I went the wrong way and a soldier was bangin on the door to get ammo and the dude wouldn't let him in cause he didn't know the password. funny shit.
Agreed.GhaleonEB said:I loved that map.
armubaba said:By remade I mean rehashed in such a way that the original map is still discernible through the changes, meaning that it still retains the qualities and feeling of the original map. I consider something like Valhalla a remake of Coagulation, but I don't consider Guardian a remake of Lockout. Pretty convoluted rules, but hey, what the hell.
sixthsubset said:i want maps that are promote teamwork but not the clingy buddy system holding hands kind. to do this they have to be 1) on the smaller side and 2) open. the problem with the current maps imo is not only that they are big, but that they are sectioned off. what i loved about halo 2 on br start (ok, mlg) is that you pretty much always had a chance to help out your teammates by getting into the right positions and angles and it didn't take awhile to get there. you had to get to p2 on midship and control it just because it was a vantage point from which you could help all your teammates no matter if they're on the opposite side of the map, and you could get there right off the bat by walking a few feet. in halo 3 there are often times just where you can't assist your teammates for a long periods of time because they're behind a gigantic wall or a hill. on the pit if your teammate is on the other side of camo/rocks you can't do anything to help them until you run down a long tunnel and by that time they're dead. it's the same thing on construct with the hallways and lift rooms and isolation with the ridge on top and the underground. this turns it into a game where in order to be successful in a competitive match you have to pretty much roam the map with your team by your side, which slows the game down a whole lot because you have to wait awhile to get paired up and sort of camp to make sure you both get to the area where you can use teamwork at roughly the same time instead of staying on the move and keeping the game going. i don't think of halo as a particularly slow game, and i think the map design has a way of making it that way imo.
I don't mind that stuff too much. What I mind is when it takes forever to get into a matchmaking game, when I can't join my buddy's party, when I can't load a playlist and when the fucking game freezes. The last 15 or so days have been fucking annoying.FunkyMunkey said:Agreed 100%. Halo 3 is ridiculously slow because of this. Mixed with mauler melee-shooting and a broken melee system in general makes me.

squicken said:That was the idea of Halo 3 MP. They want you to move around and not hole up in the best positions with all the power weapons. I'm not bagging on your preferences or anything. Everyone has a right to want what they want. For me, personally, if I wanted to play a game where I could sit around and camp all day, I'd play CoD 4.
I bet they use spin the bottle. The Lamonster said:That's what I figured.
How do you and Frank decide who writes a given week's update?

I think you nailed it on the head with why I don't enjoy Guardian as much as some. It can be so hard to get around on that map to help your team out with the way it is sectioned. However, The Pit is one of my favorite Halo3 maps. Right now I'd put my top 5 favorite maps for Halo3 as: 1) Standoff: 2) Narrows: 3) Foundry: 4) The Pit: 5) Construct:sixthsubset said:the problem with the current maps imo is not only that they are big, but that they are sectioned off.
Man, I get those all the time. That brings up another reason why I enjoyed BTB before it became unranked. It's a lot harder to get repeatedly screwed in BTB games.eternal prize said:I just played the worst games of halo in my lifeWhy is it that I destroy most nights and have one night of BS after BS? 13. Epitaph
12. Sandtrap
11. Construct
10. Snowbound
09. Rat's Nest
08. Foundry
07. Narrows
People complain about the lack of BTB maps, but what bothers me more is the low quality of the smallest maps, at least compared to Lockout-Midship-Ascension etc. On the whole I think the Halo 3 maps are pretty great, particularly the top six or so above.
amazing map, I hate you.Blueblur1 said:EDIT: Oh, and I'd place Narrows at number 14. I hate it with a passion.

I have a very strong preference for BTB games, and a strong dislike for all on-foot games on small maps with narrow walkways. For this reason, I hated Lockout, which is my least favorite Halo 2 map. (Guardian and Isolation are my least favorite Halo 3 maps.)Shake Appeal said:Waterworks was probably the worst Halo 2 map of all. What's wrong with some of you?

One of my favorite habits to do in Waterworks was to jump into the Wraith and block of any potential by moving the huge crates. Waterworks was a great map as long as it was a BTB objective game. The only time it really fell apart was when you just introduced team slayer.GhalGB said:I have a very strong preference for BTB games, and a strong dislike for all on-foot games on small maps with narrow walkways. swander said:It's a pretty small map, how many areas do you want? You could argue that Guardian only has one (the elevator rooms), and lots of other popular maps like The Pit and Midship only really have a couple.
Same here. There are some small maps that I like in Halo - Rat Race and Turf mostly - but I much prefer the larger choices like Blood Gulch, Waterworks, Sidewinder, Sandtrap and HeadlongGhaleonEB said:I have a very strong preference for BTB games, and a strong dislike for all on-foot games on small maps with narrow walkways. To me, it's just not Halo without a vehicle or two careening about.urk said:I tend to like the smaller maps better. Lockout and Midship were so good because both had very minimal dead space and plenty of options for mobility. There's plenty of cover, but none that afforded a truly safe place. I still like the larger maps, but when you spawn away from the action, you often find yourself looking for a vehicle or hoofing it for length of time, where you literally are doing nothing. In the case of Waterworks, nothing usually resulted in the sniper who used the Shee to get on top of the map pulling the top of your head off.
