Bungie day cometh.

Speaking of which, anyone want to whip up a banner for the Bungie Day thread? I'll post it on the 4th or so.

Last year's thread had one, but it's down.
Completely slipped my mind that Bungie Day was coming up. Has it really been a year already?

Oh, and I noticed this while playing on Orbital today:

I may be a bit LTTP on this, but I wonder if that's a screenshot from ODST somehow, or if that picture has any relationship to ODST the game at all.

The space tether was a prominent feature of New Mombassa in Halo 2, and the wreckage of it was all over Tsavo Highway (also visible from Rat's Nest). Lots of us want to see it crash down in ODST. Given the sheer amount of stuff that's been shown so far that speaks directly what we've been wishing we saw in previous games - orbital drop - I'm hoping we see that sucker come down. Voc waxed at length about that as well.

For something as big as the space tether... could the engine handle something like that? I'm talking about in-game. I mean, I'm no computer engineer, but the space tether is big.

Aren't Citadel, Heretic, and Longshore the last Bungie maps for Halo 3? Unless Certain Affinity does it, we won't get others, I think.

If Reach is a FPS like previous Bungie Halos, I would love a "Best Of: Trilogy" map pack. I'm talking like 10-14 maps!

you never know. cold storage came out of no where. also if we do get a map then citadel, heretic, and longshore will still be the last bungie maps for halo 3.

i know its not probable but i will still dream for it anyway

I would be happy with a ViDoc showing off the new maps. I really wanna see Midship already.

Sanctuary remake that's set on an oil rig with human machinery and designs in mind. Believe.

Christ, there is so much wrong with the SWAT playlist that I can't even articulate it all. First off, host advantage is insane. My brother and I just played a game where we lost to lower levels than us by 30 simply because our shots don't hit. The game is entirely dependent on host advantage; whichever team gets host wins. It's worse than Gears was with host shotgun. It's garbage and I can't believe that Bungie would release a ranked playlist with that kind of game-breaking aspect.

Secondly, the spawns in most maps are absolutely horrid. I can't tell you how many times I've been spawned behind or spawned directly into fire, killing my teammate and myself instantly.

And with all the lag/hitbox not registering, it's a complete nightmare. Seriously, Bungie, way to completely wreck what could have been an incredible playlist.

Have spawns been adjusted in SWAT, either? I don't think they have for Boundless for when I recall playing there. No barriers at all, even for coverage -_-

Do not have the desire to play that, anyways, so no big issue to me, but that's regardless.

You have to use lazy links. Too much work to click your username and go from there.

Yea apparently using the middle click button to open my name in a new tab and queue up a file is too much work.

I also just read the rules and that isn't in there but what is is:

4. Arguments and heated discussions are acceptable, but the moment statements decrying or championing an opinion of someone else based on their relative skill/EXP level as the legs of their argumentative chair enter the discussion, the poster who brought said statements in will be removed.

Apparently NOT.

Can't wait to see what you complain about next!

It's so weird. I kind of feel like I'm no where near done playing Halo 3. I feel like Halo: Reach is coming out so fast. The Beta will be next Spring (most likely) with the game releasing in Fall (September again?) That's so soon. I feel like I haven't gotten everything out of Halo 3 like I did with Halo 2. I really hope I enjoy Halo: Reach's Multiplayer.

It's an odd feeling. With Halo 2, I was done playing it well before Halo 3 came out. I racked up about 600 MP games, went through the campaign a few times over. With Halo 3 it does not feel like nearly two years have passed at all. The game has much more depth than Halo 2 ever did.

One thought about Reach: will it be shown in some form before ODST ships? Isn't it unusual to pack in a Beta key to a game that hasn't even been shown yet? With Crackdown we had at least some early footage and screens of Halo 3 MP. We know almost nothing about Reach, but it's being used as an enticement for ODST.

(Of course, Bungie's first full game since Halo 3 is one heck of an enticement, preview or no.)

I don't think it will. They, being either Bungie or MS will feel that the fact that as it's a Bungie title people will accept that it's worth getting a beta access, because there's (arguably :P) a guarantee that it's going to be worth playing.

In some respect I don't want to see it either, unless it's a way of dampening my excitement for ODST (afraid I'm going to be disappionted) and putting that excitement onto Reach.

So I can't discuss gametypes or anything in the Halo 3 thread? This is news to me.

Or maybe I should obsess over whether Cortana shaves or not. Might be a bit more appropriate for this thread.
I would have to say she does...

Yeah. I'm not expecting it to be shown in more detail until the end of the year, if then. But the staging is a bit odd. But hey, we get in on the Beta, so no complaints.

Random thought: During one of the demos at E3 - I think it was the IGN one, but I'm not sure - the host showed the title screen options, and when he went to "Extras" mentioned that's where the Reach Beta would show up eventually. No surprise. But he also said "videos", which I didn't understand at the time. That's probably a way to drop in videos of Reach as it's announced, to generate awareness.

At least I'm not jaded and can actually see that the game has flaws unlike yourself.
The game does have flaws, just like every other game. I just don't constantly complain about them on this forum like it'll make a difference.

Same. After awhile, the button glitches just ruined the gameplay. I played less and less as Halo 3's release got closer.

Snowbound Swat is unplayable because of this, it makes me want to throw my xbox into a ravine. I went down from 46 to 45 because of that horrific map. Enemies on the two bases would just pop me instantly as I spawned out in the open snow.

Grabbed "Annual" last night with some friends. The beggining is absolutetly brutal with the iron skull on.
Ended up taking us abot 1.5 hours.

Fun, even if a bit frustrating.

I'd do it again even though I nabbed it already. So epic, so many surprises.
