While I admit to having some of those "Oh, @#$*ing Unity Engine glitches..." moments, I have liked a lot of what's created in Unity Engine too, and have been really rooting for it to have a good showing on next-gen platforms. I'm still looking forward to seeing projects on 2021.1 and beyond, and hope Unity has an answer in the works for UE5.
Unfortunately, it looks like Unreal is just totally dusting Unity, to the point that there are shockingly no "name-brand" games in the showcase trailer aside from maybe Oddworld. (*Not that there are no good games in the mix or no games that push graphical boundaries, but the biggest names using Unity in a showcase reel are self-publishing independent studios, and a good number of the showcase titles are from first-time developers That's not a flex of how widely-used your engine is if so few names ring a bell in a celebratory showcase.) I mean, let the best engine win, ultimately, but I still want it to be a competition (I'm not comfortable with Unreal just cornering the market outright, even if it is really good at what it does) and it's always good to see two approaches at circumstances so that interesting and hopefully unique results come out of both.
I was hoping to see some wow-factor in the new GDC presentations from Unity (and Unreal) now that the two next-gen consoles are out and PC GPUs are pushing new boundaries, but everything has still been quiet since the UE5 unveiling and UE4 meanwhile has continued to leave developers with few reasons to not use it. Good luck, Unity, you're gonna need it.
