Anybody know whats up with Game clips? Can't seem to watch them with pals. When we load up a clip, it tosses us at a black screen, and we just sit there forever. We end up having to sign off of Xbox Live just to get out of it.

Yeah.... Friday night into Saturday morning there were 1 to 1.2 million on avg....
Just now when I left, it was just over 1 million.
That's pretty insane for 5AM on a Sunday morning.
Although Friday night's stats are what floored me -- more than 1 million people staying in to play Halo and not out spending money at the movies, restaurants, clubs, etc.

I don't get people in Highground. Almost every time I start at the beach and grab the shotgun I hear someone speeding with the vehicle towards the beach (but not for the shotgun) giving me a super easy kill while the drive past me. I don't understand where the urge to race to the beach comes from. There's nothing of value there as far as I know.

The shotgun randomness bugs me even more than melee though, and since shotty snipers appears so much, you notice it more.

Halo 3 is breaking teh internets.
I just played oddball in Epitah like freaking football and won, really... I hated that game mode, but I had so much fun today with it that I won't veto it, unless I don't feel like running around like an idiot.
BTW, 920K playing right now. And my B.net profile updated already, have all the latest stuff. Worldwide bandwidth and electricity usage has risen thanks to Halo 3 =P.

Now going on 60 hours since Bungie.net last updated my profile...
While I was running around in the Ark level trying to get the skull (what a bitch btw! luckily you can get up there with a chopper) I realized how amazing some of the environments are. The panorama on the exact spot where the skull is located, is pretty amazing. I don't get people who nitpick on textures or other stuff when you get these incredibly big environments to drive/run around in.

Yeah that sucks, Bungie.net isn't listing stats for any of the matches I played on Friday or Saturday but it does have some from today.

Well I used the boost of the chopper and some small rocks to get on the rock where you otherwise jump to. Then I maintain my speed and jump to the concrete part. Then I put my chopper under the structure where the skull is et voila! Skull get. It works with a ghost too but that one's too small so you don't have that big of a platform.
edit: just saw a youtube vid where a guy used 2 choppers (one as bridge between the rock and concrete), but that's not necessary, you can do it with one if you don't brake or lose momentum
B.net is completely fucked it seems. The weekend traffic really messed things up, I guess.
In other news, my quest for 50 continues. Finally hit 48 in Lone Wolves, but according to the graph there are no 49s or 50s in it right now so I'm not sure how I'll make it there.
Team Slayer might be a better option as long as I have a good team. (Looking at you Team Jesus.)

So when is the shotty snipers situation gonna get fixed? I remember that massive thread about it....and its still the same. Also the matchmaking is seemingly taking longer and longer now.

I honestly don't think gears was always that broken. It always had more lag and host advantage problems obviously, but they weren't nearly as pronounced in the early going, and the core gameplay was very compelling...for me anyway. Still though yeah, after playing COD4 beta and especially halo 3.....it becomes pretty impossible to go back to that busted ass netcode.

Another stupid quirk is that it is impossible to get Last Resort in a team slayer game unless it is shotty sniper. I know all of this will get fixed but wasn't this partially what the beta was for?LakeEarth said:

The Ark on Legendary is excellent! I did some amazing stuff. Did the final brute fight with the hero hammer brute without dying. Cloaked myself up, ran for the hero brute, incendiary grenade on him and then blasted him with brute shots. Then took out all the others one by one, by staying on the lowest level, behind those small stairs, running between them.
The easiest way to take out those 2 Hunters early in the level is using those plasma turrets. Emptied two of them to down both, very effective.
The brutes are pretty good with equipment. They throw down the power drainer a lot when I'm in a vehicle. Also got hijacked a few times.
Also, I present you the reason why Halo 3 is awesome. All this is on legendary, solo.
-The Scarab always busted my tank, so without major firepower I had to find another way to get on the scarab. Found a chopper and tried to get on the scarab with that. I took out the scarab on The Storm (legendary) with a sniper rifle so why not use an unorthodox method for this one too.
-The jump...
-The landing...
-From chopper to scarab.
-Chopper tumbles off scarab...
-Scarab is pissed and blasts chopper to pieces...
-I fight one of the most intense, thrilling fights on legendary on a moving scarab, non-stop danger of getting killed by brutes or falling off, full of adrenaline. It's doubled by the fact that I just did something incredibly awesome and actually finishing off the scarab without dyinng would make that so much sweeter.
-I take out the blue brute and try to go for the gold one. I don't see the jackal, luckily he just pissed himself after seeing the chief do such badass stuff and doesn't do much because he's scared shitless.
-He sees me and throws a spike.
-I run back to my safe spot on top of the scarab, see the jackal and take him out. He falls off too.
-I melee the gold brute.
-Scarab's weakspot
-Jump off and the scarab explodes.
Amazing job Bungie! Halo 3, even more than Halo 1 and 2, just keeps generating those fuck crazy badass moments that are all because of you, the player. Nothing canned, no QTE or cutscene, just gameplay moments. Imagining and then just trying it and succeeding is so great.

The scarab fight on the Covenant last night with TGS, I was riding on Spuds Hornet, and he dropped me off on one of the scarabs. Hit the weak point for massive damage. Run to the top, and hop back in the hornet and fly away just in time.
Land on the second one and do the same thing, except I couldn't get back on. I jump off and he picked me up and we flew to the light bridge.
There's tons of ways to do that one battle. So awesome.
Yeah this game is just fucking amazing all around. I LOVE the campaign. Most campaigns/main story line I could give a shit for. I beat all the zeldas just because it brings back huge child hood memories of me beating Zelda 1 and 2 and LttP while my father helped (his form of helping was watching and helping me figure out the puzzles. I started playing Zelda 1 in 1990 when I was 5.) They were lifetime bonding experiences that, to me, meant everything.
So outside of the zelda series there are VERY few games I've beaten from start to finish. I don't really know if I've beat a game more than once or twice ever (outside of the original mario.)
But then there is the exception. Halo 3. I've beaten it 4 times already and got 1,000/1,000 achievements.
And I will help all of my friends get everything they can out of the campaign because its just hands down amazing.

Worst: Guardian, 1.13 kills per death (which is weird, because I really love the map...)

Best: Guardian (yeah, weird, I know), No ratio, because you can't divide by zero.
Runner Up: The Pit, 3.95 kills per death.
Worst: Last Resort, 2.83 kills per death.
Also I hate Construct, but I don't really have a reason to.
