Auto-aim in Halo 2 is NOT worse than Halo 3. It isn't even close. To deny this is to deny blatant reality and it probably means you're a severe halo apologist.
So I suppose I'm a Halo apologist?

And you're still completely wrong. Halo 3 auto-aim is beyond atrocious. I've never been SPUN IN A CIRCLE in Halo 2.

then youve obviously not played halo 2 enough. everyone here agrees that H3 has much less aim yet youre still conviced. give up cause youre wrong.

I got to level 36 on Lone Wolves, today. I also managed to unlock every achievement, and the Marathon helmet permutation. I love it.

I just wish we could get the EOB. Oh well, I guess.

Halo 2 auto aim is fucking horrible. I get mad at myself now with Halo 3 because I can't sweep with my precious sniper. They toned it down A LOT.

As for melee lunge, I've barely noticed it. Certainly far less than in Halo 2. It seems random, honestly. Sometimes guys lunge at me from pretty far, but it's pretty rare, and I haven't lunged much at all.

Though I do have a problem with some aspects of the melee in Halo 3. I think the Assault Rifle melee is WAY TOO STRONG. Put about 4 (yes, four) bullets in someone then melee them and it is an instant kill. Way too strong. The battle rifle is also a bit too weak, I think. You can dome someone three times and then hit them and they don't always die.

when was the last time that you played H2?
I barely use the BR now because of the almost non-existant auto-aim on H3

protip: try to increase the sensitivity to 6 at least

Can we trade Halo 3 discs? I want a copy that doesn't completely remove control of my aim when something new runs past!

o_O

Halo 2's auto-aim was waaaaay worse than Halo 3, hands down. Disagreement about that aside, I've never heard of anyone having any problems anywhere this bad, much less being "turned around" by auto-aiming. I have no fucking idea what's wrong. I 300 or so games so far I've only had auto-aim fuck me a total of once, when the guy I was shooting at crouched, and there was another right behind him, and the autoaim targeted him, and took me off my aim on the crouching guy. I have no idea what to tell you.

Yeah, a couple of my friends are upset because they're nowhere near as good with sniping now for that very reason.

Gamertag please? I'm interested in how many games of Halo 2 you've played

Are we ever going to get confirmation on if the recon armor is bungie only or not? Last theory I heard was that you had to have unlocked every medal in your medal chest in ranked matches. That armor is pretty badass, but if that's what you have to do I'll never get it :lol

Also bungie.net just updated from 3 of my games tonight, but nothing else between Thursday and those three games. Do we know for sure those games are going to catch up? I'd gotten a bunch of new medals that I may note get again anytime soon (slice and dice, bulltrue, a few others).

Also sorry numbers, I tried to join after your first invite but you were already in matchmaking, then I was partied up with some other people when you invited me again later.

I'm really speechless, though perhaps we're confusing terms here.

It would be more accurate to say "reticule manipulation" in Halo 3 is far, far, far more severe than in Halo 2. As for "auto-aim" in the sense that "you didn't really shoot there, but it hit anyway," I'm not sure, as I never really notice in either game (except with the sniper sometimes).

And given that I use the BR 90% of the time, and the only way to do any appreciable damage with it is headshots, having your aim YANKED is guaranteed death.

Nope, I think we are talking about the same terms. When we say "auto-aim" when talking about Halo we are talking about the reticule sticking to the enemy and staying on him. So when we say "auto-aim" it is referring to you "reticule manipulation".

And I still don't think that the auto-aim in Halo 3 is worse than Halo 2. I've had the same situation as SailorDaravon where the reticule would stick to a guy behind him, but that's only happened once.

In Halo 2 I'd be shooting at someone, someone else would run past my line of fire and the reticule would follow him, and that happened on many occasions.

Yeah, my stats just updated. So, it takes some time.

Here's my player snapshot:

Cool, eh?

Yup.

"Auto Aim" is a method of increasing player accuracy by registering hits that are near the hitbox, but might not be pinpoint.

The other phenomenon you're talking about is "aim magnetism." Magnetism "latches" on to a target and "pulls" it along to match the movement. Both the initial latching and the subsequent pull can feel very awkward, especially if you are targeting one player and the magnetism chooses a different target.

Auto aim in Halo 3 has definitely been turned down. Magnetism feels about the same, but I never had a huge problem with it in Halo 2. Few and far between for me for both titles.

Right. And that happens to me, multiple times, every game. Perhaps it's because I use the battle rifle so much I just notice it more.

And it never happened in the Beta, which makes it that much worse.

Hell, you don't even have to play MP, just try to shoot grunts in the head when a few of them are running around. Your aim goes everywhere.

Awesome games tonight, TGS! Sorry you got deranked in our Team Slayer games tonight, Dirtbag. Next time, when I'm not on one of my 'cold' days, we'll definitely have to get in some more Team Slayer matches. :)

Edit: BTW, Armubaba, I'm so disappointed man. So disappointed...

Please Bungie, remove the radar jammer from maps... It's annoying, everyone picks it up and INSTANTLY presses X.

Was playing Team Objective 1 Flag CTF on Last Resort and we were on defense, and our teammate decides to pick up the radar jammer and throw it in our base. WTF? Congratulations on making it easier for the offensive team to just walk right in and grab our flag, jackass.

I haven't been in ONE single game where someone actually used it strategically. At least change the spawn location of it to the beach wall or something, so the attacking team has it.

:lol I know what you mean. The only time that I've found it to be really useful is on Narrows. For example, I was playing a game of Team Slayer and the opposing team was just camping in their base for a majority of the match. So about a minute in I run across the bridge, grab the Radar Jammer, go underneath the bridge, and deploy it. It helped me, and a few of my other teammates get some kills, that we probably otherwise wouldn't have got. (at least, not as fast)

Yeah good games. I carried the entire team through team slayer. You guys should work on that for next time.

The spawning in this game blows. Spawning in front of the rocket guy/Shotgun guy/Sniper guy isn't what most people call good spawns.

Fix this plz. Its happening WAY too often now, and is really killing the joy I was having for this game.

Wow, the spawns in Halo 3 are pretty fucking atrocious. I'm spawned within 5 feet of a shotgun wielding enemy multiple times tonight, and I only played 6 or 7 games. It happened two times each on High Ground and The Pit. I'm unsure if the map spawns are to blame, or if there is some kind of "enemy detection" glitch that makes the game think its safe to spawn there. Shotty Snipers needs to die.

Radar Jammers are pretty damn pointless. When I initially learned of the tool, I thought using one would only fuck your enemies' radar, but it screws everyone up.

I can beat that. I spawned as the VIP. On the enemy's side. 2 seconds after three of them spawned in.

Ok so I guess I gotta ask again.

Does it matter if I pass some levels in co op and some solo on legendary to get the achievement? Do I have to pass everything solo or can it be some solo and some co op?

It's the weakest equipment IMO, but still useful if used right.

- Storming the enemies base in CTF and other objective modes like Assault. Throw down a radar jammer to confuse them (best when a lot of teammates are with you).

- Escaping enemy fire (turn a corner, throw the radar jammer down and either make a run for it or reposition yourself better).

Problem is no one actually uses it for these situations....

You can do a mix of each.

I beat a few of the levels on solo legendary and did the rest of it on co-op and I received the achievement.

the famine skull was a bitch for me to get. i HAD to use the brute chopper method which was easy once i figured out how to get that damn thing up on the structure (that part took me a while!).

Is the Epitaph map so awful it is never spoken of? I didn't even know it existed until I was playing around with forge. It's never come up for me in matchmaking ever.

Play some team doubles or lone wolves. They really should mix up the maps in the different playlists.
I like it.
