating the tools, content pipeline, and engine for Halo 3. I think they're going to want to use an updated but mostly similar engine for their next game in the Halo universe. That'd go against what they did for the previous games, but that's my prediction and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, I mean I could definitely be wrong about WHEN they're going to announce this new game superintendent game. It might not be Bungie Day and it may very well be at PAX with a big blow out, who knows - but as far as the NEXT Halo game, I'm pretty sure it may not be seen till the next generation's Xbox launch or at the very earliest as the last big game in the Xbox 360's lifecycle.

Yeah, like we were talking about earlier, it just depends on how much Bungie feels like they can show on B-Day without things starting to overshadow each other. And there's always E3. I don't remember Bungie talking much about E3 last year and they at least had that little video there, so I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that they'll at least have a presence there this year. What they'd show, though, I don't know... I think a small XBLA game would definitely get overshadowed if announced at E3. Maybe they'll just show off some of the new maps in a video.

I think that Microsoft, at least, wants to have a new Halo game every 2 years. That doesn't mean it will happen, but I'd be surprised if we didn't see a new Halo game (or a game in that universe with the same gameplay mechanics) by November 2010.

I don't believe we'll see the next Microsoft console before then, so my prediction is that the next Halo game is made for the 360.
And they have both Halo Wars and Halo Chronicles announced. Halo Wars is this year. They don't need another one announced to detract from Gears 2 this year. That rumor makes NO sense.

I think Bday is cold storage. That's it. I think the podcast will consist of some wild speculation / hints kind of stuff of their next game, and maybe some timeframe of when we can expect to see the game (be it E3 or PAX or something else). I do not believe there will be a game reveal of any kind on Bday.

Oh it's not that hard: shitty characters + shitty plot makes for shitty movies.

Based on their verbiage, I'd guess that they have other things cooking up, but I think those are the two key element. Since they've said nothing of E3, it seems pretty obvious to me that they'll make an announcement about superintendent on 7/7 and have a playable version of the game at PAX or something to that effect. Who knows, they could announce another project or something else big on Bungie Day - historically, Bungie has been known to make several announcements of varying sizes and natures in a single day, like the 11/2006 announcement of the Halo 3 commercial, the Halo 3 beta and the new maps for Halo 2. All were super huge announcements and all were very different from each other.

I agree. I mean, what Luke said at the beginning of the ViDoc seemed to imply that they are going to announce Superintendent on 7/7, if only a couple of details about it.

The universe is pretty interesting. The movies are garbage, though.

Even so, Star Trek's universe is far superior in its detail and intricacy.

To be honest, though. I could care less about the lot of them. The Dune universe is where it's at. :D

Holy shit! 4th of July indeed!:lol :lol :lol

:lol I assume that's on the Valhalla wall?

Also, we need to make this thread about Too Human/Dyack. Not enough threads about that recently. Get on changing the OP, G.

I think you're all wrong about the Superintendent being a small XBLA game. Quote me on it.
Will do.

Just hopped on for a bit to play some more campaign to contribute towards reaching 7 billion kills. Doing all I can! Maybe I'll have another friend over this weekend to play through the campaign to help even more.

I'm just catching up with this thread and the playlist thing is v cool. however, one thing that saddens my intertube heart is rtbtb. 40% for slayer is a p big percentage for what I (personally) would call a very boring gametype. I'm also quite suprised how low of a percentage the assault games are. They should be bumped up and slayer should be bumped down.

Also, listen to kylej. Influential VIP sounds alot better than the current version.

My predictions:
Possibility of hints on the superintendent game on Bungie day; nothing more.
Superintendent game reveal at E3 or Bungie doesn't do anything at all
If the Superintendent game has yet to be revealed, then it will be revealed at PAX. If they revealed it at E3 then there will be a blowout at PAX with a playable demo.

You probably could. Papa Keyes put Miranda to shame.
This.

H3 Miranda said a few too many groan-worthy things and her voice sounds really odd (Kind of like she's constantly out of breath and barely getting the words out).

Her voice actor in Halo 2 was better. And her big scene would have been more impactful had she actually shot. Still well done, but I was hoping Bungie would be more daring with her end.

I think the same could be said for Truth. I had always thought of him as a cunning and ruthless politician, and the voice actor in H3 didn't give any feeling of that, imo.

Oh absolutely. From the voice perspective, the H2-to-H3 shift for Truth was cunning and brilliant politician with complex motives-to-boogieman.

And a narrative perspective, also. We only ever see him as this distant phantom, ranting and raving. The perspective we had with him in Halo 2 is gone, and along with it, the nuance.

Yeah... really makes me think of how in-depth the H2 story was, with long cutscenes that explained the inner-workings to the covenant. This compared to H3 cutscenes that told us to go destroy AA guns.

It makes me sad.

I agree, in Halo 2, he always seemed to know more than he said, and it felt like a conspiracy movement, really. The move from making him less of a conniving politician and more of a theocratic leader sort of made the rebellion of the Elites seem like, in the end, there wasn't a good reason to do so, since Truth believed wholeheartedly in the idea of the Great Journey. I mean, the whole reason for the Separatist movement was that Truth was lying to them, which implies that he knew more than he was telling. When I think of what might have been if they had continued along that line of thought, I quickly join your sadness party.

They really did dumb down the story. I would have really preferred if Bungie would have told the story from the Covenant story as well whether that meant a new playable character or not. It really made the story pop and more enthralling when they used the different perspectives in Halo 2's campaign and was much more dynamic than Halo 3's story.

And if you actually read Contact Harvest, it makes even more disappointing.

My theory on Truth leading up to release went like this:

> Truth didn't believe in the Journey at all, he simply kept up appearances to solidify his power. He stood back and let others kill Mercy and Regret so that they wouldn't interfere with his grand design.

> He sent Tartarus to Delta Halo and rushed off to Earth to find a safe haven from activation such as a shield-world or the Ark. Killing everything with the Halo activation would leave him without any enemies within the Covenant and a vast amount of time to try to deal with what was left of the Flood.

So is it pretty clear that Superintendant is a game that probably has something to do with cleaning things, maybe faeces. :

1)The main character uses a plunger.
2) The games tagline is, "Keep It Clean".
3)In the Vidoc one of the artists i believe said that some of the sentient flood matter on the floor looked like poo. Maybe this is because of an over exposure to faeces around the office and so it was on his mind whilst playing Cold Storage.

This is clearly a late night punt, so don't shoot me down just yet.

The game is about a spartan who failed at every test that the UNSC used to train spartans. The UNSC has no idea what to do with him, so they give him a plunger to clean the world of the covenant blood that lay among the "crappy" textures of the Halo Universe. Keep it clean people, be clean in killing the enemy.

I hate it too. It sucks having to scream "VETOOOO YOU [homophobic slur]S!!!" up to the last second before game.

So, I'm debating this whole pax thing... Whats the roll call on attending pax so far, anyone want to split a hotel room?

Why do I want to go to PAX for those that have been before?

I'll be there, but I'm already full on the room situation.
