I wonder if you could make a hockey gametype...using the hammers to bat around a crate into a "goal" on each end of a symmetrical map.

With honor rules, not enforced probably.
What I'm wondering if it's possible for Bungie to expand the functionality of Forge. Like hardcoding popular community honor rules so they can be enforced in the game.

Man this game just needs to come out already :)

There could be one simple thing they could add as a gametype, to spawn many others.

Make an object a "target_red" and "target_blue". So a large crate for example. Make another object the "ball". Anytime that ball hits the target, a point is awarded for the team that scored.

Factor in gravity lifts and man-cannons...it could make for a crazy gametype.

I was just thinking, you could make races in this game as well. 2 Warthogs side by side, teams spawn right behind them. You can set up similar obstacle courses for each, and finish by plowing into a tower of crates (to act as the finish line). The first to plow into them wins.

Holy shit!

That's sweet, but I'd say Frankie's Connery impression was even better.

EDIT: Why does that warthog move so suddenly just before the plasma goes off? Is it riding on just the one wheel?

Yeah, looks like it's on one wheel there under throttle.

Wow that sounded a little rude...

Yeah, clarification is needed regarding this post by me.

Specifically, the only line that deals specifically with GhaleonEB is the first. I can take a ribbing from him about 'playing through campaign on normal' bit simply for the fact that we're friends and I don't mind if he pokes fun at me. I really don't mind if all of GAF does this.

But someone, I don't remember their name hence my statement (I assume he was a GAF'er) said something to the effect of: "YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. YOU CALL YOURSELF A HARDCORE HALO FAN AND YOU PLAY ON NORMAL!!" I wish I hadn't deleted his message immediately after reading it so I could call him out, but never-the-less, he said it and the bulk of my response was to him and those who felt the same as him, fueled by some crazy jealousy.

The game comes out in a few days and you guys are going to LOVE it.

Anyways, I felt guilty after reading my response because I sounded like a degenerate - there's no ill will between Ghaleon and I, nor any of my other friends on GAF. Much love from me and I can't wait till you join us!

And for those interested, here's some brief takes on a Heroic cooperative experience. I'm in Orlando, the other client is in Georgia and the host is in Washington (STATE!). Little to no lage. Little to no latency. 3-player coop on Heroic all the way through from start to finish. Most fun I've ever had on Xbox Live period AND Halo 1 fans will adore Halo 3's campaign. Yes, because the combat system feels more similar to Halo 1's and because of the open environment, but also because of a great many things not disclosed and I won't be disclosing them any time soon.

I'm still blown away by how fun and smooth cooperative play was. Very very VERY impressive.

This makes me quite happy.

Yeah...I think it's awesome. The physics in general in that whole gif are so sweet.

Voc, two questions
1)How did you get the copy?
2)Are you doing a review? Depending on (1) you aren't bound by embargo, right? When can I read it?

Lots of stuff.

Great to hear your impressions, Voc. I didn't think my hype could get any higher but you're helping it get up there.

And sorry to hear about you getting some ill-willed messages, especially from people you don't know.

Luke,

For a group of 4 above average Halo players, playing Campaign the first play through, do you recommend Legendary or Heroic ???
LTTP (sorry I just got back from a business trip and trying to catch up), but I am going to add my take.

With 4 players, not only you have more fire power, but the chances that when you die at least one player is safe enough to allow you to re-spawn next to him is very high (assuming no skulls).

With two player however, even on heroic, you are going to end up going back to your last checkpoint quite a lot (in big battles).

so, IMO:
2 players: Heroic first time and legendary afterward
4 players: Legendary

I am so glad to hear that the campaign feels more Halo 1'ish. :) I can not wait to play it on co-op either, though - me and three of my trash-talking friends playing the game on Legendary, while sipping Red Bull? Yes, please!

this is exactly what i wanted to hear. the next 5 days just got that much harder

One thing I'm curious about (probably qualifies as a major spoiler, but I'd love an answer), are the Flood any more interesting to fight this time around, or at least less of a burden?

I guess I was one of the first people to watch the Vidoc, it was on marketplace about 8 hours ago. Didn't post about it because I thought you guys knew about it, since how damn fast this thread if growing!

Well actually we over here started watching it from when Luke first alerted us, which is longer than 8 hours ago. :P

Man, I think the poster was just joking. As for the rest...Good news!

Im pretty annoyed about them cutting the custom game search. This was my biggest letdown in Halo 2. I felt obliged to stay in games that i didnt enjoy because i didnt want to be known as "that jackass who quit". It just felt like a big FU when it took close to an hour to find a gametype i could really enjoy.

Matchmaking's still not up here, my only guess is they turned it on for Americans so they can do some testing with Bungie staff and MS employees, as well as all the early birds there. Where is my 360's F5 button?

Nice, I should get the game sometime tomorrow... the wait has been unbearable!

Oh and Frankie, if you see this, I've written you a pretty important PM (nothing of interest for anyone else). I would really appreciate if you'd just spend a minute on it or so...

Listening to the podcast atm and the first 20 minutes are so funny. I bursted out laughing when Frankie was talking about whispering to Joe's wife. So quick with the funnies. Frankie for president!

Those of you who have played Halo 3, how do you like Marty's music? The snippets I've heard on the Bungie podcasts are promising.

It's definitely true to Halo all the way through...

Why is the pod cast size so big?
MajorNelson managed to create a 2+ hr pod cast which is less than 50 megs.

I really want to listen but the size is holding me back :(

Edit:

I just went to the Game Planet store NZ website.. they have taken down the Legendary AND Limited editions listings! thank god I pre - ordered!

I'm glad that the online server isn't running atm, last thing I want is to jump online against elite players and get raped not knowing most weapon locations!

Where are you based? When I try to go matchmaking, it says "Could not get information from Halo 3 server"
